Tracking Generator

I notice that there appears to be no tracking generator. Is this correct? Thanks, K7pv

tinySA-H4
3
I transfer tinySA firmware to NanoVNA-H4 platform Now possible use H4 platform (STM32F303 CPU + 4` display module) for next tinySA generation You can flash it to H4 and see how it work (yes no any tinySA hardware on H4, and you not see spectre, but all menus work, sweep times and e.t.c) H4 allow SD card, so in next tinySA possible save something to it PS STM32F303 have hardware FPU, and in it SI4432 run on hardware SPI mode, so it allow moew fast work, minimum Zero Span time = 700us, also values convert (if use Volt for example) less slowdown.

Listen to received signals?

After reading all the buzz I ordered one from Aliexpress. I see there were twenty orders from them in the last day or so1 Is there any way to LISTEN to the displayed signals? 73 Mike K4QET -- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus

ISSUE REPORT: New release: improved screen capture and better trigger status
18
On Sat, Jul 25, 2020 at 05:40 AM, Erik Kaashoek wrote: New FW released: v1.0-39 New tinySA.exe release Erik, I experienced the following issue with the new tinySA.exe release: 1. tinySA serial port not showing in drop-down list and tinySA can't connect. Tried to load tinySA.cfg file Tried to connect to tinySA serial port. 2. Strangely, even though the main interface won't run and no serial port shows as selected, the screenshot function works. By chance I tried to capture a screenshot and it worked, even though the main screen shows no device connected. 3. I tried deleting the 'Kaashoek\SpectrumAnalyzer' directory and letting tinySA create a fresh installation without any change. - Herb

Menu tree added to wiki

To aid first time users I added a menu tree to the wiki https://tinysa.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.MenuTree The various menu items are explain in one line of text. More information on menu items can be available under Menu details

How long till your tinySA is shipped?

On monday July 27th there is sufficient stock for all orders. Due to the large amount of orders however it may take some days before your order is shipped.

A comment to the TinySA.exe

Hi Erik I slowly learn to treat the TinySA the right way. One funny detail is that the vertical grid lines for the Log sweep show up when Center frequency is set to 0 and the span to max frequency. The ini file need and update like Herb has pointed out as the Level per dB must be 32 and not 2 and Herb mention the -125 should be changed to -128 why I have not figured out. Kind regards Kurt

Tracking generator option
15
Using two tinySA, one as spectrum analyzer in low input mode and the other as tracking generator with external modulation input The tracking generator can be set to a small offset so it is possible to do some tests on mixers. The metal can is a 110MHz BPF

Tuning sweep settings
The tinySA has (too?) many settings to optimize the scanning for a specific measurement purpose. I added a wiki page that shows what impact some of these have on scan time and noise level. https://tinysa.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.SweepSettings

TinySA Frequency Range

I understand there needs to be a frequency limit somewhere, but just wondering why 960mHz. I would love to see it go to maybe 1.5gHz. Keith

A smal report
8
Hi All For those still considered to purchase a TinySA I have made a very rude report which gives an idea how it is to use the TinySA and see the complexity of this fantastic product My apology for not organizing it better as I just did this report for a friend who asked some questions how clean the signal generation was and what noise floor it had. So It is compared to my HP signal generator which is supposed be one of the better onces. So I did measure the phase noise of that signal generator which sets the level for what TinySA is able to measure, and also two amplifiers OIP3 and there was a considerable difference. Have fun Kind regards Kurt

Shipping notification

I just got an email notice from Alibaba that my TinySA has shipped. I probably got in one of the first orders (I went to the site nine minutes after the email arrived) so I may have been near the front of the line, but it does mean the shipping process has begun.

Scanraw command

#console_commands
Erik, Has the binary format of the scanraw command Changed? The following conversion no longer seems to work for me: level (in dBm) = ( byte 3 (0x5C) + (byte 4 (0x00) * 256) ) / 2 - 128 -> -82dBm The above worked for me previously, but for a displayed value ~-25.5dBm I'm receiving a byte pair of 0x9e and 0x0c. Thought I'd check with you before spent time debugging my script. - Herb

USB power question
7
Hello, Can the TinySA be connected to a USB power supply and operate directly off of the USB supply thus not discharging the internal battery or does the USB connection only provide power for charging? Thank you.

HIGH input Level Calibration
2
Erik, While reading your recent wiki entry on coax cable impact, I noticed your screen captures indicated you had performed a HIGH input level calibration: LEVEL calibrated: white system colors LEVEL un-calibrated: red system colors Have you developed a procedure for performing a HIGH input level calibration that has not been posted yet? - Herb

Coax cable shielding
3
For those not used to a sensitive device as a spectrum analyzer I added a page to the wiki to illustrate the (im)perfection of coax shielding. https://tinysa.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.CoaxCableImpact This shielding is particularly important with a close proximity strong transmitter at high frequencies

DTT spectrum in "high input"
8
Hi all. I come to this group from the nanoVNA group. I don't have a tinySA yet but I will surely buy one. I would like to see a sweep of the "high" input of the analyzer scanning the UHF DTT band to know how the 8MHz channels are displayed without the 433.9MHz bandpass filter. Thanks in advance -- EA1AWY Javier Muriedas (Gijón, Asturias, Spain)
