Console mode question..
5
#console_commands
I'm reading the documentation while waiting for my tinySA to arrive. It's a used one and has old firmware. V1.0-86: latest is V1.0-91. The upgrade page mentions "console mode" but not what it is and how to enter it.. And even if I 'should' upgrade.. Could someone please enlighten me? Thanks

TinySA bug reporting process?

Is there a repository of software/firmware defects and the current status? A link on TinySA.org would be useful. Maybe there but I can not find the URL. -- 73, Bernie, VE3FWF (most typos in this message were generated by highly sophisticated auto-correction software)

Variable Horizontal Grid Lines
3
Erik, No rush to respond as I know you are on travel. With V1.0-86 Changes: specifically the increase in minimum number of frequency grid lines to be shown, the variable horizontal grid line spacing can become visually distracting: Automatic horizontal grid-lines after changing start frequency to 1MHz. Can a display option be added that limits the horizontal grid lines to the previous default of 8, or at most 10, for those users who prefer a more conventional screen scaling? - Herb

Detecting a noise source

Just received my tinySA - it's on charge at the moment. A new noise has showed it's ugly head a few weeks ago at my QTH. A wide pulsing burst occurring about every 1-2 seconds at S7 !! And swamps about from 3 MHz to 14 Mhz How can I use the tinySA to try to identify/locate what it is? Any help, ideas, instructions wold be very welcome.. -- Dave KK7SS DN06ij

Phase noise of tinySA compared to Rigol DSA815
After seeing this video https://youtu.be/MCBrhxPQotU?t=152 I wanted to compare the phase noise of the Rigol DSA815 with the tinySA In the Rigol video the phase noise is measured at 10kHz distance and is about -85dBc/Hz How about the tinySA? Well, it is a bit worse, but not much: -83dBc/Hz

New to the group
5
Good morning group, I got my tinySA three days ago. I have downloaded tinysa.exe and paired my tinySA to a TAB PRO S tablet. I was guided to this site in a discussion about the tiny on another site. I got the tiny as a replacement for my 60-year-old HP141 that died again. My prime use for the tiny is, analysis and repair of Amateur radio ssb transmitters and receivers. So far, I am impressed with the little guy. I have used it to look into balanced modulators and some xtal filter schemes. Message for Kurt Poulsen

Hi Kurt, Hope this finds you well. With regard to the User Guide you produced for your presentation about TinySA in Danish language. I think you indicated you may produce a copy in english, forgive me if I missed it but would be very interested in getting a copy. I have read several of your documents and I'm sure it will be a very handy asset for the shack. Thanks in advance. Wayne VK6EH

New tinySA control program for Windows
37
OneOfEleven allowed me to modify nanoVNA-app so it can also read the data of the tinySA Use the version that can be found here: http://athome.kaashoek.com/tinySA/Windows/ After connecting to a tinySA some controls will be hidden. Switching between high and low mode, setting the attenuator or any other setting will have to be done on the tinySA. Sweeping over multiple 290 point segments works, markers can be placed (weirdly enough marker 2 could not be placed on the maximum signal) and you can capture the tinySA screen.

New FW release: Big waterfall and settable minimum gridlines
3
New FW release Version V1.0-96 Changes: - Waterfall now can be in 3 states: off, small and big. - New expert config options: set minimum horizontal gridlines - New expert config options: display HAM bands - Dragging a marker switches off the tracking attribute As I am still traveling this release has seen a bit less testing. Don't use if your tinySA is mission critical and you have difficulty going back to previous release.

Firmware revision log?
5
I just received my tinaSA with firmware version v1.0-59 (build Aug 24, 2020). I note that Erik's site has a number of later Firmware revisions, and I don't know if I should upgrade, or not. Are "features-changed" and/or "bug-fixed" logged anywhere for these revisions? (I couldn't find them on Erik's site, but I might not have looked closely enough.) Thanks, - Jeff, k6jca

How to disable marker tracking by default.
Some people do not like the automatic tracking of the first marker. You can change this default behavior by: Reset the tinySA MARKER/MODIFY MARKER/MARKER 1/ disable tracking PRESET/STORE/STORE AS STARTUP Now whenever you reset the tinySA or do a LOAD STARTUP the first marker will no longer be a tracking marker With the latest firmware you can disable the tracking of the active marker by pushing the jog switch to left or right without menu active

New FW release: Waterfall repairs and Set Marker Frequency

Feature request: Automatic disabling of marker tracking attribute after dragging marker
6
One user request the automatic disabling of the tracking attribute of a marker if you drag the marker so it does not jump back to the strongest signal. This can be done with touch drag, but also when you use the jog switch to move the marker. The latter can more easily be done accidentally after using the jog switch for the menu Any thoughts about having this automatic disabling?
