If OK with you I will push my branch to you so you can easily see the changes I made
Would it be possible for you to enable normalization of line endings in your github repository?

Yes no problem. Though I don't know what's been done or anything, Erik would have to let me see the source code to see what he's done exactly.

Re: New tinySA-App release: Normalize and localisation bug solved

Hi Erik,

The version is really 1.240.5.

A quick test shows that you nailed the problem when writing CSV files. The function to choose the decimal and field separators runs perfectly. This makes very easy to use these files in Excel when Windows uses this configuration. Without it, it is quite cumbersome to do the conversion.

Thank you again.

Re: New FW release: THD measurement added

Eric,

I followed you video and found what I was doing incorrectly even though I was using a stylus.

One has to touch the extreme upper left hand corner and the extreme lower right hand corner to get the correct settings. I was only touching in the general area.

Thanks,

In particular the bottom of the screen calibration is fairly critical.
If you have to press MODE to enter CONFIG you did not touch the screen during calibration close enough to the bottom
The data is automatically saved
when doing the touch test check if a horizontal line at the bottom of the screen is correctly under where the screen is touched.
I have no video yes of the touch calibration. Good suggestion.

Re: New FW release: THD measurement added

Erik, might I make a suggestion.? On the touch calibration screen, you may want to put little plus signs '+' or cross hairs with a dot in the center.? This way people will try harder to touch that little dot.? I think this will make it clearer for people to know exactly where to touch.

Hi Erik,

I'm still trying to find clues to help in the the error due to Windows regional settings, when the decimal separator is a comma.

I has been playing with OneOfEleven's NanoVNA -App v 1.0.244 and this program doesn't give any problem when writing its S1P and S2P output files.

As there is not a function for choosing the decimal separator in the program, it always uses dot, but it doesn't interfere with the writing operation, so it could be a clue about the error found in tinySA-App.

Let me know if you want any further tests, I'm eager to collaborate.

Kind regards,

Ignacio EB4APL

Hi Erik,

I regret to say that the localization problem still exist. I'm using comma as decimal separator in the Windows regional configuration and the program throws this error: "Range check errors" when trying to leave the program (it is due to live.csv file writing attempt). The same happens when trying to save any CSV file. The problem is also in v 1.0.240.3 where is was tried to fix.

I found another remaining text from the cousin program:? The Marker info shows S11 instead of tLevel when in Log Power(dBm). It is shown ok when in Lin Power (Watt).

Best regards,

Ignacio EB4APL

Re: New FW release: THD measurement added

Eric,

I have two TinySA units.

I updated the firmware on one and restored the settings and it is working correctly.

I updated the firmware on the second unit and did a CLEARCONFIG , performed a TOUCH CAL, TOUCH TEST, CALIBRATION and VERIFICATION.

The issue I have with the second unit is after the? TOUCH CAL and TOUCH TEST the menus are not aligned correctly. For example I have to press MODE to enter CONFIG.

How can I properly execute the TOUCH CAL and TOUCH TEST? How do I SAVE it? Would you have a video sowing this procedure?

Re: New tinySA-App.exe: Added mode, rbw and attenuation buttons

Hi,

Thanks for the comments. I have lived by the idea that newer is not always *better*. Clearly there are some advantages now to installing a later version of software in the instruments. My comment about "giant economy size" is not about the size of the program but is a mockery of Madison Avenue (advertising) hype:)

I will dig into information I can find on youtube, WIKI, and the io file section and then ask questions here if I have to. Thanks to Erik for pointing to the command line options. I can probably wrap those in a script but that looks like overkill for the task.

I have been doing some things with Arduino systems and it is time to add some new branches.

Re: New FW release: THD measurement added

Sorry for not being clear, I meant the USART serial interface (hidden inside the housing) is disabled because of space limitations.
Nobody was using it as I did not promote it.
Will investigate to get back some space so I can re-enable

Erik,
? I'm not sure what serial console in the FW you are referring to.? There is a serial console function in tinySA-App for sending console commands, but on the PC side space should not be an issue.

Re: New tinySA-App.exe: Added mode, rbw and attenuation buttons

Using the .dfu file the command line is even shorter
dfu-util -a 0 -D tinySA.dfu

Re: New tinySA-App.exe: Added mode, rbw and attenuation buttons

For updating using linux there is a program call dfu-util

It also runs under windows, this is my commandline
c:\work\DFU\dfu-util? -a 0 -s 0x08000000:leave -D c:\work\VNA\tinySA\build\tinySA.bin
under linux this should be something similar

remember: you can NOT brick a nanoVNA or tinySA. If the update goes wrong, worst case you have to open the housing and connect two contact while powering on and you always can try again

New FW release: THD measurement added

New FW release
Version v1.1-9

Changes:
- Disabled serial console due to insufficient space
- Added THD measurement so MEASUREMENT/MORE menu

The THD measurement gives the % TDH of the signal that is under the first marker by summing the power of all harmonics of the signal under the first marker in the current scan
The maximum number of harmonics you can take into account is about 30 so with a full span in low mode you can measure the THD of the cal output at 15MHz and 30MHZ but not 10MHz or lower.
For lower frequencies reduce the span till the THD measurement appears.

Can someone check if the measured number is about correct?
