Re: New tinySA-App.exe: Added mode, rbw and attenuation buttons
For updating using linux there is a program call dfu-util
It also runs under windows, this is my commandline c:\work\DFU\dfu-util? -a 0 -s 0x08000000:leave -D c:\work\VNA\tinySA\build\tinySA.bin under linux this should be something similar remember: you can NOT brick a nanoVNA or tinySA. If the update goes wrong, worst case you have to open the housing and connect two contact while powering on and you always can try again |
Re: New tinySA-App.exe: Added mode, rbw and attenuation buttons
The firmware DFU files are not big really, about 100kb. I guess that¡¯s getting close to filling up the internal storage. On Linux there is tinySA-Saver but I¡¯ve been told it barely functions. For flashing the firmware on Linux it looks like there is some command line programs. On Wed, Oct 7, 2020 at 6:52 AM Bill Cromwell <wrcromwell@...> wrote: Hi, --

Hi,

I have a nanoVNA H4 and now 2 of the tinySA. I have been reluctant to install any of the "upgrades". I can now afford to risk one of the tinySA units to try installing the "new, improved, giant economy size" software. I am not using PC software for these yet and may decide to not use it. I will not have Windows in my home - actually my computer. So updates to exe files have no appeal unless they will run under WINE. I will go to the files and WIKIs to get a handle on what to do. 73, Bill KU8H bark less - wag more On 10/6/20 11:42 PM, josephlevy via groups.io wrote:

New FW release: THD measurement added
New FW release
Version v1.1-9 Changes: - Disabled serial console due to insufficient space - Added THD measurement so MEASUREMENT/MORE menu The THD measurement gives the % TDH of the signal that is under the first marker by summing the power of all harmonics of the signal under the first marker in the current scan The maximum number of harmonics you can take into account is about 30 so with a full span in low mode you can measure the THD of the cal output at 15MHz and 30MHZ but not 10MHz or lower. For lower frequencies reduce the span till the THD measurement appears. Can someone check if the measured number is about correct? |
Re: Different scan images when USB connected
Dragan and Jim, Thanks for the input. I'll look for a better USB cable other than the ones that came with the SA. I have some ferrite cores so I took one and wrapped a few loops around it at the SA micro USB end. Seems to have worked a little.?I don't have a USB isolator so I'll see what I can find on the InterWebs. More tests foreseen.? Thanks again! *** Walt *** WA7SDY ***

Re: New tinySA-App.exe: Added mode, rbw and attenuation buttons
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Erik, I regret to say that the localization problem still exist. I'm using comma as decimal separator in the Windows regional configuration and the program throws this error: "Range check errors" when trying to leave the program (it is due to live.csv file writing attempt). The same happens when trying to save any CSV file. The problem is also in v 1.0.240.3 where is was tried to fix. I found another remaining text from the cousin program:? The Marker info shows S11 instead of tLevel when in Log Power(dBm). It is shown ok when in Lin Power (Watt). Best regards, Ignacio EB4APL

New FW releasedErik, ? The 'External Amp' setting is working on my installation.? In the screen capture below I have a 6dB attenuator attached between the 30MHz CAL out and the low port.? With -6dB entered in the tinySA-App 'External Amp' box, the tinySA 'Amp' status display is shown as -6.0dB and both tinySA and tinySA-App show a corrected value of -24.6dBm at 30MHz. ? ? ?The 'External Amp' value isn't transferred automatically from the tinySA to tinySA-App in the opposite direction, but the measured levels match, which is the important thing. The 'Full Range' button seems to be mislabeled as it doesn't really change the tinySA-App sweep settings to the full range - unless the tinySA is set to the full range. - Herb |
Re: Different scan images when USB connected
Try it with a good quality USB cable. Most big brand phone chargers come with properly built cables so that's an easy source. Most "replacement" USB cables are not build up to spec, no shielding, non bonded shells, etc. On Tue, 6 Oct 2020 at 17:33, Walt M. via <wa7sdy_1=[email protected]> wrote:
