Re: Tip of the day

Same concept as putting a screen protector over an LCD except you are using clear packing tape. The result resembles a laminated document and protects the label from daily wear.

Re: Replacement Jog Switch Info?

There is a mod section that shows a mod using 3 push button switches. Shows where to connect them
I am getting a metal case for my TinySA. I already. Got one and installed my NamoVNA H in it.
The only thing I do not like, is the Jog Switch sets to high out of the case.
Will have to install a couple spacers next to the jog switch? to emanate the raised portion on the original?plastic case.
Other than that, the metal case is really nice as well as? shielding for the device.

Re: Hello

ok, after loading stm software, and tinysa-app software, i then went into the device manager, left screen there, connected usb cable, turned on tinysa, got beep on computer but no sign of driver, then selected on the tinysa - config- dfu-enter dfu, windows device manager updates and showes under - usb controller - stm device in dfu mode, hope it helps,.

Re: Tinysa tracking generator #feature_request

Did you look at the examples in the wiki?

Re: Tinysa tracking generator #feature_request

Im ultra interested in this, Im trying to build an amateur radio repair station. AMATEURE... I think a TinySA, NanoVNA, a Tracking Gen all in one box would be a VERY VERY good solution. I already have a Marconi 2955, but this would help in a LOT of other ways.

As the cloners are probably reading these messages I prefer not to explain how I know a product is a clone.

Mario,

As all levels are way too high you its hard to believe its a attenuator problem.
Could you start with CONFIG/LEVEL CAL/RESET CALIBRATION
The levels indicators at the left of the grid should turn red to signal the device is no longer calibrated.
Now try to do a level calibration (do not forget to connect the cable between high and low) and post the picture if the calibration fails.
If the calibration succeeds, rerun selftest

Re: What to do when a selftest fails

Hello Eric,

How can you tell from the picture that it a clone ?

Vidas

Repair info

Well, I seem to have done something stupid and believe I have a failed attenuator.

I was debugging a new SSB exciter capable of only about +10dbm maximum at best case - which the spec seems to show is safe, and I briefly did a few tests without an attenuator before putting one on - but that's all water under the bridge now...

I saw no sign of a problem other than one or two red status lines after I put the 16db attenuator on and thought everything was still just fine.

After I finished debugging, I took the precaution of running the self test 1,2,5 and 9 all now report "above critical" and tests 3,4,7 and 10 now fail. I assume somehow I got some kind of transient output exceeding +10 while debugging (even though the circuit shouldn't be able to deliver that much power). Oh well, it's the cost of doing development!

Without a schematic, I cant' do much to repair this. Can you provide me with enough information to attempt one? I'm sure this must be a common failure mode, since the input is a little fragile. I've learned my lesson and will no always use a 30db attenuator even if I don't think it's going to be needed!

I can probably come up with parts and muddle through a repair myself - given enough information

It's version 1.1-59ge430685 according to the version screen. I'm enclosing self-test screens, but it would be nice if you could produce a concise summary of failures on a single screen for use in such cases (even better if a text summary could be dumped to the terminal instead of making me find a windows machine - wait for it to update and then transfer files around)..

thanks,

M

Re: TinySA driver???

I had to update a driver on Windows 10 in order for the TinySA to be seen. I just went to updates in Settings and let windows update the driver for me.?

Hal

Re: TinySA driver???

had same problem here, used tinysa-app , for 4 hrs for 2 days, looking thru sub folders i douna a folder with drivers for win 7,7,10. using win 10, tinysa-app finally saw the tinysa, just by trial and error i got the new version 1.1.77 to load, after about 4 tries, someone smarter than me should make a how to do sequence list. . yes u need to find the subfolder with the drivers.

TinySA driver???

Hello to all, I am trying to load the updated firmware to the tinySA, but when I go to put th3 file in the DFU File Manager, set the tinySA to DFU mode,I cannot see the tinySA in the Available DFU Devices, and it will not install. I am wondering if I need to install a Driver for this tinySA,or what to do,i am running Windows 10. Any help or let me know what I need to do will be Appreciated. I want to thank al who may help me out. Have a great day,,also, this little thing is totally amazing, as I set my Signal Generator to the side, and use this SA when I am aligning CB radios, it works pretty well, need to get a power pack for this for when I go to work on the antenna this spring,as the batteries do hold up pretty well, as it is to hold for about 2 hours. Thanks again,,Mark,,

mine broke 1hr after getting my vna but rather than changing the switch i think i will go with a much simpler solution (for me) and just replace with 3 regular miniature push button switches and in my opinion these jog switches are way too easy to break again.

Re: What to do when a selftest fails

Thank you Erik!

Re: What to do when a selftest fails

Sorry, but this is an illegal clone. No doubt.
A very nice visual copy, but not at the right performance.

Seems authentic.

Re: What to do when a selftest fails

Robert,
I'm not sure this is a genuine tinySA
Can you post photos of the sticker on the back and the PCB?
