Fw: Re: Fw: Re: v5.0 SoftRock design
I see three basic areas.........
1) The standalone SR-40 based unit without a "large external computer".
Similar to the "futures...." project which George mentions (and what

I think a much better solution for experimenters would be to define a
software interface and implement a call to a dll which would do the
hardware interface. This dll could be changed

Re: Fw: Re: v5.0 SoftRock design
Checkout the AMQRP Micro 908. It contains a DSP card, a DDS board, a
processor, a tuning knob, 2 X 16 LCD and connectors for audio in/out, a keyboard,
and an RS-232 port.

That's certainly the idea. See
http://www.amqrp.org/kits/softrock40/futures.html
which is also elaborated on in a current Homebrewer Mag article.
The prototype is now much further along than either

Both the Drake R-4c and Yaesu FT-101 used switched banks of variable

Re: v5.0 SoftRock design
Hi Tony and all
Toroids in the BPF are better than tha former inductors as maybe the
higher Q can help some the filter.
In my observation (region 1, middle-east) there are
definitly 'leakages" on

version I was getting the message about Sound Blaster Live not working
on output. It's working now. Great program, especially

Good Morning All,
There have been a number of good comments concerning the v5.0 schematic. Those comments along with my own concerns about certain things in the posted schematic have motivated me to

Tony the phase shift network looks awful simple, how wide a frequency range can it take before it is too far out of wack.
Specially since the Rocky software is the only one at this time that

I think he is passing the one clock through the switch that is controlled by the other clock, I think it is to prevent overlapping clocks without using extra gates.

Hello Tony and all
Please make the antenna input floating (so the filter ground is not
connected to the rest of the ground of the RS), otherwise it is a major
groundloop noise contributor!! (at least

Re: SoftRock v5.0 schematic
I'm a little mystified by the switch control logic in the mixer.
The FST3126 data sheet indicates the control inputs are pins 1, 4, 10 and 13 and that these need logic level drive.
The logic level

The sound is a little better, but still not good. The input is still
reading +6db both L & R. Still reads the input as mono, the auto I Q
Balance does not work.

Re: SR-40 at 1uV & 50uV w/XG-1
Looks good Chuck. I read about a 34dB difference between the two RF
input levels. This corresponds well to the voltage ratio of 50. Also
note the baseline noise is about 30dB below 1uV RMS. This
