Beautiful Full Moon
Although I can not see it actually come over the horizon, I did see a beautiful full moon last night. A prayer for peace and prosperity as well as good health for all the Bobcats in the moon glow, whether in the house or out and about. Sure looking forward to seeing so many of you in October. John T. Since yesterday was Augustus the Firstus and I had fettuccini for lunch, does that qualify as being on a Roman holiday? John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Great Week End
6
I hope everyone had a great week end, no fireworks required, and are ready to make this a great week. Other than another work day at the church, where we "fixed" several of the fluorescent lights, planed down a "sticking" door and made several other "adjustments" to make sure everything was in good shape for Sunday morning, I spent a relatively quiet week end at home. I still had a good bit of "doing nothing" left over from last week so I tried to catch up and start this week fresh. I did have the pleasure of going to the mens lunch gathering today which is a monthly "thing" for the men of our church. There were about a dozen that made it so we had a good time talking and just visiting. Almost all of them are former military so there was a lot of talk about if and when they might have gotten to visit Thailand while serving. Bangkok, Thailand, was where I took my R&R during my first tour in Vietnam. It was a wonderful week as it was the first time in seven months that I got to sleep on a real bed with actual sheets and have hot water to shower and shave. I think I took about five showers a day just to enjoy the hot water. It was ironic that the Thai restaurant they had decided to go to is partly owned by the daughter of my first ex-wife. It was good to visit with her a bit and the food was very good. I think all but one or two of us took part of our meal home as the portion size is quite large. So, now it is up to you to go have a great week. By the way, it would not hurt to get on this site more often. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Squirrel on feeder
Our neighbor used to have squirrel feeder in the tree in front of their house but have now put the house up for sale. Since they took down their feeder, Sandy got one for our tree and now the squirrels are finding a new source of food. They are fun to watch and sure didn't take long to figure out how to get the food out of the feeder. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. A Towel Thief Visited Our House
3
No, it wasn't one of the grandkids stocking up their dormitory room with towels. Sandy usually keeps a towel out on the chair on the back porch to wipe down the dog when she goes out and the grass is wet. The towel was on the chair until this towel thief came along and tried to abscond with it. Since squirrels usually have two litters a year, I imagine this one is looking to build a nest and thought the towel would come in right handy. As you can see in the third photo, the towel made it all the way up the tree to a limb about ten feet off the ground. I did thwart the little thief's efforts by retrieving the towel from the tree limb. If you look close at the third photo, you can see the squirrel flat out on the limb by the towel. Yes, from now on, we will be keeping the towels inside. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. Have A Great Week
3
Just wanted to wish all of you to have a great week. I looked at my calendar and there are a lot of open spaces but, the other day when I was doing nothing, I ran out of time so I still have a lot of that to catch up on. You know how it is, just because I'm doing nothing, it doesn't mean I want to do something. Seems as how I usually wind up doing something I had not really planned on doing so I don't get to use up all my doing nothing time. Anyway, hope all of you have a great week. (And, let's hear from you if you are doing nothing or something.) John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. Great Trip
Had a great trip to San Angelo last weekend and really enjoyed the Family Summer Gathering out in Water Valley. Visiting with family is always great and when you come from a family of really great cooks, well, you can't help but sample "just a little bit" of everything offered. Even got to experience a short downpour on Sunday morning while I was trying to get the truck loaded. All in all, a great weekend. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Miss Mine Fulgham
9
Just to keep y¡¯all informed. Mine woke Jim up last Monday morning to take her to the ER in Laredo. She was having a rapid pulse and not feeling good. She spent several days in the hospital recovering from a tooth infection. After pulling 3 teeth and getting her infection under control, they installed a pacemaker yesterday to get her heart back ticking correctly. She went home today and all is well. All of the dogs are happy and her bunches of birds will get fed. Bubba will assume the cooking duties for the next few days. He can handle the job with no problems. Mickey
