Well, it has begun, 2024 is ready to make its run. I think we should all try to make it a year of fun. Mary Sue and Foy will be all in smiles as they skim along the miles. The rest of us will be paying attentions to our own whims and whiles. In case you have not guessed, a poet I am not. If it gave you a laugh or even a snicker, at least it was a time to not bicker. I hope all of you have a Happy New Year and enjoy every minute of it. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. Can You Believe It????? 11
Today finishes off the last Friday we will see this year and only two more days until the whole year will be done. I don't know about all y'all, but as I get older these years seem to get shorter. An old friend up in New Jersey once told me that life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer to the end you get, the faster it goes. I'm not at the end of that roll by any means but somehow, I just don't worry about the days and years very much. I'm grateful for the many friends that I have, such as all the classmates from San Jacinto Elementary, Washington Junior High, Edison Junior High and Central High School. And, even more grateful for all the years we have shared that friendship and all the years we can look forward to. I guess what I am trying to say is Thank You for being a friend and wishing you a Happy New Year. Take especially good care of yourselves and stay warm. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Beautiful Full Bobcat Moon 3
Although Tuesday is the official date of the full moon, when I took the dog out earlier, I did see a beautiful full moon shining through the trees. As always, I said my usual prayer that all the Bobcats under the light of the full Bobcat moon, no matter if they are outside or inside, to ask for good health, happiness and prosperity for each and every one of them. A social worker from Ohio, who was recently transferred to the mountains of North Georgia, was on the first tour of his new territory when he came upon the tiniest cabin he had ever seen in his life. Intrigued, he went up and knocked on the door. "Anybody home?" he asked. "Yep," came a kid's voice through the door. "Is your father there?" asked the social worker. "Pa? Nope, he left before Ma came in," said the kid. "Well, is your mother there?" persisted the social worker. "'Ma? Nope, she left just before I got here," said the kid. "But what," protested the social worker, "are you never together as a family?" ''Sure, but not here," said the kid through the door. "This is the outhouse." John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. The trap is set... Update 2
Checked the trap this afternoon and no critter. I will just have to keep it ready and waiting for it. Don, if it is an Artic elf, he will have to have a lot of DeWalt tools to redeem himself. John T. Christmas Snow Fall 17
I don't think I was dreaming of a white Christmas in 1958, but this picture was taken about that time in front of our house on 2024 North st. That's my mom's '54 Buick parked out front. It was cold outside and not much different inside our house..seems like I was always cold back then.

Removed myself 6
Well well, I'm not for sure that my little retired tidbits are worth putting out there, but I have missed many of what goes on on some friends sites. I got tired of the scamers and clones, so I unfriended most of my fb classmates and so I don't see a lot. It was nothing personal, just didn't need the aggravation. I was out in San Angelo last month with Danny Jones and we drove around our old stomping grounds and told stories of yester years, some close to lies, but overall had a good day. Now, with Christmas near and the tree is up, house outside lights are on and all is left is figuring out the food menu. I celebrated my 79th birthday last week, my wife will have a birthday on the 15th and my sister on the 20th. If this message gets through, I hope all who read it, will have a safe and happy Christmas..and I hope to see you all at our next class reunion, if not before. Best regards, John Fore, 12/12/2023

Lonesome 8
Every day I look forward to seeing all those posts from classmates so I can see what all everyone is doing, and everyday is another disappointment because no one is posting here. Had a sort of work day at the church on Saturday, even though I am no longer in charge of that committee. Six of the men got together and we put wire handles on 25 #10 cans for the Day School to use for their Christmas activities. We had a good time swapping stories and helping each other to get the wire twisted "just right" and then a section of heat shrink tubing put over the twist so there is no sharp points to worry about. Our last Can Handle project was to put the handles on 25 cans that the Day School decorated and let the kids take home for their Trick or Treat containers. So, what have all y'all been doing??? Fun Day Tomorrow 5
Yep, tomorrow is going to be a fun day, not as fun as some of them but you know how that is. Tomorrow I have to go in for another series of Botox injections around both eyes. It is about like having eight bees stinging you around the eyes, one bee at a time. Luckily, I only have to go in every three months but it does help with the blepharo spasms around my eyes which are very irritating. Other than the pain from the stings, it usually causes my eyelids to droop, especially the left one. That is because the Botox relaxes the muscles around the eyes and lets the eyelid droop a bit. It takes several days for it to get closer to being normal so for few days I will look sleepy eyed. Any way, since I will be having so much fun tomorrow, all y'all need to try to have some fun as well, real fun that is. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Trip to San Angelo Update
Well, Thanksgiving was all I had hoped it would be and probably a bit more. The food was great and abundant so, of course, I ate my fill and then some. I only made one foray by the dessert table to sample several of the goodies. My niece had made a mincemeat pie since she knows I really like mincemeat pie so I had to have another slice of that with mid-afternoon coffee. Yes, I did snatch a few cookies as well but you know that is part of the duties of an uncle and you just can't let family down. Tomorrow I will drag myself out from under those warm blankets and in short order, I will be heading back home. Lucky for me, the Stripes station where I always gas up the truck also has a Laredo Taco section so that will be breakfast and then I hit the road home. Hopefully I can get most of the driving done by the time those who celebrated a bit too much get up and get moving. So now we have to get going in the Christmas spirit and show that we do know the reason for the season. My oldest sister who was always ready to get folks laughing used to wait until after Thanksgiving dinner was done, the food put away and the dishes done and then start on Christmas. She was known for changing from her "Thanksgiving clothes" into a new Christmas sweatshirt or putting on her elf hat. We never knew what she was going to do before hand. Take good care of yourselves and take time for yourselves. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. Some of you may have heard of the group, the Blues Travelers, well, the man who passed away was Johnny Popper's father, Robert Popper. Since that wasn't bad enough, I learned that another good friend who had been fighting bone cancer and throat cancer had decided to go into hospice and in less than a week, he also passed away. He was one of my old police partners in Trenton, NJ. He was also in the academy class that I helped teach just after I got certified by the NJ State Police as an instructor. Once he got transferred to the same car that I worked, we always kidded about it being just a continuation of the class. We had a lot of good times working together.
