Trip to San Angelo
Made the drive from home to San Angelo this morning with out hitting too much traffic even going through Fredericksburg. Got an early start so that might have helped some. Met some of my nieces and nephews at the downtown Fuentes restaurant for supper and some visiting. Ate more than I should have but the food was excellent, just like it was at the old place. Tomorrow is a trip to Water Valley for our family Thanksgiving and more eating too much and as much visiting as I can do. I am really looking forward to that. I was really feeling low for about the last week as I learned that a man I used to work for had passed away. He was not only a good boss but a mentor and great friend as well. Some of you may have heard of the group, the Blues Travelers, well, the man who passed away was Johnny Popper's father, Robert Popper. Since that wasn't bad enough, I learned that another good friend who had been fighting bone cancer and throat cancer had decided to go into hospice and in less than a week, he also passed away. He was one of my old police partners in Trenton, NJ. He was also in the academy class that I helped teach just after I got certified by the NJ State Police as an instructor. Once he got transferred to the same car that I worked, we always kidded about it being just a continuation of the class. We had a lot of good times working together. I'll miss both of my old friends but I'm getting more used to their having passed. I guess this trip really comes at a good time for me to get me back on track again. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and gets to eat a lot more than they need. All y'all take good care of yourselves and keep sending out news about that 60 year reunion. John T. Thanks for the update, John. Have a happy Thanksgiving with the family and cheer up, old pal.
My son Kelly is driving down from Charleston with his wife and son and her parents who live here in Atlanta are coming over as well. As the only one who knows how to cook a turkey with all the trimmings, the cooking falls on me pretty much every year. This year, I¡¯m roasting it on the Big Green Egg for the first time. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! |
Im spending the day with my daughter this year in Roswell. Not cooking one thing!! sharon

Good for you, Sharon!??
Our daughter is hosting this year, but we're taking the turkey and ham.? Turkey was roasted and cut up yesterday; it's in one crockpot and sliced ham in another.
Wishing all a blessed Thanksgiving!
Gloria
