Re: Where (or What) to Begin?
I enjoyed the QRP HomeBuilder blog of VE7BPO, matches the spirit of this group very well. It certainly gave me a big push to (re)start homebrewing. It seems to be off the WWW, but the Wayback Machine

Re: Manhattan Projects: An Update[long]
I just wanted to add that, while the LT1252 is not the cheapest part around, it is still available from Mouser and Digikey. Mouser have the SMT version for $6.94 and the thru-hole one for $6.68. At

Re: Where (or What) to Begin?
Try to get to nearby hamfests, eventually someone? may have emrfd at a reasonable price. Until then, see what you want to build, and put this crew to work to find info. I saw several completed qrp

Re: Manhattan Projects: An Update[long]
I hope that a few folk get on board with building an SST Manhattan-style. I'm looking forward to following along, though I can't commit to anything, as I'm a bit tapped out from just finishing a

Re: Where (or What) to Begin?
Welcome Joel. I definitely agree with those who think that something simpler than an SST would be better for a first Manhattan/Ugly build. It can take a few simple projects to get your technique down.

Re: Where (or What) to Begin?
Joel, Concur with Chuck's recommendation of the scribd.com site. It is a pay site at $11.95 per month and you have to proffer a card but there is a 30-day free trial and there are a lot of

There is a viewable copy at scribd.com. I've heard that the ARRL is considering reprinting it, since there is a demand for it.? This group might speed things up by emailing one or more editors at the

Where can I find EMRFD? It's out of print and the cheapest I've seen it on eBay, Amazon, or AbeBooks is right around $100. Is that just the going price? 73, Joel, W4JBB

Re: Where (or What) to Begin?
Joel Indeed better to consider a simpler project. A receiver, perhaps direct conversion or a regen comes to mind. At a time when Ozark Patrol kits were sold out, I did one homebrew. Manhattan can be

Re: NC40A PA transistor test (10 each of 3 types tested) (with Watts added)
Thanks to Doug for reminding me I forgot to put the watts in. Looking at the watts, it doesn't seem like much change between transistors, does it. Voltage gives a much finer resolution if one wants to

Take the Vpp, square it, then divide it by 400 = watts. (Roughly 2 watts but varies a little for each transistor.) Steve
