looking for advice moving my shack pc to linux

Hi, I want to switch away from Windows on my shack computer. I have QLog installed, WSJT-X, etc. but there is a part of my workflow I don't know how to reproduce in this environment. Today my setup is this: I have two radios connected to two instances of WSJT-X-Improved. WSJT-X feeds decode data to JTAlert, which then sends the decodes to DX Lab Suite "SpotCollector". SpotCollector receives the WSJT-X decodes as "local spots", which are then filtered and will raise an alarm if I need the band/country/grid/etc. I set up "band hopping" on WSJT-X-Improved, so my two radios each rotate between 2-4 bands, depending on the hour of the day and expected propagation. This works very well, except my shack computer runs Windows 10, which will EOL in October, and I don't want to replace the hardware, which is more than adequate for the job (3.5 GHz i7 clocked at 5 GHz. It's a good, fast machine, with extra USB ports and extra serial ports, purpose built for my shack...) Microsoft's cavalier attitude "just buy a new computer" really makes me want to move my hamshack workloads all onto Linux. (I have QLog and WSJT-X-Improved both installed on Fedora 41, this works well, I just do not have the "unworked" notifications...) I considered using "GridTracker" but it is an Electron app which means it uses too much memory and too much CPU, so perhaps no GridTracker. That's an option, just not a particularly appealing option. Can any body offer some suggestions/advice for me to produce something similar to what I have now? Thanks, Jeff n1kdo

Has anyone gotten morse over CAT to work with a FTDX-10, or any radio for that matter? The only Qlog macro that kind of works is F3. I say kind of works because it doesn't send the message setup in the macro on Qlog. What it sends when I hit F3 is the message memory #5 on my FTDX-10. I tried all options for PC keying (RTS, DTR, etc.) on the FTDX-10 and this doesn't change anything.

All, I'd like to use QLog for this weekends CQ WW WPX contest. This will be my first try at using this feature. I set-up a new Contest ID in Edit Activities (named CQ-WW-WPX), and then added Contest ID, RcvExch, RcvNr, and SentNr to the Row B list. Row A has the default values of Name, QTH, Gridsquare and Comment in it. Next I went to the Values tab and checked Station and Rig. But when I select CQ-WW-WPX from the list to start the contest, the RcvNr and SentNr are greyed out. Log Keeps changing upload status.

Hello, wonder if someone can help me figure out what i am doing wrong? I upload my logs to all available services (QRZ, LotW, etc) and then next day, when i upload new QSO's, it wants to upload everything again, even though they were already sent. Many times i have manual adjusted upload status to 'YES" but next time i check, some are changed again to modified and QLOG wants to upload them. I am using Linux Mint and everything is current version, but this has happened while using QLOG on Windows 11 as well. Thanks Richard VE6PCO

When I click on "Logbook-Awards-DXCC" I only get one entity showing. I expected to get a graph of all the countries I have worked/confirmed. I have around 200 countries worked and 172 or so granted. All the other awards seem to show everything. Is this how DXCC is supposed to work? -- Roy KW4G Sebring, Florida

Hi, Ubuntu 24.04 Hamlib 4.6.2 FT-710 After upgrade to 04.42.2 CAT is completly lost with QLog warning: Rig error: Cannot open rig. Error detail: Bad configuration. I changed nothing in rig configuration. With 0.42.1 everythings worked fine. Checked other logger - working fine without any errors. Checked flrig- same no errors. Checked wsjtx - no errors. Checked windows version of QLog and same result - working fine. So I cleared rig configuration on Ubuntu's QLog and made new one. No success, still same rig error.... Any sugestions? All, I am having an issue with a lost Title Bar QLog V.0.42.1 on Linux Mint Cinnamon. I am uncertain it is a QLog issue, or a Cinnamon issue. Without the title bar I cannot exit the application, minimize, or unmaximize. Perhaps I hit a key string which I had not realized. Don't know. The QLog title bar is missing, and by selecting Alt-Space I can minimize or Close the window, but the Unmaximize is greyed out and the Move Title-bar Onscreen does nothing. QLog is the only application affected. I have search and tried about everything I could find and cannot correct the issue. Export File (Time - Without Seconds)

Hi Ladislav I am setting up a CSV export for QSL card labels using GLabels and notice the time is exported with seconds included, like 23:22:56 for example. I have tried importing the file into a spread sheet and setting the time column to display without seconds, but it has been unsuccessful. The time comes in as a "General Number" and as it is imported as 23:22:56 it will not change the format. I'm using 24 hour time format in Mint Cinnamon with the format set to NOT show seconds and in QLOG its set to 24 hour time under GUI tab. The reason I'd like to omit the seconds is so that it does not take up so much space on the label. I understand it may be of interest for EME or some other mode requiring high accuracy but for HF not so much. Is there a way to remove the seconds from the time format either during export or some other way? 73 Adam VK4IM

Hi all, been meaning to raise this one for a while now. I get some weird results for QSO by continent, for example if I do QSO by Continent with no other filters I get figures that don't make sense. AF and AS show zero and it seems these are bundled up into the EU number? as you can see below it's not showing an AS at all. Probably at least half my contacts would be AS. but if say show me for 15m it's looks about right and shows AS, which doesn't correlate with the above. 30m and 10m I get same weird results where there is no AS but the AS numbers seem to be added to the EU numbers. For example for 10m it is saying I have 8,000 EU contacts which I most certainly do not have (I wish) It also says I have zero AS. Any ideas. More than half the contacts here have been logged in QLOG and I am sure the continent filed is OK as for certain bands the data looks good. 73 Phill C21TS / FK1TS

Random Crashes on 0.42

Hi all, I recently upgraded 3 x PC I use here to 0.42. I now see random crashes where the program just closes when idle. It's never done when in use. 1. CachyOS / Arch, built from source (<25 QSO in log) 2. Mint 22 / Ubuntu 24.04 from PPA (85K QSO) 3. Windows 10 from Installer (25K QSO) So nothing common at all between the 3. Just that I will go to that machine and it will be closed. I have never had a single instance of this pre 0.42. Anyone else? 73 Phill C21TS / FK1TS

New QSOs not being displayed as expected

This afternoon I decided to mess with QLog and WSJT-X to get the latter to talk to the former, which it does. (Hooray!) I also added the PPA to my Mint 22 installation and upgraded to QLog 0.42.0. the previous 0.41.1 installation being built from the tarball. (By the way QLog is the best Linux logging app. Thanks, foldyn! Outstanding work!) When I make a new contact in WSJT-X (v2.71-devel 250206 _TCI 074 Improved PLUS in case that matters), update the Duration in QLog to the current time then click Save the QSO list at the upper left isn't updated as expected, it still only shows several old manually entered SSB contacts. However, when I click View/WSJT-X my recent FT8 contacts appear at the upper right above the map. I was expecting the list of displayed QSOs to all appear in one place, in the list on the upper left, and it be updated as new FT8/FT4 contacts are made.
