28.135USB 300B
Hi Jim. I checked the time stamp and looks like our qso/bbs lasted around 35min give/take, a few min. and one disconnect. 19:54-20:31Z It was reminiscent of the good old days, no qrm, and just casual key to key and BBS. The band dropped out to ur neck O the woods around that 20:31 Z time frame. Was fun, and hpe we can do it again. I did hear a few 1200b usb sigs in there, but only a few, and none I cud decode. 73/warren WB7ECU The band held up well for us Sent with Proton Mail secure email.

Ok Marcel, great. I noticed many beacons so band should still be holding up ok, for a while at least 73/warren Sent with Proton Mail secure email.

OOPs, correction 20:45Z is actually 12:45 PST here so there is more of the day left than I first mentioned. 73/warren WB7ECU Sent with Proton Mail secure email.

Yes Steve What you mentioned appears to be correct when looking at the U.S. band plan. I am operational and beaconing on 28.135 USB at least today and maybe tomorrow, in case there be any interest in trying it. I may be off air for intermittent periods of time while doing some last minute shopping. 73/warren WB7ECU Sent with Proton Mail secure email.

1200 b
Hello Marcel I almost forgot about polling on 28.135.00USB after doing a few hrs of polling yesterday, So just got station up now at @ 20:46 Z. I should have started up earlly this AM because I think there is a 3 hr difference in time zones between us and 10m drops out just before dark here. Anyways 20:46 Z is 1:45 PM PST here, so a few hrs of day lite left. :If you can hear me well enuf to leave BBS msg or connect, I have a /h that aids in posting BBS msg. I still have noise issues to deal with but 10m is much quieter than the other bands 73/warren WB7ECU Sent with Proton Mail secure email.

1200B Packet
7
Last year we did a couple days of experiments on 10m. I managed to leave a msg into VA3UKW-1 BBS, as well as another state side contact. We used USB 1200B. It was my thought that because of 1200 B's faster rate, we could slip a few packets between the fading, and that seemed to be the case. 73/warren WB7ECU Sent with Proton Mail secure email.

10m 1200b
Hi Marcel If I recall I think we congregated up around 28.135USB? I used one of the SCS Trackers in 1200B mode for that, but not long after, I broke one of the male pins on the 6pin din connector, while trying to plug it in back of the FT991A upside down. The location to plug those in in my opinion is less than ideal. It has been a while since I terminated one of those DIN connectors, and they are a bit of a chore to do, so I'll try and get a new male din connector soldered in. It may be after Christmas though. 73/warren WB7ECU Sent with Proton Mail secure email.

KAM XL Firmare
12
Finally we have a new Firmware update for Kantronics KAM - XL users. Not many realize there is the possibility your KAM-XL may reset to factory default. This has been an ongoing problem. All is good until a user connects to your station and checks your heard list by typing J L for the Long list. Bill, W6OAV, did extensive research with several stations capturing data which was sent to Kantronics. More recently Rick, KE0GB, and Ken, KB9KC, were actively a part of the Firmware trial. They received several versions. Each time they updated their XLs W6OAV and I would pound away at them trying several known and unknown failure procedures. to cause a reset. The concern was not just looking for a fix but to be sure nothing else was broken. Sept 1, 2020 the firmware was officially released by Kantronics. This new release is available for download from their website. It is recommended you upgrade your XL. http://shop.kantronics.com/software-updates Thanks to Ken and Rick for being the testers for this long time problem. Bill Burek AC0VC

Packet - what do you consider a "logable" contact?
12
Good Evening Net105'rs! (Before I ask this question I want to clarify I am in the US so logging is not required by the FCC - just in case this is see in other countries.) In your opinion what do you consider a contact that can be logged in packet modes? examples: 1) A new user logs into a packet BBS via RF 2) A packet user leaves you a message on your BBS and you reply 3) You successfully connect to another packet station and leave a message 4) You read a message someone left for you on another station and reply to it 5) You have a keyboard to keyboard chat with another operator via HF 6) You hear another stations beacon In my opinion: 2-5 should be a logged contact 6 - nah, I can't see that as logged 1 - I sort of think this is a valid contact, they did connect via RF and used the BBS to setup an account. What are your thoughts? 73, de Chris - KO4YAW

How to connect?

Hi - Tom KI5BLU here ... new to packet and just got my Teensy hardware TNC up and running ... just using the putty terminal program to connect to the TNC and set the parameters ... monitoring 14.105 I'm hearing a bunch of stations (see below) ... but how to I connect? <ESC> C <CALL SIGN> is supposed to be the connect command ... but that by itself doesn't seem to trigger any transmission. If I just hit <Enter> after that, it sends out fm KI5BLU-7 to N0HI-7 ctl UI^ pid F0 (in this case I had typed <ESC> C N0HI-7 and then hit a separate <CR> after that. Any tips? Easyterm's "Alert the Sysop"
Hi all, Does anyone know how the "Alert the Sysop" function in UZ7HO's Easyterm works? It doesn't send an audio alert to the default system soundcard and it doesn't bring up a text alert. Thanks, 73.

Net 30 (or 30M Packet)

Hi All! Just curious, is there any activity on 30M Packet? If so where (freq and M/S tones) are all the cool kids hanging out these days? Thanks, -Chris KO4YAW

Just a question on MFJ 1278BDSP
Has anyone ever used a MFJ- 1278BDSP for Multiple Modes...including Packet. The DSP model may be better not sure. I have used 1270-B-C and 1274 models all did well even as stand alone nodes with TheNet Chips. Just curious. 73 Lee WB4QOJ Network105

Net10

I know this is the Network105 group but I haven't seen a Net10 group. Hopefully someone here has had an opportunity to try it. https://eindhoven.space/2022/11/14/new-10m-band-net10-qrg/ I have been monitoring the frequency today and have managed to snag a few decodes although I'm not sure they're actually true decodes. I do have FX25 enabled Rx Only. Has anyone actually had any success with packet radio on Net10? It seems that 20M seems to be the favorite place, at least here in the US. I'm going to start beaconing on it tomorrow to see if I can find any other 10M packeteers. 73 de n5pwp Mike

AEA Packrat 232 with mailbox (UPGRADED) $200 or trade
2
I have a AEA Packrat 232 with mailbox for sale. The Packrat has ALL the upgrades done on it except the USB port. All the upgrades were done in 2023 at the manufacture Timewave. It has the latest firmware for the model. It cost me around $270 for the upgrades. The box looks very good. I am selling it because I like a Kamtronics TNC better. I am asking $200 plus shipping. The AEA works like it new. Will take paypal payment. ky4kw ky4jw@...
