Hello Marcel

I almost forgot about polling on 28.135.00USB after doing a few hrs of polling? yesterday, So just got station up now at @ 20:46 Z.? I should have started up earlly this AM because I think there is a 3 hr difference in time zones between us and? 10m drops out just before dark here.
Anyways 20:46 Z is 1:45 PM PST here, so a few hrs of day lite left.

:If you can hear me well enuf to leave BBS msg or connect, I have a /h that aids in posting BBS msg.

I still have noise issues to deal with but 10m is much quieter than the other bands

Hi Michael

See attached as an example of a mfj1270b manual.

There are dip switches on the rear panel that control the serial port speed and the radio speed….. should be covered in the manual,if not i have a couple of snips from the manual with tables of the switch settings.

Yes Steve

?What you mentioned appears to be correct when looking at the U.S. band plan.

I am operational and beaconing on 28.135 USB at least today and maybe tomorrow, in case there be any interest in trying it.? I may be off air for intermittent periods of time while doing some last? minute shopping.

Re: 1200B Packet

I took the info from the IRU Region 2 bandplan... sorry - should have checked ARRL instead.
?
Let me flip the question around then, is there any part in the 10m Band that allows FM and Data?
If not then let's stick to SSB and the frequency mentioned in the beginning.

Sadly we cannot in the US. If I'm not mistaken, we are limited to 28.0 to 28.3 for data on 10m. Above that is phone and image only.
?
But I would love to try 2400 baud sometime, too. :)

Re: 1200B Packet

Do me? a favor and let me know when and on what frequency everybody is going to do this so I can get the word out on other packet groups.
?
Maybe we can do a monthly QSO party on a specific (or rotating) date time.

no objection, 28.135 sounds fine. We could also go higher and try FM??
29200-29300 6000 All modes ACDS?
I remember playing with 10m FM with VP9NO - I believe we even got a connection with 2400 baud going for a while.

Re: 1200B Packet

I'm in! :)
?
Just let me know the frequency and whether LSB or USB. I think last time we used 28.135 LSB (dial frequency) because it fell within the portion of the band which allows for automated stations, 28.120–28.189 MHz in the US.
?
So maybe 28.135 MHz LSB + 1700 Hz (28133.3 center frequency)?
?
Does that work for you in Canada, Marcel?

10m 1200b

Hi Marcel

If I recall I think we congregated up around 28.135USB?

I used one of the SCS Trackers in 1200B mode for that, but not long after, I broke one of the male pins on the 6pin din connector, while trying to plug it in back of the FT991A upside down. The location to plug those in in my opinion is less than ideal. It has been a while since I terminated one of those DIN connectors, and they are a bit of a chore to do, so I'll try and get a new male din connector soldered in. It may be after Christmas though.

Re: 1200B Packet

I wouldn't mind firing up packet and playing some more with 1200baud on 10m or other bands.
Anyone else interested?

1200B Packet

Last year we did a couple days of? experiments on 10m. I managed to leave a? msg into VA3UKW-1 BBS, as well as another state side contact. We? used USB 1200B. It was my thought that because of 1200 B's faster rate, we could slip a few packets between the fading, and that seemed to be the case.

See my prior post, Chris and I actually experimented with this, and it's just a matter of adoption with people agreeing on dual Soundmodem (Windows folks) decoders, and/or the best mode in QTSoundModem that's compatible with both of us 300+600 afsk.?

Welcome to HF Packet, Bob. Network105 traditionally uses 300 baud AX.25, however, due to the limitations being lifted there have been members here experimenting successfully with 600 baud and higher.

New here, so sorry if this is a rehash……. I have been running packet on U/HHF for a long time so typically 1200 or 9600 rate, but i am trying to extend my node reach and looking at HF, ?typically HF was limited to 300 baud but i was wondering if this network was still using 300 on HF or if you have moved up to 1200?

Re: HF packet data rates

Hiya Chris,
?
I actually re-started this discussion just about a year ago :)
?
Sadly, due to hurricanes, I've been off-air (rip G5RV) for the past 6 months
?
?
and this recap of mine specifically,
?
?
The conclusion I and some other Canadian+USA (north-East coast) Hams is that if everyone keeps an recently updated Soundmodem around and enabled a few options (FX25 at a minimum) then 600Baud on the 2nd modem / 'B' slot can work fine. You can also tell various terminal software (EasyTerm) to connect by Port A (300 Baud, normal offset+freq) or Port B (600 baud). It's a bit tricky, but you can config them to do beaconing sequentially without interruptions too
?
My decoded packet-

1:Fm VP9NO To BEACON <UI C? pid=F0 Len=51>[03:27:26R][---+-][AX25 1690]
VP9NO(-1 MBox) FM72 45W FT991A G5RV & 600bd @1225cf
?
Note, that people must ensure (especially with trying 600/1200 baud) that their center frequencies and radios are decently calibrated so we don't overstep the main Network105 (14.105 LSB) frequency :)
?
