Re: Next version FLdigi

1) At this moment (fldigi 4.2.05.15) when selecting all checkboxes, the following is transmitted via UDP:
<CALL:4>R2DK<SUBMODE:0><FREQ:9>14,072470<BAND:3>20m<QSO_DATE:8>20240502<TIME_ON:4>0950<QSO_DATE_OFF:8>20240502<TIME_OFF:4>0950<NAME:5>Serge<QTH:10>Ivanteevka<STATE:0><VE_PROV:0><COUNTRY:15>European Russia<RST_SENT:3>599<RST_RCVD:3>599<TX_PWR:2>43<CNTY:0><DXCC:0><CQZ:2>16<IOTA:0><CONT:0><ITUZ:0><GRIDSQUARE:6>KO85WX<QSLRDATE:0><QSLSDATE:0><EQSLRDATE:0><EQSLSDATE:0><LOTWRDATE:0><LOTWSDATE:0><NOTES:0><SRX:0><STX:3>000<SRX_STRING:0><STX_STRING:0><CLASS:0><ARRL_SECT:0><OPERATOR:6>RW6AVK<STATION_CALLSIGN:6>RW6AVK<MY_GRIDSQUARE:6>KN95LA<MY_CITY:9>Krasnodar<CHECK:0><AGE:0><TEN_TEN:0><EOR>
<submode> is not transmitted - a tag indicating the length of the line 0 is sent, and there is no <mode> at all.
But when using some modulations, only MODE is transmitted (HELL or DOMINO)

2) ADIF says that the delimiter in the frequency field can only be "." = "," is not provided.

Good day David.

After closing (with saving), the checkboxes are not remembered. In Win-7 x86 checkbox "Band" not responsive (on or off) - does not add to the line.

Hi, Dave.

?

Thanks for the suggestions.? As everyone might have realized by now, this is something I could have figured out for myself if I remembered the four letter phrase “RTFM” (Read The Friendly Manual)!? After I was actually seeing a waterfall I tried everything I could think of to have it match what I see when connected to my Win10 laptop and almost everything looks the same now, the exception being that I get much less deflection on the scale at the bottom center of the form, up to about -50 on the Mac and at least half again on the Win10 laptop, both using SignaLink USB interfaces.? I’m not going to sweat that, though.

?

Thanks, again!

But not so that the "Diamond shaped" indicator changes from Green to Yellow, and definitely not Red!

Or, just adjust the two "WF" levels on the left immediately below the waterfall.? The left most, represents the upper level, the other the dynamic range, in effect Brightness and Contrast!

It isn’t just flrig but also fldigi that you have helped me with, and ?that has allowed me to get back the use of one of my favorite applications, while also getting one step closer to throwing off my need for Windows.? To be honest, it was a podcast I listened to recently that gave the Apple universe much higher marks for security than the competitors.? Granted, that was in relation to storage and web browsing, especially when combined with the Google suite, that has led me in this direction.?

?

Those of us who have made the change, or perhaps just started out here, appreciate your efforts to take their lawyers and developers actions as a challenge and continue to win the battle.

?

BTW, unless you have nothing else going on that requires your attention, don’t feel the need to jump right into this last issue.? On the other hand, if you see this as your next challenge, who am I to tell you otherwise.? ?

Can't say without some testing Gary.? First thing tomorrow morning.

Glad to hear that my suggestions for flrig worked for you.? Apple security lawyers/developers are making it more difficult to jump through the burning ring with each new OS release.

Regarding flrig on Ventura 14.4.1.? Tested using my Macbook Air with USB interface cable to FT-710.? The FT-710 and FTdx10 use similar USB port h/w.
  1. install the CP210 driver found at
  2. reboot the computer after successful installation
  3. plug in FT-xxx cable if not already attached
  4. execute flrig and before attempting to configure for the Yaesu transceiver
    1. open System Settings application
    2. go to Privacy & Security / Blue tooth
    3. allow flrig to use Bluetooth.? do not know why this worked but it did
  5. check the transceiver USB serial baud rate,?? I use 115200 for my FT-710.
  6. open the flrig Configuration dialog? to Xcvr
    1. select the transceiver
    2. select the /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART device.? The /dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART was not accessible.? On Ventura the "tty" devices are opend in lock mode and it appears that either another application (or the flrig serial port discovery code) did not completely close that access port.
    3. set the baud to be the same as the Xcvr
    4. set 1 stop bit
    5. set RTS/CTS
    6. set Poll Intvl to 100
    7. press the Init button
  7. shut down flrig and restart ... SUCCESS
  8. enable "Rig auto On" and "Rig auto OFF" on the drop down extras tabs, Misc.
  9. shut down flrig.? transceiver should turn OFF.
  10. start flrig.? transceiver will be discovered and turned ON

I just sent another way to start fldigi, and it also required the "YES" response.? On subsequent starts using the same technique, the YES prompt appeared and after a second or two fldigi started normal execution.? For this to work and not have the microphone nag, you need to enable Terminal access to the microphone.? Do this on System Settings / Privacy & Security / Microphone.

On Flrig, once I set the Rig, Update, and Baud fields correctly then click Init I get a never-ending beachball and have to force quit.

On FLDigi I still can't get past the "would like to access the microphone" pop-up, no matter how many times I click Allow.

JS8Call is working like a dream and if I move the cables to a Windows laptop FLDigi works great there.

Any thoughts?? Please forgive me if the solution has been posted and I missed it.

Good day David.

Great! Thank you. UDP sending works correctly both to Localhost and to an external IP address.
But there are some things that "we forgot." Namely two ADIF tags: <STATION_CALLSIGN: > & <MY_GRIDSQUARE: >.
Under the "Test" button you need some text, for example, in ADIF format: <FLDIGI_TEST:XX>Test UDP broadcast on XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX : XXXXX <STATION_CALLSIGN:yy>YYYYYY <EOR>.
