Re: Renaming audio ports effectively
I had a go at this this afternoon, but unfortunately some time in the distant past I had managed to use pavucontrol to rename the ports. But, you have to have the pulseaudio device manager loaded to

Re: Renaming audio ports effectively
Robert I wasn't blaming the standard. I was actually blaming ICOM for not providing a serial number in the USB Audio Codecs to allow me to differentiate between one rig and another. How would a

USB does exactly as it is supposed to do. But it is a poor substitute for a dedicated RS232/422 data port. Blame the PC makers for being cheap, not the standard. Robert KG4KGL

Re: Renaming audio ports effectively
Thanks Dave and Adrian. It does look like I can only identify them by their physical USB connection. So much for plug-n-play! I'll get to it this afternoon. Phil GM3ZZA

Re: Possible bug, or just info of interest. Fldigi multiple instances and RsID unkey via flrig
Hi David Same end action as just pressing (to disable) the top right screen button. This actually became evident when I was doing some flamp/flarq loopback testing using the transceiver RX monitor.

Re: Renaming audio ports effectively
Thanks David, I've had a scan through that document but it does seem to rely on the system being able to differentiate between the two codec devices. I'll look at it closer in the calm light of day.

Re: Renaming audio ports effectively
There are lots of ways to address this depending on what Linux sound system your application trying to use. At the lowest ALSA level, you can read up on ALSA sound device enumeration at

Renaming audio ports effectively
I have an IC-705 and an IC-7300 and they both use the same TI Audio Codec chip. This chip does not seem to have a serial number and ICOM do not provide the serial number of the rig for the audio

Possible bug, or just info of interest. Fldigi multiple instances and RsID unkey via flrig
I often run 2 fldigi instances communicating with 1 flrig. I found that if I TX a CQ macro on one, with TxID enabled, the RxID function on the inactive one issues a TX>RX transition immediately after

Another two thumbs up top Pipewire. I had to switch manually a while back (Suse does not force you to switch on existing installs) and it works great. New Suse installs are all Pipewire. Rick Kunath,

PipeWire
Hi All, My operating system is Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon and use the Wiki to do the builds. I've been hearing that the distributions are going to switch their sound system from Pulse Audio to PipeWire.
