Dave,
?
I cannot speak to noise handling capability of RADAE (yet) because I have little to no noise here (yes I know, I am very fortunate)
?
What little I have played with RADAE, It takes very little signal to noise ratio for it to produce readable audio.
?
It is a little "wider' than the other "700" modes.? and maybe a little wider than 1600.? Maybe similar to 2020/2020B
?
I have tried all the other modes from 160-6m and NVIS propagation affects most of the modes a little differently than sky-wave (F2/E) type propagation.
?
I found that RADAE works VERY well on 40m using NVIS during late afternoon between the PNW Seattle/Tacoma area to Eastern Wa (Spokane) etc.?? Signals that barely moved the s-meter from zero still produced literally "full-quieting" audio with little to no garbling.
?
In AUG 2023 I did a little test with an Oregon station I talk to frequently on 160 & 75m from here near Tacoma WA.
?
We were on or around 3750kHz using 700E.? I was running 1W with the IC705 and the other station was running 5W.?
?
It was around 8-9 PM and the summertime lightning/atmospheric noise and static was running S-9 or better.
?
We talked using FreeDV at the above power levels for about 30-45min in complete silence (except for the voice audio)
?
It would have been nearly impossible and very irritating to hold the same conversation using SSB with all that noise using the power levels we were running
?
