Re: Just a note to LDG users that have tuners that act funny.
开云体育Unfortunately, I am using the tuner remoted at the base of my flagpole vertical and tuning it with the tune function in my Icom 756 Pro III, so I cannot adjust the tune and memorize it.? As an example, some frequencies will only tune to 2.5 or 3 to 1.? I don’t think it is timing out because the tune light on my radio is not flashing as it does when a tune cannot be achieved.? If I tune at another frequency in the same band, I can usually find one that will tune to an acceptable VSWR.? If I then hold that tune and go back to the frequency that was high VSWR, it will be lower and may be as low as 1:1.? I can understand stopping at 1.7:1, but not 3:1 on a frequency that with a different tune can be as low as 1:1. ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Doug Person

Re: FDT710 work with LDG Z-100A

I do not have any diagram of the pin outs but. The LDG-Z100A comes with 7 different cables. Cable 109 goes to the FT10Dx and the 108 works on the FT710. Here is what I posted on the FT710 IO group. "Just got my LDG Z-100A and got it connected to FT 710 and it works. I use cable 108 and the end that plugs into the 710 the din plug goes into the tuner/Linear then the 3.5 mm plug into the rem port. In the radio menu under operation setting select General then Tun/inport select (Linear) then Tune Type select EXT. I hope this help someone." Wyatt WA4VMF |

Re: Just a note to LDG users that have tuners that act funny.
Check the manual for your particular tuner.? From the factory, I believe the setting is 1.7:1, but on most of them, you can set that threshold to be lower.? Meaning, it'll tune until it reaches 1.7 or lower, but it won't continue to find the lowest possible value.? That's when I manually adjust to see if I can get it lower, then store the value. Doug is correct.? I oftentimes refine the tune manually, as he mentions, and then I save that solution into memory so that it will go back to that setting the next time I am near that frequency.? Use Manual Memory Store:? ?Func -> Tune? ??

Assuming have the tuner in full auto tuning mode you, you should be able to just start transmitting and it will seek the learned memory channel automatically.

If you are running in semi auto mode you don't want to hold the button until the bars come together as that is indicating you want it to do a full tune. Instead release the tune button in about 1-2 seconds and it should immediately find the match from memory. PS check your manual for "Manual Memory Tune". Leonard K. Re: RU-49:1 Any plans to bring it back ?
There are so many options to acquire a 49:1 UNUN, build your own from parts or buy one from an on-line retailer, I got a very nice one from a chap in France via eBay, well built too (1KW), I just had to go to the building supply store for a plastic box, it now sits at the base of my 43ft vertical. Aliexpress has them too. John VE7KKQ On Fri, Dec 30, 2022 at 11:19 AM VA3SYS <i0x915@...> wrote: Thank you for your detailed write up Doug, i very much appreciate it. |

i was specifically referring to the LDG RU-49:1? being out of stock and “unavailable” from all of the North american shops that i know of. i have managed to grab a handful of them before they completely went out of stock and was simply wondering why LDG is not producing them anymore. |

开云体育I think the EFHW using? 49:1 transform remains a viable option
with performance similar to a center-fed half wave with the
additional advantage of working on several bands. ARRL sells a
simple 4 band EFHW that covers 40, 20, 15, and 10. An alternative,
which is something I use, is to fed a random, non-resonant long
wire with a 9:1 transformer. I have a 73 foot long wire up about
25 to 30 feet in an inverted "L" configuration. The transformer is
close to the ground and has 5 rather random length radials that
are between 15 and 20 feet in length lying on the ground. The
original design suggested only one was necessary. I just used some
scrapes of left-over antenna wire figuring more than one might be
better. I use this end-fed long wire for my remote station
consisting of an Icom IC-7300 with an outboard LDG tuner. When I
first set it up I was absolutely stunned by how well it worked. I
admit I don't truly know why this setup shows a reasonable SWR on
40 through 10 meters and actually tune on 75 with the LDG tuner
pretty much maxed out. I have checked into nets on 75 and gotten
decent signal reports with just 100 watts. This antenna is
documented at I use the high-power balun for
permanent installation and a light-weight one from LDG.
(Unfortunately, their website is a bit of a mess so I can't
provide a link) for POTA and SOTA.? The 9:1 as well as the 49:1
LDG baluns are available from Ham Radio Outlet, DX Engineering,? R
and L and others. Both the 49:1 EFHW and the 9:1 EFLW are excellent options due to
their simplicity. Other interesting wire antennas are the OCF or
Off-center fed antenna. I don't see any indication that they are
disappearing.? seems to still
be selling them. I bought an MFJ version as gift for a friend of
mine. Since they are no longer "NEW" perhaps sales have dropped
off a bit. But there are still plenty out there. On 12/30/2022 11:12 AM, VA3SYS wrote:

LDG tuners tune to 1.5:1 and stop.? If one is getting 3:1 it would indicate the tuner tried to tune, could not get it and timed out.? The LDG tuners do have time limit for tuning, gives up.? Most tuners do the same. Rig internal tuners typically are limited to start tune SWR of 3:1 will first check is above 3:1 and if so abort tuning, dont try for normally cannot tune this load.? LDG tuners can tune 10:1.

Using the AT-200Pro (II) with the Yaesu FTdx-5000
There is sold a cable (LDG-IC-2000)? ?to interface several of the LDG tuners to the Yaesu FT-2000. Some buzz existed that this cable could also be used with the Yaesu FTdx-5000.
And, from this "official" source across the pond, it is advertised as being capable of doing so: But, in reply to an email to the LDG tech guru, he said they were not aware of if or how well this will work. Does anyone have any real world experience with interfacing an?AT-200ProII (for instance) to an FTdx-5000? Your input is appreciated. Thanks. 73, Curt W4CP -- William C. "Curt" Phillips CEM CMVP?
