Re: Table legs

Hi

When we had our 420, we lost one (no idea how). I ended up going to a metal machinist who matched the other one. It was quick and less the Aus $140.

We also discovered that a little lanolin on the legs in the floor made them always easy to remove.

You can contact Multi-Tech Marine, part of the Catamaran Co. ?They will order parts direct from Lagoon in France. ?But, you then pay shipping from France which is expensive. ?They can generally get just about anything you need.

Our Lagoon 420 cockpit and salon tables use non-adjustable metal tubes as table legs. These are tapered at each of the ends. I need a new pair at table height, and I have not been able to find these when searching the internet. Nor can I find them on the Beneteau website. Anyone have any ideas where to source these. The only things i have found that are similar have too small of a diameter. Needs to be 2.25 to 2.5 inches. Thanks

Re: Lagoon 410 Repower (Engine removal)

We had a 1999 L410, and had the SB engine removed for rebuild. That was a Yanmar 3GM30.
We had no problem lifting it out once the deck panel (and some support structure for the liners) was removed.?

But maybe the S2 has a different bed setup and a different support structure. Please find attached a shot of the bed with engine removed. If yours looks the same it should work.

Lagoon 410 Repower (Engine removal)

Hi Lagoon owners,

Does anyone have experience removing an engine on a L410? I specifically am interested in if the engine will clear the middle wooden longitudinal bed support (on the SB side it is towards the middle of the boat). My mechanic thinks it needs to be removed, but that looks like a royal pain and it looks to me like the engine will lift up as is.

I have removed the deck lid above the engine, that was a bit of a pain too, but doable.

Any other wise words on this endeavor?

Best Regards Jess.

Re: Used Yanmar 3JH3E for sale

Hi goodind200,

I noticed you mentioned that the engine was on your L410. I am going to remove one of my L410 engines
and was wondering if you have any advice on the matter.
I have removed the "lid" in the deck above the engine. My mechanic wants me to remove the wood bed support that runs from fore to aft next to the engine, not the ones on the side, but the one about 1/3 of the way in towards the engine. It looks like to me that then engine will lift out without removing that wood piece.?

Can you confirm that?

Do you still have the boat? How do you like it?

Best regards Jess

Hi Group,

I am replacing sails on a L440 - 2006. The sail maker is suggesting using lash bobbins (sometimes referred to as low friction rings) for all three reefs in lieu of former set up of blocks for 1st and 2nd and sloop for 3rd to reduce chafe and achieve a more consistant sail shape.

Has anyone had experience with using these on a cat?

Thanks all.

Re: Replacement propane pigtail (hose)

It took us a while to figure out, but the boat side of your orange hose may be a G1/4 left-hand threaded fitting.?

We picked up an adapter to connect to standard US hoses:

Re: [LagoonOwners] One rudder

Interesting, Jeff. This is exactly what one might expect. and it is nice to have the confirmation. With the port rudder functioning was it easier to turn to port than starboard?

Re: Bahamas entry fees

All I ask for is better local info and to make it easier for you me and everyone else to enjoy sailing.
I am passionate? - maybe it's the wind gusts in this anchorage but promise to chill when the Bahamian authorities improve their chart accuracy - which according to the IHO are at less than 5% - so you me and everyone else have a 95% chance of running aground in their waters using their info.

BUT here are some good news though - proof that some countries are "getting it"

"NEW NEWS COME TO PANAMA !!
Good afternoon Sailors,
It is a pleasure to announce that finally, with the support of our Panama Maritime Chamber and associates, of which I am a proud member.
The Mariners visa process for sailors has been suspended.
(the mariners visa has been eliminated along with its fees of $105 per person)
Panama President has signed the amendment and now is published and in effect as of today.
Finally, the sailing community is consider as what they are, a friendly visitor.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

If this is a project you want to be once-and-done with, try looking for aircraft grade springs instead of your standard hardware junk ;-)

Related: we had an employee crash his plane - while taxiing - because someone had replaced a rudder return spring with a hardware store variety. Spring failed, pedal would not lift, and he just kept turning right into a closed hanger. Propellor chewed thru doors and he stopped moving when the wings hit the doors¡ which was REALLY fortunate as the hangar held a collection of restored Corvettes

so that¡¯s when I learned that true ¡°aircraft grade¡± truly means a MUCH higher quality.

Still way too much for a spring, but I couldn't figure out how to open the latch assembly to get the spring out to fix it. I imagine if you could, you could get a replacement spring at any old-timey hardware store. Maybe a?good locksmith shop could just replace the springs...

Re: [LagoonOwners] Re: Spring in Lagoon 380(#411) Guest Head Door Handle Broke

I used a pair of slip joint pliers, see attachment. The case is machine crimped to stay together. a little finagling and the pliers gave me the leverage to pop the case open. After replacing the spring, squeezing the box back to together and squeezing the old crimps worked well. Yes I got a free sample spring for a perfect replacement. 50 springs for less than $10.

Re: Spring in Lagoon 380(#411) Guest Head Door Handle Broke

Brett,

I have had about half fail on my 2006 - 440. As a temporary fix you can disassemble lock and take the old spring, they normally break right at the end, using a pair of long nose pliers, pull the broken end out and form another hook to the end of the spring that has broken. Reinstate. Fiddly but can work.?

I've replaced the spring. The only replacement for a broken spring is another exactly the same size spring.

Cheap Short term solution,
Take the handle apart, it may be possible to replace the spring with some strong chock cord (eg 10mm dia), easily adjustable, but cord will probably need to be replaced in a few months to years.
Obviously also depends on particular handle design but this stopped my door unlatching and flapping around while at sea.
