Hi all, Should be ordering a la1k in the next few weeks... i all ready have a dedicated 110V 20 amp circuit run up to where the amplifier will be that i have been running my AL-811....will that handle the amp ok without stress or damage? or should i run a 220 source? Looking to buy this pair after seeing many favorable reviews. Some questions: 1. What color is the case on current production units? Some photos seem to show black, while others seem to show dark gray. I want to be sure to get both units in the same color (gray if available). 2. Some have suggested the touch screen on the LA-1K should also be used on the HF Auto. Any known work in this direction? Rick K8EZB

Hello: New owner of the LA 1-K. Could not pass up a great amp. Never had such a tech proficient amp, so may need some kind words of advise, Not very computer savvy and I need to start downloading firmware. Previous owner did not update. My firmware is 1.01. Went to website, but could not find "LA-1K Firmware x.x". Any and all advise, tips etc sincerely appreciated. Best 73 to all. Joe W8JXM

Does anyone here know what cable is needed to connect the LA-1K to the Yaesu 991A?

Love the amp…use it all the time on SSB but was wondering if I use it on FlDigi etc. what do I need to know ? Thanks W4OZ Dennis

My LA-1K is connected to an HF-AUTO tuner and an ICOM 7610. I have the data cable connected from the 7610 to the amplifier. When the amplifier is in "Direct Mode" (using the data cable for PTT and band switching) and transmitting CW (Semi BKIN) it will go into "Overdrive" and stop after maybe 15 seconds. This doesn't happen with SSB. It doesn't matter how low the power I drive the amp with is. It resets quickly and will then do the same thing again after a few seconds of transmitting. When the amp is in "Normal Mode" even with the data cable still connected this does not happen at all. This behavior occurs as above with or without the RCA PTT connection being used. *This is the LA-1K display when the above occurs ( https://www.dropbox.com/s/njreycpxgjwm47i/IMG_0578.jpeg?dl=0 )* I have been going back and forth with Mark at Palstar and so far he hasn't figured this one out. I'm wondering if it might be some strange thing going on with my setup or if anyone else here has experienced this. Just got new LA-1K, boot screen is showing version 1.04A What is this all about? Cannot find any info on Palstar site. Anyone have this firmware version or info? 73, W3KIT

Any advise for using the LA-1K on AM ? thinking about giving it a try, I've never used AM mode. The manual says 275 watts max for AM, is this what you set the carrier to ? Thanks.

Getting ready to do some upgrades in the shack and looking for a solid state amp (and tuner) in the 1000 watt class. The two most interesting so far are the LA-1k (with HF Auto tuner) and Acom 1200S (with 04AT tuner). In reviewing the available literature/manuals/reviews, both seem to have some strengths and weakness and roughly equivalent reliability (generally "good" but not "excellent"). I especially like the user interface and tuner integration of the 1200S. Any informed insights re LA-1K vs 1200S? Thanks, RB K8EZB

How do you take advantage of the pure signal output of an Anan with the LA-1K via the pure signal jack on the amp?

After my Amplifier SWR increases anytime (just a few tenths)the SWR will not decrease by itself . Cycling the amplifier on and off resets SWR back to 1.2 or less and it stays put but never decreases . My question is why does the sampling always stay at the high and not ever go down. The HF-Tuner does vary up and down a bit. I’m feeling no love with this SWR meter.

I got the la-1k and hf-auto this weekend. I also have the ICOM AT-130 (100W) mounted outside. Is it possible to specify the LA-1K to never amplify the signal on one of the antenna port so I can safely connect the AT-130 to it? It would be nice if it could, that way I wouldn't need a separate antenna switch. I guess there is another question I probably should ask. Could I just run an coax from the HF-AUTO tuner to the wire into the tree and connect the center conductor to it and the shield to ground and thus skipping the AT-130 all together? I just unpacked a new LA-1K. Plugged it in, turned it on, and am shocked at the loud twin whirring noise made by the internal fans. Wish I had known before making the purchase. An Acom 600S I own is literally whisper quiet. Even a Quadra VL-1000 makes less noise than this amp. Are loud fans in the LA-1K normal? Jim AB4D

Have never noticed until just now my LA-1K does not make full power on 160 meters. Other bands seem to be fine. Testing into a dummy load the amp does: 40 input 720 watts 45 input 730 watts 50 input 750 watts 55 input 765 watts How many watts does it take to drive your LA-1K to 1KW on 160? Rich kd0zv
