Amp PTT TX key PTT dead?
Raul J Pla
I just set up my radio desk with an IC-7300, LA-1K and HF-Auto, both made in 2022.
After spending a while to se why the IC-7300 doesnt put the amp in TX mode, I shorted the RCA PTT connector on the amp. It still doesn't key into TX. I tried changing PTT modes and nothing changes. Any help is appreciated W4AWI |
Well...if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably?a duck.? Amp is defective. No charge for this assessment... On Thu, Aug 10, 2023 at 7:24?AM Raul J Pla <planet95x@...> wrote: I just set up my radio desk with an IC-7300, LA-1K and HF-Auto, both made in 2022. |

Yeah Ive had that duck phrase in mind before.... Palstar told me to open it up and look around for a loose connection (due to shipping shocks) I didnt?see any, moved a few things around, and it worked. Covered it up and used the IC-7300 PTT/SEND jack because my fancy 13pin plug pin was not keying. 73 W4AWI On Fri, Aug 11, 2023 at 7:26?AM Ken Lemke AC0DQ <kclemke@...> wrote:

Hi Raul, I an the owner of an LA-1K that had a similar issue you have experienced. As Ron WA2EIO just mentioned the RCA jacks are mounted (secured only via solder connections) to the circuit board. The RCA jacks are physically isolated from the rear panel. What happened on my LA-1K was the RCA cable connected to the LA-1K PTT was taut and when I went to replace the cable with a longer one, the RCA jack on the circuit board twisted and partially broke. This created an intermittent connection that took some time for me to debug. I took apart the LA-1K, and found the issue.? At first I had planned to replace the RCA jack. Once I saw the construction of the LA-1K, it was not worth the investment of my time to replace. Instead I fabricated a PTT cable using the DB-9 connector interface on the LA-1K, works great. I wish you the best with your LA-1K. 73 Dave N3IL On Fri, Aug 11, 2023 at 10:19?AM Ron - WA2EIO <wa2eio@...> wrote: Great that you got it working!?? Enjoy the amp. |
