Re: How long did you guys have to wait before you received your AMP?

When I ordered mine I ordered it from Radio World in Toronto on a Saturday.

So they would not have placed the order until the following Monday.

I called Palstar the following day and was told the amp would be shipped that day to Radio World.

Radio World has a warehouse in the states, amp was shipped there. Then once a week Radio World has items from the warehouse shipped to Toronto.

So it was a fast process in my case.

Re: LA-1K / HF-Auto For Sale?

I have both the LA-1K and HF-AUTO that will need a new home at some point - a move is in the not-too-distant future. Both have not seem very much use and the tuner is just back from Palstar who replaced an RF board as well as the usual firmware updates, etc. Drop me a note if you like, I am in New Jersey but have the original shipping boxes.

LA-1K can deliver to Dayton

Greetings. My LA-1K is for sale, see attached photos.

I am asking $2500 USD for the amplifier. Clean no smoking environment. In discussion with
the Palstar Tech, the 10 dB input attenuator was changed to a 6dB attenuator allowing full output when driven by a SunSDR2 Pro, 15 to 20 watt output SDR transceiver.

The photo shows approx 1 KW output?on 20m at about 24 watts drive from my Elecraft K3s.? Appox?38 amps as recommended?limit.

I will be in Dayton for the Hamvention, no shipping!

Thanks for your consideration.

Yes, agree.? Use 10w from the Flex to get 200w from the Palstar.? Everything stays cool.

Hi Steve

?

I used mine this morning on 30 M to work 3D2CCC on 30 M FT8. Turned the drive from the sound card down so the amp would put out 250 watts (No 200 watt limit on 30 M in Canada)

Worked just fine and got a ATNO in the log.

I have not been able to copy 3D2CCC here at all until this morning on 30 meters. I tried with 100 watts, got my report but did not get the RR73. So amp went from STBY to OPR and then I got the RR73.

I also agree. By the way. I took a look at the group for the amp he keeps pushing here as an alternative to the LA-1K and it makes me even happier that I decided on the Palstar. Take a peek and you'll see the endless issues with that amp. Wow.

Just darn good equipment in my opinion.

Agreed, Barry! There are other product brochures that specify a range where there are segments wishing that range that are actually usable. Many brochures describing a CONTINUOUS range include that word in them.

Ok, Rick, VE3PP, I take that to mean - Yes - this is the online brochure you read, that resulted in you knowing "those bands were not covered."

Said LA-1K online brochure states "Frequency Range: 1.8 to 54 MHz" -- suggesting that the amplifier in question has a continuous frequency coverage from 1.8 MHz to 54 MHz -- it covers everything HF + 6M, even CB!

Sir, one can certainly interpret any given written material the way they see fit.

Re: NOT MANY POSTS

In the USA legally there isn't such thing as a transceiver made for amateur radio. Unlike FRS, CB, GRMS, and all other uses there is no equipment certification by the FCC. Instead its the responsibility of the licensed amateur radio operators to ensure their equipment and usage is in accordance to the FCC rules and regulations.?

The ability to use anything you want, within the rules and regulations of the FCC, is the whole point of having amateur radio.?

So why are we having this discussion guys? What's your complaint? If its because you have to think when operating your transceiver? Is it because you feel the FCC rules and regulations aren't enforced enough? Either way none of that has to do with Palstar and is way off topic here.

Rick, VE3PP,

My bad.? My guess is, you have read another online manual, as opposed to the one I mentioned in my 27-Apr-2024 post /g/la1k/message/1537, that fully support your take on the LA-1K capabilities.? But, please try to refrain from the use of the term Bravo Sierra in the course of technical-idea exchanges, sir!
