frowned upon as that make the downloads large. This goes back to the days when phone charges for dial-up were expensive and so on. However there is no reason to bung up email with attachments that not everyone will be interested in even with the improvements to speed and so on. To help overcome this, yahoo groups has a setting that most groups use, which is that any attachments are stripped off of the email and placed in a folder for the person sending the attachment. You can find this folder from the files menu under the attachments sub menu. Use the web interface to see this. It looks like that yahoo detected something as an attachment, as it's created a folder, but there is nothing in it. So either the attachment was dud or yahoo got confused (most likely) (The system has worked well enough in the past) Andy On Wed, 15 May 2019 16:50:12 -0400 "'Steven A. Falco' stevenfalco@... For 5.1.2 version with previous versions is the same, it may change the menu where the settings are placed. View-> Grid settings -> Fast switching With Alt+1 and Alt+2 grid switching is performed. Regards, Pedro. El 15/5/19 a las 18:29, 'Steven A. Falco' stevenfalco@... [kicad-users] escribi¨®:

Introduction and a few questions
Hi all - I'm one of the maintainers for KiCad on Fedora Linux. I've used KiCad very successfully on a few board designs. I previously used Eagle, but once they went to a leasing model I gave them up and never looked back. :-)
My first question: Can I assign a hot-key to the grid spacing? I'd like to be able to rapidly switch between 50 mil and 5 mil spacing in the library editor. I don't see an option in the preferences for the grid. Second question: Is there any way to get the Symbol Editor to re-read a library? I'm creating some parts using an external C program, but I have to keep closing and re-opening the Symbol Editor to get it to pick up modifications to the new parts. If I could hit a key and reload the .lib file, that would be much more efficient. Steve |
Can not see any 3D model in compiled from source kicad 5.1.0
Hi all,
Compiled kicad from source according to Works great. Get no errors. But if I run my newly compiled kicad and open the footprint editor, select a footprint -> footprint Properties -> 3D Settings -> Select 3D Model Now if I click on any *.wrl or *.step file my preview window is black, nothing shows. Am I missing a library? Or how can I find what is wrong/missing? Thanks. Sounds like the graphics memory has got confused.
Have you tried a redraw? View -> redraw (or F3) Switching the canvas may also clear this. Andy On 10 Apr 2019 19:30:47 +0000 "ve3poa@... pcb-new version string
All,
I keep my design under version control, and I often see such diffs: kicad-users@... -(kicad_pcb (version 20171130) (host pcbnew 5.0.2) +(kicad_pcb (version 20171130) (host pcbnew "(5.0.2)") I usually get this diff when I open a layout on my laptop which was previously saved on my PC. They have the same OS, and same version of KiCad. Do you know the reason why the two line differs? Thanks, Levente -- Levente Kovacs Senior Electronic Engineer W: |
Re: remove track doesn't work!???
Hi, this is not grid related. I have found a few changes in useage to the older KiCAD version which I consider inconvenient and a step backwards. - I could finally remove the stubs in normal mode (normal arrow mouse pointer, not wiring mode). This used to work in wiring mode. Normally, you want to remove a track in wiring mode after seeing that it is not optimally positioned. Now you have to leave wiring mode to remove it. - I seem to have much less control on where tracks bend. I like to place tracks as straight as possible, but the track editor tends to produce wiggles when the points to be connected are not exactly on grid poitns. Best regards, Tom |

Hi, Have you checked if the working grid is fine enough ? Kind regards. Danilo |
remove track doesn't work!???
Hi, I have recently migrated from a 2009 version of KiCAD to KiCAD5. I have converted the layout to the new KiCAD5 standard and now I need to edit the old layout with pcbnew. Basically, this works, but I have encountered a severe problem I am unable to solve. I have moved a component previously routed in the old KiCAD version. Next I have tried to delete the old tracks by selecting the routing mode, holding the mouse pointer over the track to be removed and pressing backspace. This does work with long tracks. But there are also some short stubs which I am unable to remove. Moreover, every time I press backspace to remove a track, KiCAD5 unselects the route track mode, so after every track I must reselect that mode. This is very inconvenient and it was not so in the old KiCAD version. Am I doing something wrong? Best regards, Tom |
