Locked Build Fail, claims no route for cars #operationspro

I have attached the build report (I hope). The issue with the CMNT hoppers is fixed, I had put the wrong length in for the cars when I added them.
The other hoppers: CSXT 247307, 247655, 255614 can be either loaded with Dry Chem (for the paper mill) or Fertilizer (for the transload) or even shipped as MTY to be loaded at the trans load.
I know that in real life the cars would not swap load types like this but hey I only have so many cars.
Can you tell me why it will not move a car from Afton (staging) to Lyndhurst Yard and then onto the transload via the Wolfpen turn?
Thaks in advance for any help and insights.
Joe?

Joe,
?
It appears you have been conversing with someone (Dan?) via private means versus the group post, so I think you maybe sent this post errantly.? But since you posted here, and gave me a little bit (the build report) to go on, I will chime in... ;-)
?
From the build report...
Car (CSXT 247307) departing staging (Afton), try routing car to (Lyndhurst Transload, LYN Trans-L 2C) using two or more trains Could not find a last hop C/I or yard track that can service car to destination (Lyndhurst Transload)

The program cannot find a suitable track for the last hop necessary to get the car delivered.? In other words, there is no CI or yard track which can hold the car for the Wolfpen Turn to deliver it to the Transload.
If you reset train NSVL 82 and bump up the Route detail level (to Very Detailed) under Build Report Options, then rebuild the train, the explanation of the various trains and tracks used, will be listed.
As another suggestion, while you are trying to get a certain behaviour figured out, I would turn off the option under Staging Options that allows the program to "try Normal mode if build fails from Staging."? This will prevent the program from using a "work around" to get the cars to leave staging, and will force you to have to diagnose the issues (like the one your having) that may be present in your setup.
?
If I were to guess right now (without seeing a higher detail level build report), I would imagine you have track (in Lyndhurst Yard) from which the Wolfpen Turn isn't allowed to "pick up" and so it cannot move a car on to the Transload.
?
Happy to help, hope it helps,

Hi Pete,
I have not been conversing with anyone about this. I just posted this thread.
NSVL 82 aka the wolfpen turn picks its cars up from the Yard (Lyndhurst) and the goes out . This run has been working fine until a few days ago.?
I will try your suggestion tomorrow and let you know what happens.
Joe

This has happened to me a few times, as recently as a couple of days ago.? In my case inevitably it is because I have made some change to the properties of the classification track and it no longer accepts this type of car for various reasons.? Fixing the classification track properties resolves the issue.??

Joe,
?
The build report you attached above shows this train (NSVL 82) originates in Afton, runs to Lyndhurst then returns to Afton.? In your original post, you asked...
Can you tell me why it will not move a car from Afton (staging) to Lyndhurst Yard and then onto the transload via the Wolfpen turn?
So what exactly are you wanting to have happen?? The Wolfpen Turn does not visit the location of Lyndhurst Transload...
?
It would appear that a car from Afton (in order to get to the Transload) would have to be moved on the NSVL 82 to Lyndhurst.? From there it also appears that another train would have to move the car to get it to the Transload track.? This is similar to the SOU 91801 (HopCmnt) which is also at Afton, and has to be routed via an additional train in order to get to its destination.
Generate load for (SOU 91801) type (HopCmnt) empty (E) at (Afton, Afton-4) destination ()?
? ? Try spur (Wolfpen, Roanoke Cement-C) custom load (MTY)
? ? Train (NSVL 82) can't transport car (SOU 91801) out of staging (Afton) directly to (Wolfpen, Roanoke Cement-C)?
? ? Car (SOU 91801) departing staging (Afton), try routing car to (Wolfpen, Roanoke Cement-C) using two or more trains?
? ? Route for car (SOU 91801): (Afton, Afton-4)-> (Lyndhurst, Yard)-> (Wolfpen, Roanoke Cement-C)?
? ?Car (SOU 91801) custom load (MTY) final destination (Wolfpen, Roanoke Cement-C)?
? ? Car (SOU 91801) load (MTY) has assigned destination (Lyndhurst, Yard)?
? Car (SOU 91801) assigned to train, destination (Lyndhurst, Yard)
Is this case, the HopCmnt is sent to Lyndhurst on train NSVL 82, then will be set out for movement on another train (one serving the location of Wolfpen), before it will reach the Roanoke Cement-C spur.
In the calculation of how the car can be routed from Afton to Wolfpen, the program must have found a C/I track in Lyndhurst that can receive the car from train NSVL 82, and from which, another train can "pick up" the car and take it to Wolfpen.
The next car checked in the build report was the VC 9017 (Boxcar) and this car has to be handled by three trains in order for it to get delivered to Dunn Papermill and track Dunn T3-B.
Couldn't route car (VC 9017) using two trains, routing using multiple trains begins?
? ? Routing using 3 trains destination (Dunn Papermill, Dunn T3-B) begins?
? ? Route for car (VC 9017): (Afton, Afton-4)-> (Lyndhurst, Yard)-> (Schuyler, Schuyler Interchange)-> (Dunn Papermill, Dunn T3-B)?
? ?Car (VC 9017) custom load (Paper RecyK) final destination (Dunn Papermill, Dunn T3-B)?
? ? Car (VC 9017) load (Paper RecyK) has assigned destination (Lyndhurst, Yard)?
? Car (VC 9017) assigned to train, destination (Lyndhurst, Yard)
In both cases of the cars that are successfully loaded in Afton by the program, the program finds a track in Lyndhurst (the track is called "Yard") that allows the NSVL 82 to "set out" and other trains to "pick up" to then further deliver the cars to their destinations.
Yet, when the program tried to load CSXT 247307 (Hopper) with Fertilizer, it did find a Spur, it just could not find a working Route...
Try spur (Lyndhurst Transload, LYN Trans-L 2C).
Car (CSXT 247307) departing staging (Afton), try routing car to?
? ? (Lyndhurst Transload, LYN Trans-L 2C) using two or more trains?
? ? Could not find a last hop C/I or yard track that can service car to destination (Lyndhurst Transload)
So, I suspect that the problem might lie in the track named "Yard" in Lyndhurst.? Since the build report shows other cars successfully routed through this track (meaning the NSVL 82 is allowed to set out), I would check to see if the track allows "pick ups" by the train that then serves the location of Lyndhurst Transload.? Or if perhaps the track services specific "destinations" (and currently this does not include Lyndhurst Transload).
?
The detail of which tracks in Lyndhurst are set up for what exactly, is why I suggested you reset the Route detail level (to Very Detailed) for this train and rebuild it, ...to show us the build report with more specifics.
?
Happy to help, hope it helps,

Pete,?
Thanks for the reply. I will have to wait for another build fail as I have built a new train.
In the mean time let me explain Mr RR a bit.
Afton is staging only. It is actually 5 drawers off layout. ?This train (NSVL 82) will be set on a siding until it is time to show up in Lyndhurst. Here the trains drops its ?inbound cars on the main, then goes to a yard track picks up the outbound cars and goes back to Afton.
Lyndhurst is a Yard only. It is actually 3 tracks but for simplicity I have it as one in JMRI. When NSVL82 ?goes back to Afton the yard crew will sort the cars for the next trains.
The Wolfpen turn (NSVL 107) is routed from Lyndhurst Yard ?to the Lyndhurst transload and then to Wolfpen and then return to the yard.
The Schuyler turn(NSVL 105) is routed from Lyndhurst Yard ?to Schuyler power then onto Schuyler (this in a C/I track). Then returns to the yard.
The Schuyler switcher (NSVL 202) works the paper mill and then drops/ pickups cars from the Schuyler interchange track.
The only cars having routing issues are my hoppers. As seen they are not making the trip to Lyndhurst ?Transload.
The program did try to send the car to Dunn Papermill, but there would be too many hoppers there.
The program is supposed to wait one turn then switch out the Hopper at the paper mill, but lately is. To doing that either.
Next time I build a train with the hoppers I will post the build report ( if fails).
I have made the changes you recommended by the way.
?
So basically My RR is a rural Appalachian operation. Cars come in from Afton (the rest of the world) run down the valley to ?Schuyler (the end of the line) where Dunn Papermill is (my biggest customer). Sometimes I will combine the wolfpen and Schuyler turn into one train (even though I still have JMRI build them as separate trains). sometimes I just run them one at time as the mood strikes.
Again thanks for your time and be looking out for the next build report…should I just post it here or start a new post??
Joe

Hello ALL!
So I was able to find and correct problem of previous build fail.
now onto another build fail issue. I will start a new topic. “Build fails…not using off spots or holding cars”
Thanks

So Joe,
?
For the benefit of those who read the posts here in order to learn more about how the program can be used, will you please share what you found to be the problem?
I'm guessing you discovered the solution from an expanded detail-level build report...?
?
Feel free to be brief in you solution's description if you prefer.

Pete,
Yes the detailed build report did help.
First issue: I had entered the wrong car length for my Cement hoppers (too long) for their assigned car spots.
Second issue: While making some changes I accidentally unselected a car type to be used at a Trans load location, so the cars of course had no where to go to from staging.
These two issues where causing build fails and as you noted the problems where not seen on the less detailed Build reports, however the very detailed reports brought the problems to light plus one other that I posted in another ?thread, so the lesson for me is to be patient and actually read the build reports once in a while (especially with a fail) in the very detailed setting.
