Hi Perry,
?
I use remote desktop software from my Win 11 laptop to access (via WiFi or Ethernet) JMRI running on an older computer that is compatible with my DCC hardware.
?
Perhaps that would provide enough security* for your needs?.

Re: Why are so many sections allocated?
Steve G,
?
[I hope the basement didn't flood.]
I changed all the intermediate sections to false and in initial testing it works much better for me and like I'd expect.
However, in further testing I still have a similar issue.
Above are three separate (intermediate=false) sections ending at a ghost block turnout. How can I get dispatcher to only allocate up to the crossing as the first block/section is?
When I dispatcher train (allocate sections=2) it allocates 4 sections to the second turnout (HELD mast) in the transit.
?
This allocation is a significant amount of track. How can I allocate just up to the level crossing mast and make this train wait at the crossing until clear?
?
Changing virtualsignalmast[intermediateSignal=false] there was no obvious effect.
Changing virtualsignalmast[forwardMast=crossingmast] (was the turnout mast) there was no obvious effect.

Thank you for your time and consideration. //stevemac

Both are "Digitrax-specific" problems. One problem Digitrax users of JMRI have is turnout control problems. This is a generic problem, made somewhat more difficult by changes in the most-recent Digitrax command station designs. It has been discussed ,, in great detail, and with several different "solutions" depending on your railroad's needs, at: . The second problem is that the DSXPC1 LEDs can get "out of sync" with the controlled switch, _when any other mechanism_ is used to control the switch. The DSXCP1 _does not_ get any information on the switch's actual position. If you fiddle with a switch with a "throttle" or a software package, the DSXCP1 LED can become "wrong". This is a "feature" of the DS74/DS78V hardware. Discussion of this problem should not be taken up with the JMRI list. Instead, the problem should be taken up with Digitrax, who would have to re-design the DS74/DS78V/DSXCP1 ! |
Re: Decoders for non-standard signaling systems?

You should be able to build that non-standard stuff in the JMRI signal system.
I added modifications to AAR1946 to include semaphores.
Either you could modify a system that's close to your foreign system or build new from scratch.

Re: Passenger Car Blocking Order
#operationspro
Dan,
?
I understand that, but these trains perform station switching in the middle of their route.? They are picking up sleepers left from other trains, diners that have been serviced and express reefers.? They need to be placed in the correct blocking order on the train and there is no information about the cars that arrived and where the added cars would be inserted.
?
Could the blocking order be another optional field that can be printed like they type, length, etc that we already can choose?

Does anyone know if there are decoders on the market that can be programmed by the user to show non-standard aspects?

I am about to build a non-american model railway where there are ready-made decoders for most but not all signals, and I would like to use off the shelf products wehenever possible.

Re: Using the same car(s) in two trains in the same Op session
#operationspro
John, for the SwitchList, at the Club, I always reset my Switchlists at the beginning of a session, then each build will add to it.? Only after all trains are built do I printout the Switchlist. So, each Yard has just one SwitchList and all the trains through the Yard are listed with all the cars.
?
I use Automation in my building of trains, and with 28 trains to be run in an Ops Session, I separate them into four lines (actually 5, but the first is just to build and reset some trains to eliminate all Waits).? Arbitrarily named group A is the first group where I build 12 trains, update my SwitchLists (four Yards), then terminate seven of the trains that have been built.? In group B (second group), I build seven trains then update the SwitchLists, then terminate eight trains (some from group A, and some from group B).? My third step builds seven trains then updates the SwitchLists, then terminates? 11 (all unterminated trains from group A, group B, and group C).? The last step builds two and terminates them (of course, after updating the SwitchLists).? I do this to carefully control when cars are available for the next train, which is as soon as the train that they are assigned to gets terminated.? So for example, if I want a train in group B to pick up a car from a group A train, I have to terminate the A train before building the B train.? However, if I do not want a B train to pick up a car assigned to an A train (usually because the A train wouldn't yet be at the Yard where B is being built), I build B before terminating A.
?
Incidentally, after an astute YardMaster showed me how he planned his Yard moves by looking through the SwitchList for any car that is on more than one train, I came up with a tool to use.? I designed an Excel spreadsheet that takes the SwitchList and sorts it by car number, time and train, then sorts it back to train order with notes ("Out on #45", and "From #89") to help the YardMaster be more responsive to cars that need to be sorted out of an incoming train to go out on another train.? I included three macros to do those steps. The screenshot below is from one Yard so the YardMaster can see that train 72 has four cars that will need to be shuffled immediately and the others can go to a storage area for next session

JMRI DecoderPro Version 5.10 NO support for QSI TItan Q3 Version 9 GE U50 Dual 16 FDL Sounds Product ID = 1144,

1.? In attempt to create a Decoder Pro Version 5.10 Roster Entry to configure and manage a QSI Titan Q3 Version 9 Decoder with the GE U50 Dual 16FDL Prime Mover Sounds - Product ID 1144 - I realized that it is not supported.?
?
The Roster command "Create New Loco" with selecting "Read Type From Decoder" is returning a list of decoder choices, none of which was the Dual FDL U50 Sound File (type/model/Product ID =1144).

While at it:
?
2.? The following is a list of QSI Q3 Version9 Sound File Product IDs that may fall in the same category of NOT being supported:
?
a. Athearn GE U50 Dual 16 FDL Sounds Product ID : 1144? (already mentioned above)
b. GE U50? Dual 16 FDL Sounds Product ID : 1133
d. GE U50C Dual 12 FDL Sounds Product ID : 1128
e. EMD DDA40X Dual 16 645 Sounds Product ID : 1140
f. ALCO C855 Dual 16 251 Sounds Product ID : 1135
?
as well as:
?
g. GE Modern 7FDL16 Sounds Product ID : 1142
h. EMD Modern Diesel 710 Sounds Product ID : 1157
?
3.? While the support for QSI FX-U F3 EMD567 Product ID : 1115? covers the DD35A and DD35B Dual EMD567 Prime Mover Sounds, the "Dual EMD567" is not Specifically included by name, and the choice might be missed.?
?
It would be nice to have support for the above mentioned Product IDs..

Re: How to efficiently manipulate signal mast aspects?
Thanks, BillyBob. I had no idea this capability existed. Although I looks like I won't need this for the problem I posted (Dave pointed out that I made it needlessly complicated), I definitely have a couple of other areas where repeating the signal for fascia controls will use this.

Passenger Car Blocking Order
#operationspro
I have several passenger trains that perform switching at a station along the route.? These passenger trains have a mix of coaches, sleepers, diners, baggage, express reefers and express box cars.? To help my crews assemble these cars in the correct order when adding and removing cars, I've added the blocking order to the care type.
?
I thought this would be available to print on manifests and switchlists so the crew would see them and get the cars in the correct order, but I don't see the option to add them to the manifest/switchlist.??
?
Is there a way to add this to the either?? I'm not sure what purpose this field serves if it's not printed so that crews can take action.
