Georgia, ? That sounds like an issue in the cab bus wiring. When you physically moved the AIU boards, you left them at the original addresses they had before? It might be worth rechecking the wires as if one of them isn’t in contact, that would account for it not being seen. ? It might also be helpful to document for us which throttle numbers, AIU numbers, and for the PowerCab, its cab number. Also the pattern of the cab bus, what connects to which and so on down the line. ? When you switch from the PowerCab to the PH5, do you change the cab id of the AIU or leave them the same? ? At least when you could see the AIU in the ‘Show Cabs’ did the sensors work for that AIU? ? -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team

just an update...? ?Ken from JMRI sent a firmware update the for NCE Power Pro.? I installed that and form some reason I can see one AIU in the cabs but not both. I've gone thru all the correct addresses, and when I swap the AIUs physical position in the cab bus I can see the one I couldn't see before, but the first one tat was working i now gone..? between this and a week of teeth nashing.... I reinstalled my POWERCAB system and i'm using that for now, with everything operational as it should work.? I'm in the process of setting up a test bench for the PowerPro and a couple blocks ( BD20s, and two AIUs ) to try to simplify and figure out exactly what is happening.?

This is a great idea.? I would love to be able to control whether local moves are allowed for a location in a route.? Having this separate from pickups and setouts will work very well for me.??

Fair points. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for others.
My hope would be that, eventually, many responses to standard questions could be replaced with just a link to the applicable faq. One carefully worded and thought through standard response reached via such a link would be a lot better than the current free-for-all, where users, with the best intentions, can give half-correct or incomplete or actually wrong information. I know I've done all three, so I'm not starting a blame game!

No, sticky isn't "all very well for people using the group's web interface." That's exactly the problem - When you use the Web interface, the first page is stickies you have to scroll through to get to any actual message threads.

And I follow far too many fora for my various hobbies to even consider email delivery. Been there, done that, with the filters and folders and filing - What a mess! Maybe that worked back in the dial-up days if you followed a small number of fora, but for me at least it's not a viable solution.

However, I do agree with your FAQ suggestion. I suggested putting them in the forum's Wiki, bit the JMRI Web site might also work (Although, apparently, not many folks bother to read the release notes there. I'm not sure the FAQ's would do any better.)

Yes, first and third were PowerCab and middle was SB5. All same profile, just changed the preferences. ? I put the jumpers back on the board, set it to 19,200 and it appears to be happier now. ?

That log didn’t have the other run. The session.log gets reset every time you open JMRI. The messages.log is the last ### runs up a meg of file space.

I think what would be best is a post of the messages.log so I see the history and a snap of the connection profile showing all the settings.

There should be two sequences in there with the latter having it set for SB5 and resulting in the error.
I have three throttles on the bus, my original power cab (with procan cable), a second pro cab and a cab06 as well.
When I set to Pro Cab the system gives me the two green indicators on. Ottom.left and it does seem to read from a loco on the track.

Bill, ? This log looks normal. I don’t see it showing any issue with opening the port, getting the id from the NCE USB. But what did you have set in the connection window at this time? ? I’m presuming you have both a PowerCab and a SB5 from what you said. The recommended setup for that combination would be using two profiles. One for the PowerCab as the command station so you have a programming track. The second is with
the SB5 as the command station so you can move around with the PowerCab as a normal throttle. ? But to do that, I suggest you make a change to the NCE USB. I would use it with all jumpers in place. This is the ‘all systems’ setting. That in turn would mean both profiles are set for 19,200 baud. This way you don’t have to change the
jumpers between the two systems. ? But there is a table of the id’s used by the NCE USB and the code cross checks that value with the command station selection. The message you posted would say the selection you had in the connection settings didn’t match the id value returned

On Panel Editor it is straight forward. I used the SIM profile because I'm too lazy to pull my Power Pro out (I can if need be)
First make sure that you can see your AIU and that its Cab Address is correct. Show Cab will query your Power Cab
Mine is blank because I am in Simulation mode. You should see Cab ID 4 for your AIU

You stated that you were able to add the Sensor. I used the 4:6 method and giving the name of 4(aiu06).
This is for Panel Editor not Layout Editor it has a different process.
The System Name is generated by JMRI and it will appear in the Add Sensor Panel automatically.
I added 2 indicators and you can see that they both work.

Layout Editor can give the same symptom but that's because we don't make the Block association assignment.

You Right Click on the Track segment select Edit , Create the Block Name ( I used BLK1)
Then make the assignment.

Once you make the assignments it will display.

Looked at it and started to think about to do it, but I found that the SignalPilot has a lot of indexed CVs and, furthermore, there is no documentation about its CVs (all of them) :( , so, unfortunately, more than difficult to do it.

Should any one have any information about it, I am ready to help on it, as I already did defining .xml's for including new signals definitions for SignalPilot.

Looking deeper into the code, I see I need to know more things. I’ll recap:
- System console so I can see:
- Version of JMRI
- Version returned by the NCE USB
- The logged error message
- NCE command station firmware version id
- That’s either 1.28something or 1.65something.

But so far it is looking like you may not have the right jumper settings in the NCE USB and the version ID it is giving doesn’t match what it should be for the SB5 system. But depending on which jumper settings, the baud rate may also need
to change to match what it expects.
?
But with the details above, I can guide the right answers.

Hello All
After a year away im back into it,and starting to put layout into jrmi,thanks to all who devolop it.

I have added sensors before and had them working but this time not so good
Ihave all? NCE equipment,via usb all good there

I have added a basic Layout in Panel Editor ,added turnouts now onto sensors
I open sensor tab,give the sensor a name,in this case 4(aui01)and the input 6.
A green tick appears,but when i activate the sensor nothing shows
What step am i missing.I tried manually setting to active but didnt help.

Is it a case of not getting the right info to jrmi?
