Re: Roster Media - Images disappear in one profile - disappear but reappear when roster rebuilt in different profile #rosterimage

Thank you all. These suggestions make sense to me. Learning as I go, I am off to search and edit files.

Re: Control Panel Editor Icon Scaling #controlpaneleditor

Please go to
Azul probably has a version you can use.

Re: Control Panel Editor Icon Scaling #controlpaneleditor

I think Azul Java will work on Win7

Re: Control Panel Editor Icon Scaling #controlpaneleditor

Oracle's website says Windows 10 is required for Java17 but perhaps it will still work on Windows 7.

Looks like starting with 5.11 the program changes the logic/programming for applying fonts. Does that mean that once I go above 5.10, I¡¯ll have to live with this? Boo¡

I read somewhere that Java 17 will not work with Windows 7 but I guess its worth a try.

Re: Roster Media - Images disappear in one profile - disappear but reappear when roster rebuilt in different profile #rosterimage

To verify the path on each machine, look at the system console after starting DecoderPro. ?There will be an INFO message that has the path to the roster.xml file.

INFO? - Reading roster file with rootFromName(C:\Users\xxx\Dropbox\JMRI\SharedRoster\roster.xml) [main]

The path after "C:\Users\<username>\" has to be identical for both machines.

It's not where the file is that matters it is how the path to it is expressed so it can be accessed from multiple profiles across multiple O/S's and multiple PCs.
It is normally copied to the roster area and then pointed to by home:patheandfilename,?so everyone accessing the files must have the same directory structure off "home:', unfortunately there is no "roster:" URI. which means when resetting the location of the roster it doesn't update the URLs.

We normally fix problems like with "sed" in linux, but any text editor that does search and replace should work. Remember to do backup of the files. It has to be changed in the master record rather than the roster.xml file and then the roster.xml rebuilt (or edited), ultimately though you need to make the path to the roster from "home" the same in all instances.

Vinny,

Have you tried simply upgrading your existing Win 7 with the Azul Java 17? You may not need to upgrade the machine itself.

Locked Re: NCE Accessory Event Monitoring and possibly CS-105 #nce

Though I am not remotely an expert on NCE / JMRI there is a piece of NCE hardware that has not been discussed but might help substantially.
It is my understanding, and soon to be tried plan, a Minipanel would allow local control BUT also coordinate with the Command Station reducing the risk of out-of-sync turnouts. I fully understand it is still inferior to direct turnout monitoring.? It would need some programming for each used input but the Minipanel's 30 inputs has lots of potentially fun applications like yard throat alignments etc.

If you have an old Manifest that you want to print in color, simply press the "Save" button in the "Manifest Print Options" window and all of your old Manifests for built trains will get updated.? Older saved Manifest will print in black.

Re: Roster Media - Images disappear in one profile - disappear but reappear when roster rebuilt in different profile #rosterimage

Thanks. That makes sense; I see all the images in the dropbox roster directory.

For the roster.xml file on dropbox it has ¡°imageFilePath="" for each locomotive.

Do I change all those, individually, or is there a way to globally change the path?

Yves,

I recommend that you look at?. That will not answer all of your questions but it will provide a good overview.

For item 1, use the "Tools -> Translate (Move) Selection" menu item from the Layout Editor menu.

For item 2, use the "Label Text" tool bar item to put any kind of text on the panel.

For item 3, use the same block name for the first two blocks and the other block name for the last two.? Blocks are not associated with the turnouts in the crossover.? The crossover has one turnout.? The "supporting" turnout is used to simplify the switch machine wiring.? One layout I work with uses a single switch machine with a mechanical linkage to set two turnouts.? Another layout daisy chains two Tortoise switch machine.? Another approach is to use the same address for two accessory decoders.

Subject: [jmriusers] Layout Editor questions #layouteditor
Date: Thursday, January 09, 2025 8:50 PM

Hello All,
?
I am working on a simple layout on Panel Pro, using JMRI 5.10 on Linux 24.04. The idea is to learn panel pro features on a simple layout. Here are the questions:
?
  1. I drew the simple layout (2 crossovers and double main line, simple double loop). I would like to move the all diagram within the layout editor. I am able to select the complete layout, but I have not figured out how to move it as a whole.
  2. It is simple to add and associate blocks to track sections. Is there a way to add the name of the block on the diagram. The idea is that the block name should be visible on the layout diagram.
  3. A crossover has two turnouts that are activated simultaneously. My idea was that each turnout would be its own block, but the edit on crossover is looking for four blocks. I can see two blocks but not four. Also how is the association turnout to block done and how can I find out?
Many thanks in advance for your help
Regards
Yves

Looking at your Manifest, I now see how you got the locomotive to print in black.? You eliminated the prefixes for both engine pulls and drops.? Yes, that would have printed in black in the older versions.

Re: Locomotive colors #operationspro

Micheal,
?
As far back as I can remember, both the locomotives and cars where printed in color.? Not sure how you got the locomotives to print in black.? Here's the results using 4.26, the oldest version I currently have on my PC.
?

Locomotive colors #operationspro

Within one of the last handful of test releases of JMRI, my locomotives have turned color!
?
When I now preview or print a manifest, the listed locomotives had always been printed in black at both their Pick Up and Set Out location. However, now they are printed in the Pick Up and Set Out colors that are set within the program's settings. I also notice now that in the .txt files for manifests and switch lists that the Pick Up and Set Out colors are indicated in each Pick Up or Set Out line. Is this considered and update or feature to the program? If so, is there a way to toggle this locomotive color change back to black if preferred?
?
Example of an older version:
Scheduled work at Mandan, ND
<FONT color="magenta">Obtain Train Order from Dispatcher prior to Departure.</FONT>
?BN 1946 GP9 from Roundhouse 18? ? -? ? ?this line printed black on manifest
?BN 1947 GP9 from Roundhouse 18? ? ?-? ? this line printed black on manifest

?[ ] Pull GN 2530 Boxcar 41' MTY from 1 Track? ? -? ? this line printed red on manifest.
?
Example of a newer version:

I tried to call up an older manifest within JMRI and they now print in all-black. The Pick Up and Set Out colors are gone.

Re: Roster Media - Images disappear in one profile - disappear but reappear when roster rebuilt in different profile #rosterimage

If you look in the roster.xml file you will see the filenames being used
e.g. imageFilePath="home:JMRI-Files/JMRI-Roster/roster/CNR1026.jpg"
All our files have the same relative path from the users home directory.
