The install adds some libraries to your Java install directory. When you install _another_ Java, it creates new Java directories alongside the original ones (this is so you can "easily" drop back to the old one). But those new ones are missing the JMRI installer's files, so you have to run that installer again.

Anyway, the Loconet monitor works, as does the Power tool. However, the
Programmer does not --- complains it times out talking to the DB150.
I have one of the earlier Locobuffers, so maybe I need to upgrade the
firmware? John - do you know what version I have?
The DB150 (Empire Builder) can't read from the programming track. It just doesn't have the electronics to do it. And it doesn't provide a reliable way to know that when you ask it to read; it just refuses to reply.

So if you're having timeouts when you do a read (e.g. hit an ident or "read sheet" button), that's regrettably normal. If you select DB150 as your command station on the preferences pane, it will at least disable those buttons.

If you're having timeouts when attempting to write to the decoder (e.g. a "write sheet" button), then something else has gone wrong.

Hello Bob,

Sure! What do I need to do? I have a couple of DZ121's on
and installed in locomotives.

I don't have one of those, so can only work from the datasheet off
the web. But it looks possible. The DH120 looks somewhat similar,
though the DZ121 only seems to have paged mode.

Would you be willing to try one out if I put a file together?

The "Windows" button will make the buttons, labels, etc look like Windows widgets.

The choices you see there vary with the type of computer. On Linux, the "Motif" or "CDA" choice gives you something that looks native (depending on how your Linux box is set up). On the Macintosh, there are a couple of different varieties that let you match different Macintosh eras.

The "Metal" choice is the native Java look, which will sometimes fit more on the screen and may look more self-consistent. It's always available, and is the best bet if weird stuff is happening on the screen. Nobody thinks it's beautiful, though.

want to keep Windows-like, then chose that one.

Yes, that's the symptom for the broken install. Sorry. I'll get it
fixed, hopefully this evening.

Locked "Panel" feature broken in 1.0.1 test download

Unfortunately, the new control panel tool in the 1.0.1 installer doesn't work. I don't quite understand this yet. It works on a test machine, but if you download the installer onto a clean machine, the panel editor crashes on startup. The installer seems to not create a completely functioning program. The panel editor does need some new stuff, so that's where I'll look first, but it may take a while to figure out.

The rest of the program seems OK, so if you're only interested in the DecoderPro updates it should work fine for you.

I'll look at this as soon as a I can, but it probably won't be until this evening.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

It should be OK to just run the new installer. The "remove JMRI" option in the Start menu is there mostly for people who decide they're not interested in the program at all. It will reclaim some space for them.

Features:

*) Fixes to TCS decoder definition, thanks to Jon Miller. Fix minor

*) DecoderPro speed table now has editable numbers, thanks to Alex
Shepherd.
Speed table also has three new buttons for setting various curves.

*) New "speedometer" tool in JmriDemo program (development menu).
I'd
love to know if it works for LocoNet users...

*) Control panel tool, see

*) Fixes to serial port error checking and recovery; you'll now get
a
dialog box for certain easy errors.

*) Roster file handling improved; now remembers the last directory
you used (until program is restarted), starts in the user
preferences
directory.

Some of the error handling code is experimental, and feedback would
be greatly appreciated.

The installer can be downloaded from

or the usual SourceForge mirrors.

No problem Bob. Working with Robin the problem is fixed. It turned out
that the first two function lines said "forward" instead of "forward" then
"reverse". Once that was changed then the lights worked correctly.
I really wish I could help with the programming but the time I spent on
that little problem convinced me "I'm not a programmer"<VBG>.
Yeah, debugging this stuff can be really frustrating...

Let me check to make sure. These lines in each light definition:

<enumChoice choice="Function on when loco going forward"/>
<enumChoice choice="Function on when loco going forward"/>

should really be:

<enumChoice choice="Function on when loco going forward"/>
<enumChoice choice="Function on when loco going reverse"/>

Is that right?
