Is this true of Engine Driver? If so, Steve Todd¡¯s Raspberry Pi image is great for clubs where members bring their personal equipment!

Re: Roster media?
#rosterimage
I still think it has something to do with either a setting or the video drivers or something on that particular series of laptop. In my case when I couldn¡¯t transfer the image using the laptop I went to my desktop and was able to successfully transfer the very same image file without a problem. This would seem to indicate that the image wasn¡¯t the problem. I standardized the images (using PhotoShop) to a 300x500 .jpg after nothing else worked but still no joy. I blame the aliens.

double x-over possible 4.18 panel bug
The following issue appeared with installation of 4.18, was cleared by reverting back to 4.16:
Context: simple panel editor panel, turnouts have no feedback. There are 2 double crossovers, this problem only occurs with the second (higher TO#) instance. There is no issue with control of the individual turnouts that make up the double x-over when addressing them directly. Each double x-over on the panel uses both primary and secondary turnout assignments. Problem: When activating the problem item on the panel. only the secondary unit switches. Reversing the assignments (making the pri into the sec and vis-vers), activation remains the assigned secondary turnout. If use of secondary is turned off, the correct single unit is activated. There is no problem with the first instance on the double x-over. thanks, Chuck |

What's a good way to learn jython?
Following along, it seems at some point I'm going to need to write some of my own logic.
I learned Intel assembly language and QuickBASIC decades ago. But C and C++ stumped me. Is it realistic to think I can learn to program in Jython? My impression from bits in the messages here, is that it's "C like". I'm 75 years old, and it's harder for me to learn complex new things than it was... Also, I have a mailing about "The Great Courses", and one of them is a 24 lesson course in Python I could order for $35. Might that be useful? Or, is there some programming manual I should buy? I don't want to ask a million beginner's questions on the list. But, what's a good way to learn to program in Jython? Don Weigt Connecticut, USA |

Digitrax programming and Track Power On (was JMRI 4.18 is available for download)
David and Mick,
JMRI _intentionally_ changes track power status to "ON" at the end of a programming sequence when programming in "Service" mode. Further digging reveals that this code was specifically added in relation to a user's issue. Further investigation revealed a DB150-specific requirement to turn track power "ON" after programming operations for any programming mode other than "ops-mode". See the Github issue # 983, and Bob Jacobsen's comment dated March 5, 2016. ( ) Curiously, a comment in the code says "Internal routine to handle a programming timeout by turning power off.", but the code turns track power ON... There is no explanation why there is this discrepancy. So far as I know, JMRI does not currently do anything specific with the "command station" information configured for the connection. But this specific example is one place where it might be sensible to do so... JMRI could be sensitized to the "command station type" for the connection, and only do this when a DB150 is specified. Layout Editor Bridge Decoration line width problem
Hi
I've just tried to alter the Bridge Decoration line width using Layout Editor. This defaults to 1 and I wanted to increase it slightly to 3. However the dialog indicates that value must be between 10 and 200, and prevents any other change! I don't think the panel contents are important, but a panel I've uploaded before has a bridge that can be edited: /g/jmriusers/files/ProblemsBeingWorkedOn/Andy%20Brown%20-%20161045/WebTrackDecorations01.xml I successfully changed the xml to the value I wanted and it displayed as expected. I've tried this in 4.18 and a later JMRI.4.19.2ish+jenkins+20200109T0259Z+R7f4b88d, both exhibit the same issue. I'm running Ubunutu 19.10 with java 11.0.5 (en_GB) A minor issue, but I thought I'd report it anyway. Thanks Andy |
I¡¯ve also noticed that issue of track power being turned on while programming. ?I¡¯ve wondered if there could be a transparency issue between the windows with a click on the program window directly above the track power button causing it? |

Re: Panel Frustration...Individual panels don't open
Frank,
I opened it, Mountain Division Panel, Traffic center,Valley Division Bakersfield North End, Bakersfield South? A lot of stuff, it seems to be.? I opened it via Digitrax sim to avoid an equipment conflicts. You might want to try DIgitrax sim and troubleshoot backwards. You could have something hanging up a file. You have a lot going on. ? Mike, The "delay" option applies to signal mast logic. ?When an aspect needs to be changed based on SML rules, the delay defers the change. ? This applies to aspect changes, but unfortunately it does not apply to the release of the HELD state on a mast. I just tested a Logix based solution that works nicely. ?It is based on my approach to interlocking: ?All signals display Stop (Danger) except when a route is released and the aspect is based solely on signal mast logic which implements ABS. A locking sensor is added to each signal mast logic definition for the signal mast with a required state of Active. ?When this sensor is not Active, the SML rule will be Stop. The interlocking Logix controls the state of the locking sensor with the desired delay before setting the locking sensor Active. Dave Sand ----- Original message ----- From: Mike Musick <mike@...> Subject: [jmriusers] Delay Timer in a Logix Action - Signal Mast? #logix Date: Wednesday, January 08, 2020 8:10 PM I am configuring a complex interlocking in Logix where I would like to delay signals "until the dust settles" after throwing turnouts. There are delayed actions for turnouts and sensors, but that seems to be it, nothing for heads or masts. I could also imagine such a feature would be useful as a timed lockout such as was used in 1:1 interlockings. However, in the XML for the signal mast action there is a "delay=[x]" variable. As you can guess by now, messing around with it doesn't seem to do anything. Is it ignored? Lacking a signal delay feature, any ideas for a workaround to do it? ? ...mike |
