Re: LCC Buffer in Linux
Eric:
I don't have my notes but the serial connection in Mint/Ubuntu was fussy... searching the web I found that a chmod was the best way to keep the path through the USB connection... other ways of setting permissions weren't "sticky"... I'll look for those notes... Jim Albanowski |

LCC Buffer in Linux
I am trying to get JMRI up and running in Mint or Ubuntu (I've tried both) using the LCC Buffer-USB. ?Everything works fine on my Mac, but I want to use a cheap Linux box to run the railroad.
I am able to select the appropriate serial port in JMRI, and it believes that it's connected, but it's not sending or receiving CAN frames on the LCC bus. ?I can confirm this with a generic CAN interface on another machine. ? I am in the dialout group, and have set the permissions for the port to read/write. I have tried both Mint and Ubuntu. ?If I understand correctly, the RxTx issue is no longer relevant. ?If I'm wrong, please let me know. Does anyone have this device working under Linux? Thanks- Eric |

Re: Where are the TMCC1 Command list located in JMRI
I don¡¯t know much about TMCC, don¡¯t know what ¡°Train commands¡± refers to (throttles _do_ work), but the TMCC JMRI code can be viewed here:
It would be _Great_ if you wanted to add to that any things that are missing. For throttle controls, most of the code that formats the messages to the TMCC system can be found here: If there¡¯s something specific that Train commands can do, I can try to point you at more specific places if you describe what¡¯s needed. Re: Missing options in JMRI
Jay,
Recent-ish versions of JMRI pay attention to the LocoNet JMRI connection's configuration. The list of menu items present in the LocoNet connection depend on the the combination of "system connection" type and "command station type". - If the active combination does not have the ability to communicate with LocoNet devices, then some menu items are not shown - menu items which require LocoNet communiction. - If the active combination does have the ability to communicate with LocoNet devcies, then the menu items _are_ shown. For example, JMRI configured to communicate with a PR2 cannot access LocoNet, so some menu items are not shown. Similarly, a configuration for a DCS52 connected via its USB port, and with "Command station type" set as "DCS52 USB interface as standalone programmer", cannot access LocoNet. Another example, JMRI configured to communicate with a DCS52 via its USB port and configured with the "command station type" set as "DCS52 (Zephyr Xtra)" will be able to communicate with with LocoNet, so all menu items are available. Please check how you have your connection configured, and ensure that you have not working with a "standalone programmer" configuration. Regards, Billybob |

Hi John, Not sure if you're having the same issue I had, since I'm running windows 7 and Firefox Quantum version 69.0.3 64 bit. What I found was if I use Decoder Pro with my Digitrax PR4 just after booting my computer, no issues. If I tried to use Decoder Pro after going online, I received the same timeout error message you're receiving.
Something to try, do a cold boot of you computer (complete shut down, not a restart) as soon as the computer boots and before opening any other processes or web browsers, see if Decoder Pro functions without any errors? |

Missing options in JMRI
Jay
Good Morning,
Last night I launched JMRI because I was having an issue with one of my DS64's. Where did the option to program various stationary decoders go? I am running Win 10 Pro with the latest Fast Ring build. JMRI 4.14, the latest version of Java, installed after this issue popped up. Did this go away in the latest builds? I haven't touched the DS64's in months. Jay |

Re: RailOp to JMRI Operations conversion
thanks Dave that is way farther into the system than I want to get the simple works perfect for me. I might try something new if I can see how it would benefit my operation. I'm for the most part fine with what I have.
