Re: DecoderPro &ESU LokSound Factory reset

The latest JMRI version should uniquely identify every LokSound V4/Select/Essential Sound Unit/5 decoder manufactured ?by ESU and supported by ESU's LokProgrammer V5.0.7. Please perform the following test for me: 1) Place your loco on the the Program Track. 2) Using "Direct Mode", do a New Loco->Read Type From Decoder. 3) Don't create a new loco, simply close the Window (tell us how many it picked). 4) Go to the Help->System Console window and you should see a line like this: "IdentifyDecoder INFO ?- Decoder returns?mfgID:151;modelID:255;productID:33554511" 5) Please Select, Copy and Paste that line into a message for me. I need to see the three values it is returning for?mfgID, modelID and productID. Dave in Australia |

Hi Roger

The Pause action has more than a few issues that have been around for ever. It tends to only work on entry no delay, and uses a different stopping method than anywhere else. Using a multi block end section for back and forth has issues as well. Steve G. On August 2, 2019 6:05:37 PM EDT, Roger Merritt <merritt_roger@...> wrote: Steve, --

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMike, I see what you mean, but it's pretty easy (at least for me) to assume that 'Roster Location' and 'Roster Folder' are the same place. 'Roster Folder' (a term you have coined) is not the same as 'the "roster" folder' (the term we use). Hence?'Roster Location' and 'the "roster" folder'?are not the same place. And it does say that the media files can be in the Roster Location, which is apparently incorrect. If the roster.xml and the loco.xml/ media files are supposed to be in two separate locations then maybe add a statement to the effect. Just a suggestion. I'm fixing that. I would also suggest adding a link to the ProfileFileStructure page to the Technical Section of the main JMRI Help page unless it's there already and I just can't see it.. I can never find it when I need it. Dave in Australia |

Steve,
?? ? ? ?I've tried running a 80 foot train through that section which has a 100 foot first block.? On either Block entry or section entry is goes to the very last block and stops.? I made a test transit with that area I wanted the train to stop at and it does in fact stop in that block I wanted. ? ? However, these section I am dealing with is a passenger yard,? Wanting to use the other track also as an alternate track.? Since I first made this passenger yard tracks, I'm using two blocks.? One for the passenger cars to sit in and one for the loco to sit in.? I'll have to combine these two tracks since I know longer need the loco block. ? ?The gist of this is that I can not use Alternate sections if the sections have two blocks and expect it to stop where I want it to.? ?Just pointing out a problem with the "Pause" action. OK - right. It was only as the logs were never mentioned that I chimed in on the off-chance. All bases covered, then, apparently. Wouter On Fri, 2 Aug 2019 at 21:17, <forfoum@...> wrote: On Fri, Aug 2, 2019 at 03:27 PM, whmvd wrote: |

Steve,
? ? Maybe it has to do with train length.? I'll check that out next. But strange thing is I did a test with the single block section behind it and the train did slow down when it entered the block and stopped after the last block was cleared, but it had also entered the block ahead.? Not so with the two block section. Roger |

Here's another one (my special subject is the blindingly obvious): I've skimmed through the entire thread once again, and I never once see that either the log-files were checked or someone suggesting checking them. Re: Help getting JMRI working on a new WIN10 computer
Have you checked that +/- 5 v is really there? or is it just close? I use powered hubs that ensures that my voltage is true and also allows me additional devices such as a 2tb HDD for my Raspbery Pi.

In any event, I moved the roster.xml to the User Files location (the folder that contains the Roster folder along with the profile folders, systemfile, etc.) , renamed the roster.xml and .bak to 'Oldroster', reinstalled 4.17.2, and restarted DP with all of the media files showing on the roster. Re: Pausing in a section JMRI ver 4.15.9
Roger,
Stopping is based on block length vs. train length, and whether or not you have resistor wheel sets checked. Or there's different logic if you have a speed profile for that loco. What are those values in your situation? Are they accurate? |

Re: Versions 4.16 & 4.17
Dave and all,
The Roster directory, which is where Roster Location currently points to,? indeed contains the roster.xml file, the Locoxxx.xml files, and the image files. Dave, it also has a nested Roster directory in it which also contains all of the Locoxxx.xml files and image files. Curiously, it also contains a Consist directory which contains a Consist.xml file. I was fiddling with the Consist Tool on July 25 and that's the date on both the directory and Consis.xml file. I didn't create them so it must have been done by the software and put here for some reason. I didn't create either of the nested Roster or Consist directory, at least on purpose. What I propose to do is move the roster.xml file out of the Roster directory and into the User Files area and repoint the Roster Location Setting to this new location.? Below is the file structure requested. Thanks for the help and I'll let you know. User Files Location: C:\Users\Mary\OneDrive\P&PU\JMRI\JMRI\
Roster Location: C:\Users\Mary\OneDrive\P&PU\JMRI\JMRI\Roster\

Pausing in a section JMRI ver 4.15.9
All,
JMRI ver 4.15.9 Windows 10 Dispatcher using Auto run ? ? Having a problem getting a train to stop in a section that has two blocks.? I want it to stop in first block, but the different settings has it stopping in second block or past the section.? Crazy. ? ? Is this an old problem that has not been resolved.? Or this a situation where the pause action only works with single block sections? Roger |
