Re: operations routes and locations
Tony,
Are you saying that your locos and cars have moved from where you placed them?? When you build a train, the car's destination changes each time you build a train.? If you think you have a problem, turn on car, loco, & train logging and we'll be able to see when and how a car or loco is moved.? Also turn on "Save Train Manifests" this will help us figure out what's going on. Dan |

Re: operations routes and locations
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI am using the train build options window. There are two places to say what to do. In the first I choose the caboose option enter classification yd and add caboose. That works perfect. Now after the cars are delivered the engine comes back with the caboose to the classification yard where i want to place it on the caboose track and then the engine goes to the engine yard How do i do that? If i use the second item on the train build options window i select classification yard and remove caboose. Now the build selects an engine in the engine yard, gets caboose from classification yard, removes the caboose in the classification yard, goes to industrial area to set cars without a caboose Tony On Aug 4, 2018, at 9:28 AM, Dan Boudreau <daboudreau@...> wrote:

Z21 and POM
I try to program via POM with my Roco Z21 (black), and note a strange problem: CV can be read, but I have error "Timeout talking to command station (306)" every time I try to write a value to a cv. The strange thing is that if I re-read the CV value I get the new value, so the cv is written, but the error message is shown.
Is possible to remove the error message? I have no problems programming via programming track. I'm using JMRI 4.12 Z21 has firmware 1.32 Any help appreciated Moreno |

Re: Help
What version of Jmri were you on before you upgarded to "latest version". And by latest version, do you mean 4.12 recommended stable version?? or 4.13.1 test version?? or 4.13.2 ish from nightly builds?? Also, what computer platform windows, linux, mac, pi??? If you were on JMRI 4.10 before updating, that version had a bad habit of automatically changing connection preferences to internal. Just updating your Jmri will not fix that. You must go into preferences and fix it there as well. Also, windows 10 in particular does auto updates and there have been reports of it affecting com ports.? Mor information from you will help those with thr knowledge to assist you. Tom Wilson On Sat, Aug 4, 2018, 7:31 AM Don Martin <dbmartin@...> wrote:

Re: Help
<I¡¯m trying to figure out how to get some help.>
The following is just a suggestion so you can take it for FWIW.? I've been a member of and moderated other forums for years.? The first thing to do when asking for or seeking help online is to give a descriptive subject title to your post rather than just the word "Help".? I guarantee you'll lose 50% or more of your potential answers because some members won't take the time or bother to click on your post to see what you need help for.? Something like "Connecting to JMRI issues: Worked before; now it doesn't" will help channel the right folks with the know-how to help you out of your predicament. Again, FWIW... Tom |

John,
? ? I believe if the settings in Preferrences for connections has been changed to internal instead of Loconet would cause that. Roger |

New Version of Java-Should I install
I am new to JMRI.? My computer told me that there is a new version of Java available (Java 8 Update 181).
Is it best to do the updates as they come out or wait awhile before installing them? Thanks, Woody |

Re: operations routes and locations
Tony,
There's an option to add or remove a caboose anywhere in the train's route. see "Optional Train Requirements" in that section. Dan |

Re: operations routes and locations
Tony,
Resetting a train will release the engines and cars assigned to the train.? If you "Terminate" a train, that will move all of the engines and cars to their assigned locations.? The program is over 10 years old, and you'd be the first to have cars move with a reset. Dan |

Re: operations routes and locations
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDear danI got the caboose to be picked up at the classification yd but i cant get it to be returned to the classification yd. apparently according to the manual it must be returned to the last location and that has to be the engine yard or else you cant return the engine. Is there another way to get the caboose back to its origin other than having another train bringing it from engine yd to class yd but to do that the class yd would also have to store the engine. I found another set of errors. These indirectly make it not possible to assign new layout blocks to track components. That is why my normal fix did not work. I also manually renamed block SL2-3 back to SL2. Based on the block system names, that was its original user name. The SL2-3 sensor is still in the sensor table. The block is using sensor SL2. For reference, it almost never works to rename a block. It is safer to create a new one and delete the old one when there are no remaining references. You should download and use "37 Heaven DS Two.xml¡±. I recommend that you create a new posting for your decoder issue. It will be more visible with a proper title. Tony,
And if you want to depart without a caboose from your engine yard and add the caboose at the classification yard, you would use the option to add or remove a caboose in the train's route: Dan |
