You haven't answered my question. You have already been told you are wasting peoples time by not answering a direct question.

So just what was the previous version? A direct answer would be real useful instead of an indirect answer that leaves us assuming we understand what you are saying.

I have pointed out why I suspect this is your problem. It would be real nice to actually have an answer that proves it, and then appropriate people will be able to give direct instructions on what is required to resolve your problem.

My earlier versions go all the way back to 2.6 years ago I've used the same
preferences the whole time because the hardware has remained the same I
mostly use production releases to avoid bugs

Seeing you say you upgraded to 4.8 I assume your previous version was 4.6,
as you appear to be using only production releases.

If this is so it would appear you may have fallen foul of the change to the
serial library that occurred with version 4.7.4 (see the release notes). Note
that there is an implication in the release notes that this will introduce a
change to your setup.

Terry,

Just because you don't think you made any configuration changes does
not
mean that some may have happened.

So that's why we wanted to get a check of the configuration. So as you
say,
the connection should be:

System Manufacturer: Digitrax

System Connection: LocoNet LocoBuffer-II

Serial Port: (some COM device)

Command Station Type: DCS50 (Zephyr)

Next would be seeing the console log file to detect errors. I expect we
will
see an error given what you say isn't happening.

Hi,
Just more information regarding the 4.9.2 problem.
I was able to uninstall it. Then installed 4.9.1 and copied the contents of my JMRI backup folder into the active folder and everything is working again. I saved the log files from the 4.9.2 problems if you need or want to see them.
Thanks,
Tom Wilson

Locked Test version 4.9.2 problems under Windows 7

Hi,
I just downloaded and upgraded to newest test version.

Windows 7 completely up to dste, HP touchscreen desktop, 8 gig ram, Latest Java, NCE Power Cab with USB interface.

I use for Decoder Pro only at this time.

Used test version 4.9.1 since it came out with no issues.

The program loads fine. But then it starts responding real slow. Then finally it flashes a screen that says unrecoverable error and many lines referring to Java problems. Never could open one of my existing roster entries. Went into eternal think mode then flashed the unrecoverable error message.

One time, I chose to go into preferences from the Decoder Pro main screen, and it let me look at various screens although it was very slow. Then it said Java Heap and a bunch more stuff, but it all disappeared and the program shut itself down.

Just letting you know.

Tom Wilson

? Bill,

The PR3 can be used as a stand-alone programmer, in which case it is NOT connected to ANY command station.

However, to reiterate what Walt said, it is NOT capable of interfacing with any MRC system.

At the very least, Digitrax and MRC use different communication protocols, and at the worst you may end up damaging one or both units due to incompatible electrical characteristics.

Thanks, Walt. I just read up on it and it looks like a stand alone instrument for adjusting the decoders, to be used on a test track without the MRC connected. Use it on the test track. Do what has to be done and then check it on the regular layout. I have the knowledge to have the test track connect and disconnect to the rest of the layout. Let me know if I am not right. I thought I saw a place to hook up the MRC to the pr3 . If used this way the power supply in the prc would be isolated from the MRC.

Locked Re: PIKO Smartcontrol to JMRI via Lan not connecting

Hi Martin,

So that was 5 months ago. Can you give an update on how JMRI works with the PIKO Smart Box (and vice versa)?

Thanks,

Brandon

Locked Test version 4.9.2 of JMRI/DecoderPro is available for download

Test version 4.9.2 of JMRI/DecoderPro is available for download.

This is the next in a series of test releases that will culminate in a production release, hopefully in December 2017.

There have been a lot of updates in this version, so it should be considered experimental.

If you use JMRI on Linux or Mac and are updating from an earlier version, there¡¯s a necessary migration step. (Not needed on Windows) Please see the release note for details: <>

For more information on the issues, new features and bug fixes in 4.9.2 please see the release note:
<>

Note that JMRI is made available under the GNU General Public License. For more information, please see our copyright and licensing page.
<>

The download links, along with lots of other information which we hope you'll read, can be found on the release note page:

(I saw this years ago, but cannot find it now.) Guess I will need to read the new JMRI manual.
I believe there are two ways to do this.

One is to right click on the function button in the throttle, and change the lockable property. On systems ( such as Lenz ) that allow momentary/continuous statIs to be configured for each address, doing this allows all throttles to know about the status.

The other method uses the Function labels tab in the roster. This will actually trigger the throttle configuration mentioned above , if you open a throttle with the roster entry. See:

Highlight the roster entry in the main window and click on "Media and Labels". Then check the Locked box next to F2.

Terry,

Unfortunately the attachments get removed on the group messages. You could
send it direct, put it on your website, or use the 'Help->Upload Debugging

Terry,

Just because you don't think you made any configuration changes does not
mean that some may have happened.

So that's why we wanted to get a check of the configuration. So as you say,
the connection should be:

System Manufacturer: Digitrax

System Connection: LocoNet LocoBuffer-II

Serial Port: (some COM device)

Command Station Type: DCS50 (Zephyr)

Next would be seeing the console log file to detect errors. I expect we will
see an error given what you say isn't happening.
