Re: Difference Between Compare and Reset
#decoderpro
开云体育Don, seeking help, inquires: ? “Recently developed a problem with one of my older diesels, an N scale Bachmann with Econami factory installled. Def used is ECO-100 Diesel. Sound was fine, loco would not move.” ? Can you blow horn, turn lights off/on, etc.? ? If so, the brake may be set in the decoder, and/or other settings that impact startup/shutdown/speed increase/decrease, etc.? ? My bet is on the brake function.? Refer to the instructions that came with the loco.? Check the Soundtraxx website for additional in depth information about the Soundtraxx decoder products. ? “On the programming track, I loaded the loco's DecoderPro roster entry file and used the CVs tab to compare all values. No differences. Loco still not moving.” ? The compare process will only show differences between what is currently in the decoder, and what Decoder Pro has on file for it.? Totally read only, plus display of differences where noticed. ? “Did a Reset. Loco now moves.” ? Not surprised. ? “Rewrote all CVs from the loco's roster entry file. Loco now will again not move. ?To emphasize, these settings have worked fine for years.” ? Works fine right after a reset, but once the record in DP is written back to the loco it no longer works, correct?? Sounds more and more like it could be related to having brakes applied. ? “Are there some settings somewhere that DecoderPro can not see or change, except by reset?” ? Decoder Pro doesn’t know what should be set/reset on any given decoder.?? Decoder Pro issues a “reset” command to the decoder; the decoder then performs its own reset according to whatever logic is built into _that_ decoder. ? Depending on what a decoder and its logic need to do to support certain functionality there very well could be memory of some type in the decoder other than CVs that the decoder uses to support the functionality offered.? Whether or not memory allocated for such a purpose is cleared/reset/initialized by a decoder reset would be a function of the decoder design. ? I’d dig into the decoder documentation and the manuals on the Soundraxx site.? If you don’t find something there, you might want to check with Soundtraxx Tech Support. ? Best Regards, ? Steve ? I have a fix. Don't know when it will appear.
In the mean time, if the last thing you do is save the loading action, and don't read or write any other action, it should work.

Re: DecoderPro Opens every time as a new install
George,
?
One - admittedly unlikely - suggestion that no-one has mentioned is to check if the account you use on the Windows PC at the museum is part of the "Guests" group.? If it is, then by design Windows will reverse any changes made during your session and start fresh the next time you login.
?
To check this, you need to open a command prompt with admin access, then type the command:
net user <username>
then press Enter.? NOTE: <username> is the name you are logged in to Windows with.
?
Down near the end of the list you should see information on "Local Group Memberships" and "Global Group Memberships".? If either of these list "Guests", then Windows is doing what it is supposed to do by resetting the account at each login. |

Re: convert Layout Editor panel to control panel editor panel
开云体育John, ? If you are meaning, can you display things on both panels that are also displayed on the other panel, then yes. Like you could have a turnout on the LE pane and a toggle switch on the CPE pane for the exact same layout turnout. Same for sensors and other objects. ? For example, I used a LE panel to describe a layout and generate the signal logic. I then built a CPE panel to be the CTC control for that layout. They work together very well. ? Let me know if you have more questions about multiple panels. Just remember, they all are contained in a single file. That’s why sometimes when I’m explaining I use the word pane instead of panel. A single ‘panel files’ can contains many window panes of different tools, views, LE or CPE, etc… ? -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team

Re: CTC Model Board
The changes I’m incorporating can be handled with some minor manual edits to the model board. I’m not adding or deleting any sensors on the model board either, just modding some graphics.?
OTOH, it seems like the most straightforward way to edit the columns is with the GUI generation tool.?

Re: convert Layout Editor panel to control panel editor panel
开云体育John B, ? You can’t convert a LE panel to CPE. However, you can keep your LE panel and add a CPE pane for other use. Keep in mind that LE is more about what hardware is where, what relates to what, etc.. If you used it to create the signaling, you still need that. I’ve combined the use of different panes within the system for different needs. ? -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team

Re: Problem loading Bachrus Speedometer
#bachrus
Bob - I did as you suggested.? My power cab is on Com7 and the Bachrus on Com6.? I then Started Jmri on NEC-Pwr Cab and it started normally, showing a good connection to the Power Cab.? I deleted an seetin of Internal, and Bachrus.? Restarted Decoder Pro. I then went to Preferences-> Connections and created the Bachrus setup..? Restarted Dec Pro again. After it started, and showed the Power Cab connection green, I selected?Speedo from the selections ( top row).? The Speedo screen came up.? When I selected an engine and pressed 'Start' on the panel it ran the engine through all 28 speed steps.? Unfortunately the graph showed a flatline for the entire 28 steps!?? From What I see now, it the software appears to allbe working.? There's a problem with my speed roller communicating to Decoder Pro? which I'll have to investigate. Thanks for you help!! Re: Automatic Dispatching
This is a common problem when moving the signal heads and SSL to signal masts and SML. ?For various reasons, it was common to include the turnout with the track attached to the points end. ?This means that there is no block boundary for signal masts. For Dispatcher automation purposes, the 5.11.2 (and later) JMRI test release has a "ghost" block feature. ?This makes it possible to create a block for the turnout with an internal sensor. ?This provides the block boundary for a signal mast at the points end. ?See??for information on ghost blocks. After creating the ghost block, the signal mast logic (SML) for the affected signal mast will need to be updated.
