Re: Warning CheckAutoRelease release section failed

Jean
The most likely cause is your train has moved into the next block before it was allocated, such as not stopping in the block it was ordered to stop in, or simply going faster than your sensors can work.
Set all sensors active. Start train. Make the first section ahead of the train unoccupied. It should move in to the section and stop. Repeat.
Or turn off auto allocate. And manually add each section, release the one behind.?

Re: Help PanelPro turn on a signal mast with logix

Dave, how do I set up the logix initializer? That sounds like exactly what I need - I just need something to set the signal to a known aspect when I start up panelpro.?

Thanks

Re: Dick Bronson Clinics

Jay,

The basics are still true, but the subjects change as the world of electronics moves along. Most modern electronics is peer-peer, including the new NMRA LCC standards, so my later clinics concentrate on those principles. The newest videos also cover the new LCC standards, and are even newer than all except the latest posted clinics.

I am going to use CMRI circuits and boards from my Visual Basic CTC and Layout to run my railroad and CTC using JMRI.? I have downloaded and printed so far 4 of his clinics on using Panel Pro.

Or should I go to some of the many videos on You Tube?

Thanks

Yes. I've seen him post to this group on a LCC thread and on a signaling thread in the past week.

? Basically are the 2009 PanelPro Clinics still applicable to the recent version of JMRI?
Generally, yes. Specifically? Probably not. JMRI has changed in various ways since 2000, so details have likely changed! I would think that JMRI's CMRI "features" haven't changed much, but Dick probably hasn't focused on CMRI in general anyways. JMRI's Signaling, in general, probably has had a few new features since 2000, though. Newer "support" materials are likely "better".

Or should I go to some of the many videos on You Tube?
Videos tend to be more-recent than Dick's presentations.

But videos have the same problems as web pages - JMRI can have changes since JMRI version that was used when the video was produced, just like ".pdf"s... No matter how the material is presented, they may or may not tell which JMRI version was used, they may or may not discuss why certain JMRI features were used or not used, and they may or may not present a "good" way to do things in JMRI.

(For my time and effort, I will _always_ go to a printed material, for many of the reasons just mentioned. If nothing else, I can pull down a PDF that I have never seen, and use the "Search" feature of a PDF reader FAR more accurately than I can pay attention to both video and audio for the duration of a typical video! Et voila! An answer to my question, or pull another download and do some PDF searching, all in the time that the video is still talking about things I have no interest in... But, "Your Mileage May Vary"...)

And, for those of you who expect to be at the Amhurst Railway Society's huge annual train show in Springfield, MA this weekend, Dick is at the RR-Circuit booth today and tomorrow, and he will give a couple of LCC clinics, too...

Re: Dick Bronson Clinics

I know Dick is still at RRCirkits. I talked to him last week.? Dick's contact info is on the RRCirkits website.? I have found him very helpful.

The "VSD buffer consumption control" is now included and will be available in the upcoming JMRI 5.11.3 Test Release.

Hopefully you will find a VSD configuration that enriches your JMRI operations session.
When you add VSDecoders in the VSD Manager window, keep the JMRI System Console open to see if everything has been successful. I am working on a VSD buffer consumption control. But this will take some time.

I have a series of locomotives with light and motion decoders. I must have only 5 or 6 sound locomotives.
What happens is that my layout is frequented by some friends on the weekends, 2 or 3 friends join me to focus on layout operations.
I have 2 main lines without any buildings (destinations and origins). All destinations and origins are on secondary lines, sometimes terminals or duplicates (detours) of the main lines.
Our fun is that each one manages 1 or 2 locomotives and performs the JMRI operations challenges. So, while we travel along the main lines, other trains wait on terminal lines or secondary lines waiting for the occupancy detection system to release the traffic lights and allow the trains to travel on the main lines.
With this, we have under the control of 6 to 8 locomotives circulating on the layout, each one receiving the appropriate traffic clearances. These are the 6 to 8 locomotives that I put on the roster, in the VSD group, and that I previously associated with a sound model. When I create a VSD file, I have several sound models to associate with a locomotive. At the moment, I have 17 sound models in a single VSD.
I will include a representation of my layout here in the post. This layout is 11.5 x 7.5 meters, so it is possible to have more traffic.

The red lines in the layout are lines that are currently occupied. I have implemented occupancy identification coils via Arduino and CMRI (there are 8 CMRI nodes). The Arduinos control traffic lights in the Layout. The lines are segmented into sectors and each line derived from the main ones has an individual occupancy sensor.
In the CCO the green dots are unoccupied lines and the red dots are occupied lines.
"The toy" is interesting!
I will also include an image of my roster.

Can the Mast Type be changed? #signalmasts

For some existing signals, I want to change their mast types. It's within the same signalling system.
Is this possible and how?

Re: Entire RR file is gone

I tried that but i don't know how to get to the log file in order to download it. Where the N&S data used to be in my computer files only has the My Railroad test data. Below that in a folder called library the N&S and the My Railroad test data are shown there. It appears that in this all my data is in fact there. I can see my rosters, i can see the manifests and their history. I just can't get the program to open with the shortcuts i always used on my desktop. I am really lost if i have to get into the guts of the machine.
