When you add a track to a location, all of the track move counts are reset to zero for that location.? When you add a schedule to a spur, track move counts are reset for all locations and tracks in the program.

I'd suggest posting the problem decoder definition file, and asking someone to look at it.? That will establish whether there is some feature within it that's causing the problem.??

It would be interesting to know what decoder file you've updated/changed.
?
Sometimes, updates to decoder files require changes to the JMRI code as well (Which is why adding newer definitions to older versions of JMRI is not usually recommended).
?
If your updated file is based on one that received such updates between 4.26 and 5.10, your definition that's based on the older code may not work with the newer code.

I am working on a simple layout on Panel Pro, using JMRI 5.10 on Linux 24.04. The idea is to learn panel pro features on a simple layout. Here are the questions:
?
  1. I drew the simple layout (2 crossovers and double main line, simple double loop). I would like to move the all diagram within the layout editor. I am able to select the complete layout, but I have not figured out how to move it as a whole.
  2. It is simple to add and associate blocks to track sections. Is there a way to add the name of the block on the diagram. The idea is that the block name should be visible on the layout diagram.
  3. A crossover has two turnouts that are activated simultaneously. My idea was that each turnout would be its own block, but the edit on crossover is looking for four blocks. I can see two blocks but not four. Also how is the association turnout to block done and how can I find out?

Hi Steve -

Thank you for your help. Yes, it looks like the older iPad remembered the /panel page instead of the frame page. I've made it work by changing /panel/ to /frame/ in the web address.

The good news is that it looks like I can keep the /panel pages for the newer iPads and use the /frame servers for the old - both are working when I do this.

I am trying to do some testing and want to see which tracks are getting what level of traffic.? ?

P.S. The reason you still need to go through 5.0 even though you do a ¡°clean install¡± is that 5.0 contained provision for updating certain formats. That is not in 5.10 because 5.10 assumes you either are either starting from total scratch or have existing files that were converted under 5.0. At least, that is my understanding. If that is not the case, you are apparently in a very bad place.

Roger, no disrespect, but how did you uninstall JMRI in order to do a ¡°clean¡± install? When I uninstall JMRI, it does not give me a clean uninstall. There are many remnants left on the computer (Windows systems). I still say you need to first install 5.0 and then install 5.10.

As part of the 5xx install, you also need to remove JAVA 8.
If you have Java 8 and JAVA 17 both installed, you can have issues.

So when you open 5.10, what Java does it say is installed? (Shows in the help\about menu item)

how to deliver a car from Yard to Spur in the same Location #operationspro

 

I have 3 towns (1 train per town) that I want the cars returned to the Yard Track first and then the local switcher to move the car to the Freight Terminal Spur.? Both the Yard Track and the Freight Terminal Spur are in the same Location "Gldn Yard".? I also have an Industrial Location with several spurs also serviced by the Local Switcher.? The Switcher does move cars from the Yard to/from the Industrial area.? It will also move cars from the Industrial Location Tracks directly to the Freight Terminal Track.? ?But will not move between the Yard and the Freight Terminal Spur.? I am guessing because they are in the same Location.? Is their a build option to make this work?

My understanding is that upgrades become multi-step because file formats change as JMRI evolves and, rather than retaining backward compatibility with versions decades ago, lines are drawn so you upgrade from one line to the next. Panel files are supposed to be opened and saved at each of those steps so they can be opened at the next step.
Does the decoder file need to opened and saved in 5.0 before it can be opened in 5.10?? I've never created decoder files so out of my league here, just trying to suggest a potential trouble point.

The same could be asked about individual roster loco files but I've never heard of them being a problem so I assume they can always be read. The same does not apply to the roster index file but that is easily resolved by a simple rebuild, even if you've skipped all the upgrade steps.

Default setup for CMRI CPNODE?

 

I am building CPNODE modules using a microcontroller and I am curious if there is a way to change the default setup for the CPNODE in JMRI to match my modules without having to select the input and output cards every time?

The default is 16 in and 16 out, and each card adds 8 in or out as selected. My modules have 24 input and 32 output to start and can be expanded.
?
Any short cut on these? Would save alot of clicks on setup.

If you did not follow the upgrade steps mentioned in the release notes, all bets are off. Just installing 5.10 over 4.26 without the additional required steps is not sufficient.

However, the logs should give more detailed clues.
