Dave, I am checking my notes and have not found a mention of the SignalHead user information being lost; thus, I can't point you to any work arounds or scenarios that cause or prevent the loss.? Typically, the SignalHead user name is just for documentation and debug purposes, which is why I have never noticed it.? Most users (not all) let CATS create the SignalHeads.? I will let you know if I discover something. Sorry for the inconvenience. Rodney |

JUst a quick comment on this JMRI and decoder pro
Hi
I recently got a new digitrax DCS52 controller with booster and usb built in. I found JMRI so I loaded it and made a roster with my engines. I decided today to try to do the programming area and print out sheets for all my engines CV values. I just want to say, the people that invented this have done a great thing. This is so cool. I now have sheets with all my CV values for my 12 engines. And I have learned I can program with it too. Thanks to the hard working people that created this program and the user group here Bill New Richmond Wisconsin |

Getting started with Dispatcher - getting an NPE when creating a new Train
#dispatcher
I thought I had everything in place to Dispatch a train. At first I was getting messages that the Direction Sensors were missing in several Sections. I added those and now I'm getting Null Pointer Exceptions, followed by security exceptions. I've uploaded the Panel file and the Session log to ProblemsBeingWorkedOn, folder Scott_Walton. I'm sure I'm missing something basic, but I don't know what.
The Environment is Windows, Java 1.8_181, 64 bit, with JMRI 4.19.1. I'm using Digitrax with RR_Cirkits SignalMan for my signals. The Signal Mast Logic should be good for all the signals, I do have one crossover, for which I have a script, rather than Signal Mast logic (but that crossover is not in the transit). Any help would be appreciated. Scott Walton |

The very first Linux install page recommends the chmod 666 approach. Dave Sand ----- Original message -----

Re: Transponding script not working in JMRI 4.18

Roger,
More testing with only one loco. Loco appears in block as should when started. Loco moves across non-transponding block loco identity retained in bock one, ie script does not action a ¡®departure¡¯. When loco moves into a new transponding block it registers the loco address BUT also removes it from the block it was first registered in. This should not happen (and did not with my earlier script) I know it is an anomoly but I could see know way to locate a loco that is not active other than to run the full roster at zero speed at startup and this have3 a list on screen of where all locos are. So how does the new script manage to delete an entry that has was present when the loco moves into a transponding new block? Regards Peter New Zealand |

Bob, You never need to modify the permissions. ?Being a member of the dialout group provides the necessary permissions. crw-rw----? 1 root dialout 166,?? 0 Feb 12 16:37 ttyACM0 To verify your group membership: groups username username : username adm dialout cdrom sudo dip plugdev lpadmin sambashare The install instructions need to be updated. Yes, that's the thought, but I believe it would be a waste to print all the manifests when the information the dispatcher needs does not include what is happening to each individual?car.? Thanks. . Hi Phil, Thanks a bunch.? What you have is sort of what I'm looking for except I would need the train length in feet since there could be a mix of 40', 50', 70', and up to 89' long cars.? If working locally I could get the lineup off the printer or if working remotely the lineup could be printed as a PDF and emailed to the DS.? Hope this helps. track lineup in staging
#operationspro
Hey All,
On a prior setup in the town of Droar Yard (staging) when building a train my track numbers were all in numerical order. On the setup I'm on now in Droar Yard (staging) when I build a train the track sequence is all over the place numerically wise. There are 88 tracks in this location and trying to keep track of the one I'm on is a nitemare. Will this sequence straighten out as I go along manually or did I miss some checkbox along the way? Re: Transponding script not working in JMRI 4.18
Peter Rushworth
Hi Roger,
I think it was JMRI 4.16 and the Console told me that jmri.InstanceManager.reportManagerInsatnce had been depreciated. (At least I think that was the term used so say the comand was no loner valid). ?Unfortunately I had this current problems for about three weeks as I have also added two BXPA1's to the layout for additional tracks so it has taken a while and a number of upgrades of JMRI to get to where I am at. ?At the moment I have removed the track feeds from the BXPA1's just in was they were causing the problem - but no change. The two scripts I use are identical except the Startup one has the 'departure' lines #ed out and uses the IM6xx to display the locos identity on the panel. ?The Transponding.py script uses the IM3xxx to display the loco identities on the panel. ?Both appear to run correctly until locos get moved between block when the startup.py one loses the location. I have place a screen shot of the Panelpro panel in the Files Folder under Transponding. Regards Peter |
Is there a secret to saving Designer and getting it to also save (or not delete) signal head names?? We have over 100 signal heads defined with names and on the few saves something like 15 names were missing.? After a few more, only 11 names remained!? It seems that every time you save Designer more information is missing.? Have I missed something in the documentation?? What am I doing wrong?? A lot of work lost.? This is frustrating. Dave... |
