Glad you were able to get it to work. Thanks for the information, it should be helpful. Of course I don¡¯t think there are too many of the non-production LIUSBs are out there.

Why the Lenz 23150 shows a vendorID of 1111 in "lsusb"command output.

"According to Lenz, an LIUSB with a product ID of 1111:1234 was an early sample model. Lenz's advice at that time was to contact them for exchange, although there is nothing actually wrong with the unit you
have.
For some reason, these sample devices can be made to behave on windows, but they don't behave correctly on Linux. (I do all of my development on Linux, and the normal production version works just fine)." (dixit Paul Bender, source: )

Locked Test version 4.15.2 of JMRI/DecoderPro is available for download

Test version 4.15.2 of JMRI/DecoderPro is available for download.

This is the next in a series of test releases that will culminate in a production release, hopefully in early Summer 2019.

If you are currently using JMRI 4.9.6 or earlier, we strongly recommend that you first update to JMRI 4.12 and make sure that's running OK before updating to this test release. There have been a number of changes in serial port support, panel file format and configuration options since those earlier releases, and moving to the stable JMRI 4.12 release is a good way to work through any possible problems.
<>

If you use JMRI on Linux or Mac and are updating from JMRI 4.7.3 or earlier, there¡¯s a necessary migration step. (Not needed on Windows) Please see the JMRI 4.12 release note for details: <>

For more information on the issues, new features and bug fixes in 4.15.2 please see the release note:

Note that JMRI is made available under the GNU General Public License. For more information, please see our copyright and licensing page.

The download links, along with lots of other information which we hope you'll read, can be found on the release note page:

Reinstalling older versions will not fix your problem. The problem was caused by an issue in V4.12, but reinstalling v4.10 will never fix it. It will now be there in V4.10!!!

You must install V4.14 or later (over the top of whatever you currently have) and manually fix the problem as Bob and I have explained.

Trying to remove JMRI manually and reinstall will not fix the problem and could cause you to lose all your data (Roster entries, Panels, etc. - anything you have created).

Absolutely definitely you have some Preferences->Defaults set to Internal
(Bob has explained how to fix that...)
?or
you have NCE System Connection set to "Simulator" in Preferences->Connections.

Currently;. Will not switch from "Unknown" to OFF to ON. Preferences ALL set to NCE.? Also will not allow any change back to internal.

Never try to change anything back to Internal.

Tried deleting NCE/N and "installed NCE2 N2 same.

If you've got NCE/N and NCE2/N2 both installed (top of?Preferences->Connections pane, you've got a problem. You must delete the duplicate (NCE2/N2) and fix the original (NCE/N).

What is "simulator ?

It's a test only connection you can set up to use if you aren't currently connected to a layout. It looks like a real connection but the giveaways are:
- IDs all decoders as "Found mfg 123 (Masoth Electronic, GMBH) version 123; no such decoder defined.".
- All CVs return a value of 123.
- Long address returns 15,227.
(The same symptoms occur if you have some Defaults things set to Internal or not set to NCE.

Where is it displayed?

Preferences->Connections->System Connection set to "Simulator".

Using TightVNC Viewer to access the Pi's desktop I open PanelPro/Tools/Tables/Turnouts and create a list of turnouts.
Next select File/Store and select either Save Configuration and Panel to File or Save Configuration Only. I have tried both.
This opens JMRI User Files in which i have created a Folder named Turnouts and Routes. Open Turnouts and Routes. Enter the filename 'Turnout List.xml (there are several there now from previous attempts) and click 'Save'. A pop-up says the file already exists and do I want to overwrite? I select OK.
Close TightVNC and the laptop. The turnout list appears and works properly with WiThrottle on all my Apple devices.
Layout power off (this includes the Pi) and on restart the turnout list is gone from all devices.
I have to believe I am not saving correctly but I can't see my error. Please assist.

Locked JMRI / Digitrax PR3Extra & Windows 10

Hi all

Just installed the latest version of JMRI 4.14 on my new HP laptop computer Windows 10. Latest version of Java etc.I'm using a PR3-Extra and DCS51 for my Loco-net interface. USB 2.0
I successfully used the PR3 as a stand alone with the sound loader and decoder pro. experienced some difficulty setting it up.
I tried for a while to get the PR3 to connect with widows 10 with the Digitrax DCS51. I got the configuration to work once, i saved the settings. then try to connect again, the connection failed again no mater what i do.
Since I was able to get it to work at lease once I'm not sure where the problem is? Software, Hardware, Driver? or windows 10 never had this problem with my old computer running XP
I'm thinking another interface may be more reliable? PR-4, Loco-buffer.
any suggestions from those running widows 10

Defaults changing were issues in the previous 2 JMRI production releases. Make sure you are using at least JMRI 4.14.

doesnt matter though - working niw

**
WORKAROUND STEPS:
?
Load kernel module ftdi_sio:
sudo vi /etc/modules
add new line at the end of the file: ftdi_sio
?
Modify /home/pi/PanelPro_autoIdentify.sh to autodetect the Lenz 23150 Li-USB device.
If I'm correct, the?"04d8:0721 Microchip Technology, Inc."?is linked to the Lenz 23151 (which has USB and Ethernet):
?
copy the existing profile settings:
?
result=$(lsusb | grep -e "04d8:0721 Microchip Technology, Inc.")
if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
? printf "Found LENZ USB hardware\n"
? /home/pi/JMRI/PanelPro -p LENZ_USB.3efdbd7f
? exit 0
fi
?
and add a new set like, this set will find the USB Hardware, load the correct profile and also link the USB Hardware to the ttyUSB0 serial port
?
result=$(lsusb | grep -e "1111:1234")
if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
? printf "Found LENZ 23150 USB hardware with vendorID 1111 and productID 1234\n"
? sudo chmod 777 /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/ftdi_sio/new_id
? sudo echo 1111 1234 > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/ftdi_sio/new_id
? /home/pi/JMRI/PanelPro -p LENZ_USB.3efdbd7f
? exit 0
fi
?
?
The first time the LENZ_USB profile is loaded, the wrong serial port might be selected (ttyACM0).
click Edit Connections and select ttyUSB0.?
Restart JMRI.
?

?
Remarks:
?
sudo chmod 777 /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/ftdi_sio/new_id
sudo echo 1111 1234 > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/ftdi_sio/new_id

If you reset to factory defaults AND TESTED BEFORE ANY OTHER CV CHANGES ? and issue still present then the motor is wired wrong.?
Invert connections to motor.

The easier solution is to change the normal direction of travel in CV29. ?That will make forward direction right. ?In the comprehensive programmer, this setting is on the basic tab.

You may need to reverse the two headlights as well.

If I setup defaults as you have them (all Z21Loconet),? I also end up with greyed out on New LOCO and no read.

If I set DEFAULTS to all? Z21, then the New Loco is not greyed out and read/write appear as normal.

Hi Steve,

I thought as much, the turnout mode is set to Direct, with Feedback 1 and 2 blanked out and Turnout automation set to off, i have taken a screenshot here.

I have also made another gif with the CBUS event table, turnout file and layout editior showing, this may be a bit more clear, to start i change the switch by clicking the state, the icon on the layout updates to show the change, when i send the event in the cbus table the state changes in the turnout table but the layout is incorrect.

https://i.imgur.com/Cku2AJL.gif

By the way, the event table has just helped understand how events are created around the servo moving, how the end points generate opposite on and off events!

Strange happening. I upgraded from JMRI 4.11.6 to 4.14 and suddenly I could program the troublesome unit completely. I thought this was strange but, I'll take it.
