Virtual Sound Decoder - Clicks on looped sound files
Hello all,? I have had much success with the virtual sound decoder except in one area.? I have created my own decoder config and sound files and am having issues with the Looped throttle notch sounds having a very bad click as each loop restarts.? ?When creating my audio files, I was extremely careful to set my loop points at zero crossing points in the sound waves.? I checked the loop in my sound editor and everything was smooth. I have installed OpenAL as the directions state.? All functions work fine except the click in the output of the looped files.? Is there a setting that may be causing the sound file to not start exactly at the beginning? Is this a limitation to the OpenAL or the sound management system? I noticed in the XML config file, there is a Fade in and Fade out setting.? I assume it is milliseconds.? The example scripts are set to 5.? I tried 0 and 10 with not noticeable changes.? I also have looked for a reference to the XML commands for the sound decoder and found none.? I learned what I needed by studying the example config files.? ? Any help here would be greatly appreciated.?? Tim Timothy Miller |

Re: DecoderPro Will Not Read Programming Track
Go to your preferences and check your defaults tab, most likely have changed to internal. Change back to NCE.

Re: DecoderPro Will Not Read Programming Track
Norman, What version of Jmri?? Your symptom points to Preferences - Defaults being set to Internal. Jmri? 4.10 had a problem automatically doing this and not telling you. It continued into 4.12. I understand 4.14 due in a few days has this fixed. In the meantime, go to Edit-> Preferences -> Defaults and change anything set on Internal to your correct System. Save changes (lower left corner) and restart Jmri. DecoderPro Will Not Read Programming Track
I need help with accessing the programming track, which previously worked perfectly, but no longer.? I am open to suggestions. I tried searching for a related topic, but found nothing.? But then I am not good with key words. |

How about a photo in the files section, let us know how to get to it.

Not JMRI related. You should take this discussion to the NCE forum.

something like this -I I- ? If so, that is a non-polarized capacitor. If the symbol is -) I-, the curved side represents the foil on the outside of the roll of foil, insulator, foil that makes the capacitor, this is generally connected to "ground or the chassis", whatever represents the common connection for the circuit. Hope that does more to help than confuse. John ---------- Original Message ---------- |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWell Dan, there is only one train, with 3 locomotives advanced consisted, with 21 cars, all flat running.?It¡¯s rounds around the layout 2 or 3 times, then this happens. The train is cleaned.? Yes they are all 3 sound locomotives, but the capacitor idea is throw out. The units are already running.? Does it happen at any switch and it happens in random places Thanks Dave 6 Plus On Dec 22, 2018, at 10:32, Dan Boudreau <daboudreau@...> wrote:

Re: Layout Editor, Simple LED
Richard,
I do what Ken suggested. I use the lights to display an icon on my CPE based on turnout position but I have no connection to LED's on my layout. I follow the same process you do except that I use lights instead of a signal. For my CPE icons, I use the colored track pieces in program directory/icons/track/USS as my light display. I treat those lights as track pieces and build my CPE layout with a combo of turnouts and the track(light) pieces. When you build the light icons, you will have the option to command them via several methods. I use the turnout position to select which track (light) piece to display. As a result, I have a layout in CPE which allows me show the "open" path thru all my turnouts so that I have a full visual view of the active paths on my layout. I did this so I could use an iPad as my walk around control panel in lieu of LED's on my layout. I have no traditional physical control panels. This is a tedious process but that is because I now have hundreds of active track (lights) pieces on my layout to get the full color effect. However, if you only use a traditional LED image for your lights, it would be much easier to build your panels. |

Re: Nce EB1
I would look for a short on your layout.? Does the circuit breaker trip when the locos are crossing a switch?? Do your locos have sound?? If so, there's a current surge when charging the sound capacitors, so if one of the locos hits a dead spot and had to power up again that would be a surge.? Also do you have other locos on the layout with sound, they take power even if they aren't moving.
So look for shorts and dead spots, or just leave the setting at 3.5 amps. Dan |

i have read the NCE EB1 manual and it says that the factory setting is 2.5 amps. When I am running a train, 3 locomotives in advance consist, it had a tendency to kick the breaking out. It did it in both power district the train travels on.?
Upon changing the breaker to position A for the 3.5 amp selection, there is no problems. You could say, maybe the consist is drawing more then 2.5 amps, but that would be highly unlikely, unless there was a problem with a locomotives? But all 6 of my power districts have RRampMeters on them and I can see the demand level being use. The train is only using 1.10 amps, in Speed Step 40. Both power districts it tranverses, read the same Ampere used.? My system setup consist of: 1- Digitraxx PS2012 2- NCE P515 1- NCE CS02 Command Station 4- NCE P104 1- NCE SB5 1- NCE DB3 for Auxillary Bus (BD20, Light-It etc) 6- RRampMeters the lower level Mainline that this train uses, crosses across 2 of P105.? It just seems strange, I had to change the jumper for more ampere, when am only seeing at best 1.2 used on the RRampmetters. The equipment is all being used on a layout that is in progress of being built, with only the 1st level nearing completion of track laying and DCC electrical done.? Your pondering thoughts are welcomed about this would be appreciated.? Thanks Dave in PA |

Re: Layout Editor, Simple LED
Richard,
The issue I think is you picked a signal icon. From your description, I think a normal lamp would be what you are asking for. Here you would have the active/inactive as your red/green, then the unknown/inconsistent as the yellow. Then you don't need any logic to drive it, it follows the turnout (or feedback sensor) directly. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Re: Layout Editor, Simple LED
I have done it so:
Created signal headsby adding Double output, green red output. system name SH504. egample? green output use existing NT504 red output ? ? ?use existing. ? ? ?NT504 Create? added to Layout right click and edit signal head icon change icon program directory icons mediumschmatics LEDs then I dragged the red to Green, the green to Red. This is where I think it should be possible to put in a yellow light as "inconsistent" or "unknown". Updated panel Edit Logic Diverging leg of turnout Red when Turnout NT 504 state is Closed. Apply. I want the LED's to ideally show what state the turnouts are in when I swithch on the Pi, or show them as yellow. I hope this is clearer. Thanks Richard |

Layout Editor, Simple LED
Hi. I have reconfigured my Layout and made it as simple as possible. At each DCC controlled point I have placed an LED to show if the point is thrown or closed. The?concern is that?when I switch on the Pi and open up JMRI all the LED's are green, even if a point is thrown. When I did a similar thing in Panel it was a simple matter to have them all?show as yellow until I changed them.
It is hard to explain. Is there any way of attaching the file to aid in explaining? I have it on a usb. Thanks, Richard |

Re: EDGE CONNECTORS BETWEEN PANELS
Dave,
I have just raised an issue to ask if a "DISCONNECT" option can be added to LE/PE to permit a 'Split into two" in a Block/Track Segment to be made a complete Break. If splitting the track incorrectly is causing these ghost connections then perhaps there is a need to go down this path to try to avoid any errors in the first place? Dave |
