Locked Re: DR5000 XpressNet

For USB you just need to connect to the DR5000 direct. Three com ports are then made, one for the DR5000, plus Loconet and Xpressnet ones, JMRI can then connect via either or both. The DR5000 software can also run at the same time. An LiUSB can be used if further from the DR5000 than a USB lead reaches.

Digitrax - Loconet LocoBuffer-USB - USB (COMn, ttyACMn, ...) - DCS100 (Chief)
is a very reliable combination.

Hi Mario,

The INFO message indicates that your OpenAL installation is working correctly.

I do not have the skill to analyze the ERROR message. VSD may not work with a NCE PowerCab system (see /g/jmriusers/message/153480).

You might try a JMRI throttle instead of a physical throttle. VSD SHOULD work in JMRI Simulator mode (NCE Simulator or Digitrax LocoNet Simulator) together with a JMRI throttle.

Ron,
You are somewhat correct. I do not want to have each session to be a repeat of the previous session and I do not want a paperwork intensive effort on my part to build all the car movements using waycards or switch lists that I create myself. I want OpsPro to generate car movement such that each session has a different mix of car movements. I believe I can do that but making adjustments to the frequency options in OpsPro so that the manifest created by OpsPro will vary from session to session.?

Robert,

If you want this to work properly, you need to:

1) Make sure you are using the same Connection Prefix on both machines. Since Win7 machine is working with your panel, change the?Connection Prefix on the WinXP machine to match the working one.

2) Do the following on your Win7 machine.
- Create a folder called "JMRI for USB" on your Win7 machine outside any existing JMRI folder (probably in your home directory).
- Follow the Step 1 instructions at <> to set up the Win7 machine, substituting "JMRI for USB" wherever you see "JMRI folder in Dropbox).
- Make sure you move your panel files, "roster" folder, roster.xml, the "resources" folder and any other files you have created from "User Files Location" to?"JMRI for USB". See <>.

3) Use a USB stick and SneakerNet to copy?"JMRI for USB"?onto your WinXP machine?outside any existing JMRI folder?(probably in your home directory).

4)?Follow the Step 2 instructions at <> to set up the WinXP machine, substituting?"JMRI for USB" wherever you see "JMRI folder in Dropbox).

Hello
You use the LiUSB to connect your computer to the DR5000 and configure JRMI for an xpressnet connection?
I have managed to get it working via wifi using Loconet by setting the DR5000 LAN settings to Loconet but I would prefer to use USB.
Thanks

Locked Re: Operational concept for a single operator #operationspro

So as I read this, you want OpsPro to generate the paperwork for you to do this??

As you are the only operator and as your suggested sequence 1) to 6) can be done in one or more Op sessions, it seems to me then that you are using OpsPro as a typewriter and could be done in a spreadsheet / word processor application if your writing is not upto scratch ( like mine ! )

Martin,

To expand on John¡¯s comments, make sure that you have a turnout name assigned to the icon. The right click context menu must show a valid turnout name on the SECOND line. Ignore the TO? line. If the second line says ¡°No Turnout Set¡±, select the context menu Edit item. A dialog will be displayed to enter the turnout name and the block name.

Updated this with more tests on different machines, different hardware and more information recorded.

Note that there are only two common factors between all these tests:
1) Connection Prefix: N (always)
2) Loading file ...Test Light-It Panel.xml (which always lives in User Files Location).

We're guessing your problem is (1) - mismatched connection prefixes, possibly combined with multiple connections. For something like this you don't want multiple connections in the same profile. If you want both real and simulated connections on the same machine that is fine (I do that all the time - as a developer I currently have around 20 profiles available on each machine). But make separate profiles on that machine (one for real and one for simulator), sharing the one common User Files Location and the one panel file.

Sorry for being unclear.

The JMRI System console messages might give a clue what's going wrong.
When the problem has occurred, could you please open the JMRI System console (from the main Help menu) and see if there are any ¡°Warn¡± or ¡°Error¡± messages there?

Do you see a message like ¡°INFO - Initialised JOAL using OpenAL: vendor - OpenAL Community version - 1.1 ALSOFT 1.15.1¡±?

Thanks.

Locked Turnout not operating in simple system

Martin Peake

Hello everyone,

Having spent quite some time designing some DCC shields and software, I'm now trying to get across using JMRI with a DCC++ Arduino interface. My primary interest is signalling, and I have been looking at the pages and videos.

Here's my problem.?

I create a very simple layout as described in the video, using Layout Editor. This has a crossover and a LH turnout. According to the video, when linked up the turnouts should work when I click on them. They do nothing. This is not what I hoped for. If I assign sensors to track segments, they work as expected.

I am running the latest version of JMRI on a desktop Mac. The Mac is 3 years old and has the latest OS software, the DCC++ gear is working as I can see the sensors returning data to JMRI. I do not have physical turnouts at the moment but I hoped to see the ones on the Layout Editor switching when I clicked on them.

It's likely i am doing something stupid. Please can someone tell me what that might be?

Thanks.

Martin

Hi Kieth,

As we use several BDL168 units on our layouts, we have documented the JMRI sensor addresses for many combinations of board ID.

I have posted the Excel spreadsheet in the files section ... I hope this helps.

Locked Re: Connecting a JMRI throttle to Sound Decoder

Hi Mario,

After entering the DCC address please follow these steps:

1) Click "Load VSD File" and load the "example.vsd" file
2) Choose a Profile from the Profile combo-box
3) Click "OK"

Now the Virtual Sound Decoder Manager window should show an updated window.

If this is not the case please navigate to the menu "Help", then click on "System console". Click on "Copy to clipboard" (at the bottom) and paste the lines in a reply.

I have done everything that is indicated. Previously installed JavaSound and OpenAL, but I do not achieve sounds.
I've seen some videos, and I think something is missing. After entering the desired address in Add Decoder
the Virtual Sound Decoder Manager window does not change, it continues indicating "No activate decoder".
Some clue?
