Re: JMRI update on a raspberry pi
Steve
Per your instructions Regarding backing up your roster, one simple way is from a Windows computer on the same network as your rpi: The roster files are stored in the folder?/home/pi/JMRI_UserFiles/roster/ You can access that folder by entering "\\rpi-jmri\JMRI_UserFiles" into Windows Explorer You can then copy that folder to a backup location on your pc. However don't I have to have something like Samba running on the raspberry pi in order for windows to access it? I am guessing the \\rpi-jmri\ is the name you have used and I have to put my machine name in there.? I tired both and both tell me that windows cannot access "\\rpi-jmri\JMRI_UserFiles" Note: I thought I used your image to set this pi up, but now I am not so sure.? It might be from a different individual. |

Re: JMRI update on a raspberry pi
I updated the operating system
uname -a give Linux wprailroad 4.9.35-v7+ #1014 SMP Fri Jun 30 14.47:43 BST 2017 Armv7l GNU/Linux Java -Version gave me 1.8.0_65 Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (Build 1.8.0_65-b17) I than followed the instructions to download and extract to /home/pi with the overwrite existing files checked. when I go to relaunch decoderpro This is what I get (I am typing this as I have no idea how to capture the text in the error message). I have an image captured of the error. Unrecoverable Error encountered. this application will quit? java.lang.noSuchMethodError: org.eclipse.jetty,server.handler.resourceHandler.(Lorg/eclipse/jetty/server/ResourceService;)V at jmri.web.servlet.directory.DirectoryHandler.(<init>(DirectoryHandler.java.30) and a bunch more lines like this when I hit ok on the error screen it closes decoder pro At |

Re: Lost Command Station Recognition after JMRI Ungrade
开云体育You didn't tell us which NCE system you are using, so I am assuming you have a Power Pro as you mention USB-Serial cables. My first guess is a COM port issue, but as Ken has said, going to the Help->System Console menu item, clicking on "Copy to Clipboard" and pasting into a post for us to see can save many emails, much time and help get a resolution in hours instead of days. Alternatively, go to the Help->Locations menu item, click on Open Log Files Location and upload the session.log file to a folder with your name that ?you create in the Files area of this list and in the Problems Being Worked On folder already there. Keep in mind the "Infernal" issue Roger mentioned because it will almost certainly come back to bite you later (particularly if you are only at 4.12), but at this stage the status lines you have posted indicate an underlying connection issue. Go to Windows Device Manager, plug/unplug/replug your USB-Serial cable and watch what COM number port appears/disappears. If it doesn't, there's no point even starting JMRI until that Windows-level problem is resolved. Once resolved, start JMRI, go to Preferences->Connections and make sure you have the COM port number in JMRI set to the one you saw appearing/disappearing. Then restart JMRI and check Preferences->Defaults and make sure that nothing is set to "Infernal" instead of "NCE". --? Problem resolved after reading the NCE support note in the help files. I hadn't selected NCE in preferences.

Re: Lost Command Station Recognition after JMRI Ungrade
Nelson,
You should check the Help->System Console, it likely has some error messages that would help us see what is wrong. Since you are coming from a rather old version, there may be issues with the update of the profile configuration. So there may be something 'slightly' wrong in the connection or defaults in the Preferences. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Lost Command Station Recognition after JMRI Ungrade
I upgraded from JMRI 3.10.1 to 4.12 tonight, and now the program gives me the messages, ? No service mode programmer available No operation mode programmer available ? I had no problems using a serial to USB cable and driver with the earlier version, so that happened between versions that would make my laptop running Windows 10 running the new version not communicate with the command station? |

MRC Prodigy Advance 2
Hello JMRI community,
I am new to the world of JMRI and have "successfully" connected it to my MRC Prodigy Advance 2 system via the 1516 computer interface cable. I followed the community information provided at: All seemed to go well, I can bring up a locomotive and control it's operation in a JMRI throttle no problem. However, I cannot program through JMRI on the main or program track. I looked through the to see if I missed something but do not think so (But clearly I did...haha). The error I get when I try to program is 306 which I see is rather common. So again, I have full loco control through JMRI throttles, but I cannot program said locomotive.? Any ideas, and thank you for your input. |

Dave ,
Thanks. Sounds great. I will check that out as I start playing with routes in JMRI Paul D |

A JMRI route definition has fields for entering a sensor name that will act as a trigger. The sensor can be added to the Layout Editor panel. In the context menu for the sensor, specify momentary. Dave Sand On Nov 14, 2018, at 4:40 PM, Paul Davidson <pdavidson@...> wrote: |

Trigger route from Layout Editor Panel
I do not have traditional control panels on my layout but I have created a single master control panel using Layout Editor. My objective was to be able to visually see (and control) turnout position on my laptop via the Layout Editor Panel. I have that running now. However, all my routes are stored on my Digitrax system DS64's. I know JMRI can do routes but I have not tried that yet. If I build routes in JMRI, is there a way for me to put buttons on the Layout Editor Panel that would trigger the routes?? If not, could that be done if I used Panel Editor or control Panel Editor?

Remote Panel Access
With the Web Server running, is there a way to grant access to a panel from outside my network? Running Windows 10. Thinking that there will be times our dispatcher could actually be located in a different city if he can't make it to the session.

Re: Uploading Roster Files via web server
Thanks for the responses, works perfectly. Steve, you are highly spoken of in our model railroading circles here in the Maritimes. I know several who are using your image to run their trains flawlessly. I had made my own version but it was a little flaky as I had no idea what I was doing in linux. I personally use Engine Driver on my Samsung and I have no complaints at all. Well, your head must be pretty big by now. lol thanks again.

Re: JMRI on second computer
Thank you all for the suggestions, options and directions. I tried to add a new loco on the ASUS laptop, but was not successful. It was very slow responding. I feel I need to verify DecoderPro will work on my ASUS because I move the entire roster, etc. for access there. Thanks. |

开云体育Both of these links help explain where the roster can be found and copied to the other correct place in the other computer. Although the Dropbox page is aimed at ongoing sharing, the illustrations and explanations are the same for a one-time transfer: <> This page has a more detailed explanation of "what lives where" as far as JMRI files are concerned: <> --? Re: decoder definition KRES
开云体育Both the ESU V4 and the "Multi-Decoder-Control" use the same underlying principle. In all cases you need a separate roster entry for each decoder. The CV15/16 locking is simply to provide a way of setting individual non-zero keys for each decoder before?they are inseparably wired into a single vehicle and then unlocking one at time for programming. --?
