Locked Re: SCRIPTS...How to change them on a IMac computer

Frank,

For small changes, you can use TextEdit.

Locked Layout editor turnout control issue

Hi

i have built my layout in layout editor with all turnouts assigned. I have the options for layout control, direct turnout control and hide Unselected leg set. My turnouts operate just fine when I toggle the state in the turnout table, so I know they work, but when I click on them in the layout editor they only move one way. Subsequent clicks only fire the turnouts the same way. Additionally, there is no animation on the turnout in layout panel. I have a second machine on another layout with the same settings and that works just great. Any ideas? Thanks, Andrew

Locked Operations - Somewhat complex senario - would like help

I have a small layout but I have set up a somewhat complex process.

Cars are in my storage boxes off the layout.
they come on the layout up to 10 at a time on a car float/barge
The local picks up the cars delivers them and makes pick ups and returns the picked up cars to the car float/barge.
There are 10 industries shipping and receiving cars.
Car float is the transition back to storage.

here is how I set up operations and I don't think it is right because cars get "orphaned" at the car float.? they don't get routed to an industry. so they sit there and when the local returns they go back to storage on the car float they never left.

train 1 -? storage to barge -? ? my storage is set up as a 25000ft spur so it never runs out of room.? ?The barge is a C/I track.
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?this train has no other destinations so my guess is it just picks 10 available cars and terminates that's why some get "stranded"
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?this is where I think I go wrong.? ?I want the system to "look ahead" and see what can be delivered and put those cars on the barge.
Train 2 - Local way freight - starts at the barge and then goes to all locations (3 towns) and spurs in those towns.? Picks up cars to go "off layout" and drops cars picked up from the barge.? Returns to the barge and terminates
Train 3 - Barge to Storage - everything brought in by the local now goes back to storage boxes.? ?
start over.....

thoughts?? I can send someone my three build reports if that would help...

thanks

Thanks for the suggestions all. I think from reading the various replies I’ll have to bite the bullet ( or whatever the train analogy is) and buy the Sprog 3 with the 2.5 amp output. I inherited the one I have so I don’t know how old it is. With sound decoders getting more and more complex, and using more power, pretty soon we’re going to need small reactors to power stuff.

Locked Scripts

AutomatonExample.py (BackAndForth.py) with RailCom sensors

Dear JMRI experts,

I wish to try out, in the situation that follows, the script AutomatonExample.py by Bob Jacobsen or its version BackAndForth.py as refined by Howard Watkins () moving a locomotive back and forth between two sections of a track.

Both of these sections can accommodate, beyond our loco, one more train.

We need not worry about collisions for their possibility is ruled out by the structure of the layout. However, the event that is to trigger the action of stopping our loco is not just that s o m e train has entered either section but rather that it is o u r l o c o that has done so.

Both sensors watching the sections (channels of a Roco 10808 current detector connected to a Z21 command station), as well as the loco decoder are capable of RailCom, hence they can provide the feed-back needed.

I am not familiar with Python (Jython) and know even less about the way RailCom feed-back is made use of. Can anybody tell me how to modify the code and, possibly, change the setting?

I am very happy to have found the above examples: when extended with RailCom detection, they seem to contain all elements necessary for the automation I have in mind at present and I would be most grateful for your help.

With best wishes:
Gabor Halasz

I'm new here, but have been having the same problem since I did the last update - may have nothing to do with it.
I checked the defaults as instructed, sure enough three set to interal. Changed them, restarted and it started working as it should.
Thanks for the guideance.

You are correct. You do not have a valid port which means either the driver is bad or not installed or the USB adaptor is not going to work period.?

I would strongly recomment a Tripp Lite HS19 series adaptor. They are the preferred unit for use on USB to serial ports and have a known good Mac driver.?

Locked RPi-JMRI image updated

All,
I have updated my RPi-JMRI image for the RaspberryPi, available here: .
JMRI is now 4.13.2, Raspbian is Stretch, and I've customized the web server to add RPi-specific options like buttons for restart/shutdown of the RPi, viewing the session.log file, etc. JMRI 4.13.2 also includes a new /tables menu for watching the values of various JMRI entities.
I've also added to the AutoIdentify list, which now includes Locobuffer-USB, PR3, SPROG, LENZ USB, NCE Serial, NCE USB, DCC++, EasyDCC Serial, and MERG USB.
As before, you can view and upload your roster files.

Please visit??for more details and to download the image.

As always, your feedback is most appreciated!

Locked Re: Decoder Pro Manual ?

Most if not all the needed information is in the help files which are part of the JMRI download. The developers try to keep them up to date. Having separate manuals is a lot of work and would require a volunteer to spend a lot of time on. I personally don't see as being useful.

I did as you said and now things are OK to a point. Now the CMRI sensors are not working. I went to the Preferences – Default and all but the Command Station was checked under Internal. I tried to change them to CMRI but it wouldn’t let me change them. What am I doing wrong???

??? I changed the design of the detectors.? I took off the rubber based insulation (I put on) and totally painted the "LED? package" except for the top.? I angled the "LED package" a little.? The test cars were a black tank car and a black bottomed box car.
??? Latter may take a picture if anyone if interested.

JMRI has so many facets you’ll need a manual to use the manual… LOL.

Why don't you start with a cut off date, say in January, and anything new to the user manual after that has to wait a year to get updated for the next upgrade whereby a new manual is created? Once a year user manuals. Is that a doable idea?
