Re: Dispatcher, transits and sections. Trying to stop engine using stopping sensors.
Hi Steve,
Thanks for your help. What I want to do is automatically stop the engine at a precise position along a platform which is an autotrain. The documentation suggests using a stopping sensor, your guidance certainly explains why it did not work for me first time. So how do I stop the engine? If I use an action to pause the engine moving forward in the section on section entry with the forward stopping sensor then it keeps going. The only thing that I can see in actions is on section entry to set a signal to held, then when the engine triggers the forward stopping sensor it should stop? Is my logic correct? But when I try to do the is I get the following error: This is the action dialogue: I am now using 4.8 having upgraded, which has a lot of great features added to layout editor. Thanks again. Simon |

Secondly you might be able to modify the text color and font style in the program itself to give you a true black text in the display. It is very possible that the position formatting will get all screwed up though. Be interested to hear what if anything works for you. Mike Piazza On Aug 4, 2017 11:14 PM, "James Allen jcallen1@... Re: Lightening Storm w/ Digitrax - How to Protect for G Scale
You should only buy surge protectors both whole house or power strip that display their status. My whole house protection panel show 2 greens if all is okay (2 phases). If the system trips then the green lights are out..
You do have to check the panels if you want the status and if you don't replace the module before another hit happens, you have no protection. Mike Atlanta, GA |

(OPERATIONS) SWITCHLIST PRINTING
I have lost much of my sight and find it a bit difficult to read the switch list and manifest reports printed out by JMRI. i recently purchased a new printer to address the problem but still the print is somewhat light even after changing all the print setting on the printer. If I capture a screen shot of a portion of a switch list using the screen capture program "JING" the captured switch list printing is black and easy to read. Is there a modification to Panel Pro for printing darker print? Can one print through another program such as Excel to try addressing this issue.

Re: Dispatcher, transits and sections. Trying to stop engine using stopping sensors.
Hi
To add a Sensor to a layout panel, add icon and select "Sensor icon".Stopping sensors fwd and back are relative to the fwd back of the block / section direction not the direction of the loco. They are used to position the train if it's been requested to stop, not to stop a train at a proceed signal, for that use an action, or manually change signal to red.Depending on your version of JMRI the clicking on the sensor only works with no zoom.? Steve G. Hi, Just to add... I have worked out that I can hand edit the layout xml file to add an ON SENSOR ACTIVE/INACTIVE action. When I do I can stop the engine at the appropriate point at a station. The TransitSectionAction? documentation in the Javadoc documentation tells you how to do this. There does not seem to be anyway to add it using Layout Editor nor the SET SENSOR ACTIVATE/INACTIVE events. Am I missing something. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Re: SE8C
Larry,
I thought I would add a couple of tips to help you along. First and you may already have figured this out, the numeric part of the System Name, ie. the 257 of LT257 and 258 of LT258, are the switch numbers that the SE8c will respond to for controlling the signal. (You can enter switch mode on a capable throttle such as a DT400 and control the signal directly - useful for testing your hardware setup). Second, you should always assign a User Name to each signal. This is so that later when the need arises you can easily change the name and JMRI will handle the associations but you cannot change the System Name. I hope this is helpful and not confusing. I would highly recommend a whole surge protector be installed in their house. I believe that it saved my major electrical components for the lightening strike at my house. Both neighbors on either side were replacing tVs and other items and they had no whole house surge protectors. For about $500 installed it is worth it.
It won't help you network cables as I found out but it could have been a lot worse for me. |

Migrate Decoder Pro files from PC to MacBookPro
i need to migrate my Decoder Pro files from my ancient PC to a MacBook Pro. I've installed JMRI 4.8 on the Mac, now what Decoder Pro files need to be copied over that contain my roster of locos with decoder settings? The PC has a bazillion JMRI files from 15+ years of using JMRI. I only want to transfer the essential DecoderPro files. Is there a "Help" file somewhere that describes the files and how to make the transfer?
Should I "copy" the files over or use the "export" function? Thanks in advance - Joe |

Re: JMRI Ops Launch Issues
Thanks for the help. The solution definitely had to do with profiles. When I got to ¡°set active profile¡± and selected another I had created much earlier when starting with the program. The old profile worked consistently, with many tries to confirm successful launch. I did not have to create a new one with a simulator as connection type. Thanks for the help! This was so easy and enjoyable, after about 20 hours of researching and documenting other failed approaches. Still don¡¯t understand exactly what happened with the profiles, but who cares. Now it works.

I'd suggest setting up a profile (or modifying an existing profile, if you have one) with one of the simulators selected as your connection type. Open up decoderpro, select engine in question and right click. On the menu
about half way down will be something like "media and functions". Select that and you'll get a window where you can label functions. It's not pretty done 'cause often different per engine On Aug 3, 2017 12:01 PM, "coxt@... [jmriusers]" < jmriusers@...> wrote:
