The difference is which CVs are index and which are data.

T2CV:
201 8 bit primary index (first number)
202 8 bit secondary index (second number)
203&204 16 bit data
Used for most sound things

T3CV:
201 8 bit primary index (first number)
203&204 16 bit secondary index (second & third number)
202 8 bit data
Used for volumes

Good to hear you got Engine Driver working. You don't need to turn off
the Withrottle server to Run digitrains, it will just ignore it.

The IP address would be the private/local address of the PC on your internal
network. Usually a 192.168.x.x or a 10.x.x.x. If you have WiThrotle
running, it may show the address in the pop-up window. Otherwise, you can
go to a command prompt (assuming windows) and type "ipconfig" if you are on
Linux/Mac, then "ifconfig -a" from a terminal window I think shows it..

Windows will look something like this:

C:\Users\Stephen>ipconfig

Windows IP Configuration

Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi 2:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::59ea:d256:1db1:b443%14

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.66.66.105

Thank you for your reply.

The PC firewall is off.
The server port is set to 12080.
I restarted the JMRI and Digitrains software.

I saw a second reply which said to utilize only the web server software
I turned off the WIThrottle.

I still get the same result. JMRI is disconnected.

Locked Re: Error = Mis-recognising ZIMO decoders

Hello guys
Some updates: as a friend just received a new Roco lok with Zimo MX645P22 in SW release V37, I pushed to Github as issue #3846 a zip file including 5 updated Zimo_Unified_software_v36_*.xml decoder définitions (for MX644, MX645, MX646, MX648 and MX658).

It was tested OK yesterday by him with JMRI on his Lenc DCC, and his new lok (detected OK).

As there's no manual nor release note saying which improvements were made between v35 (latest manual) and the latest versions, those V36+ profiles are just accepting SW releases from 36 to 40, otherwise being similar to the previous latest version.

Thus it should be available soon in a future test release.

Ok.. I guess I should have read your message more thoroughly..

Do you have the firewall running on the PC? Also, make sure the web server
port configured in JMRI matches the settings in DigiTrains. DigiTrains uses
12080 by default (as does JMRI)

Did you Start the servers as well? Or Restart JMRI so it started them when
the program starts?

The DigiTrains App uses the Web Server instead of the WiThrottle Server.
Engine Driver is the app that uses the WiThrottle server.

Brian, a few things to check in the DigiTrain App make sure the setting for 1) Connection -type is set to JMRI
2) in the JMRI setting the JMRI_IP is the ip address of the computer/device running JMRI
3) in the JMRI setting the Webserver port is set to the correct port number that is set up in JMRI
Also both devices are on the same network :)

hope this helps
also check out Engine Driver app

Locked Re: PR3 not communicating after 4.8 upgrade

Update: I got up the nerve this morning to unplug my computer from everything, open it up and disconnect the USB plugs from the computer and remove them. After plugging in a USB cable and with some trial and error with an ohmmeter, I discovered one of the 4 pins inside the USB plug on the computer was not making contact. A bit of bending with some fine dental picks I use on my N scale layout soon fixed that. After reassembly the computer recognized the driver as being from Digitrax but Decoder Pro didn't like it, so I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it. The computer assigned it a new COM number (thanks Marc Fourner for the heads-up!) and after clearing that up in my Preferences I have my locomotive programmer back. Why the USB port would fail to work the very day I upgraded to version 4.8 is beyond me, but life is full of coincidences.
I'd like to echo a comment I saw recently by another user - I'm a happy user of JMRI (just Decoder Pro so far), but most of the stuff I see being posted is way over my head. I'm just thankful for the efforts of others to make this programming available for people like me, and again thanks for your suggestions on dealing with my particular issue. I'm back up and running, and all ended well.

Locked Re: Locobuffer locking up from data overload?

Steve,

That method should work for you - it has for multiple layouts. One minor thing is that designer may ask you for the off command. Since you want the SE8C to handle the flashing, just ignore that box and put nothing in it.

That is correct. The SE8C requires two turnout commands to select all four aspects - however, since only one aspect is active at a time, sending one command "turns off" the active aspect and "turns on" the requested one. This is true however the command is sent - CATS, JMRI, throttle, etc. That behavior is a little confusing from reading the Digitrax manual, but if you think about one command sets one aspect, it becomes simpler.

Rodney
________________________________________________________________________________________
Rodney,

Your method sounds like it will work, thanks.

So even though two turnout commands are required by the SE8c to generate an aspect, we really only need to send one for each color - did I understand you correctly?

I'll give this a try using one of my SE8c's and see how it works.

Thank you,

Steve

Hello Steve I DO appreciate your taking the time to look at this. Here are my system stats:

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
Intel Pentium i-7 processor
32gb RAM
1 TB hard drive
NVIDIA graphics
1gb internet connection

JMRI.4.6-R81496dc
JAVA jdk-7u80-windows-x64

Yes, I was able to print to PDF after considerable fiddling but it worked and I was able to adjust the size of the font when printing the pdf file.

I think thats the data for now, EXCEPT to let you know that JMRI/DecoderPro will only run under my ADMIN account/profile on my computer. If I try to run it while logged on as my Rick Bell profile on the computer, the program flashes the little loco logo and goes away.
So, to do anything with DecoderPro, I have to log off my computer as me(Rick Bell) and log on as ADMIN.

At this point I have no clue whats happening!! As I said earlier, I am a user, and a normally happy user, not a code writer/programmer. If its not broke, I just run it for what I need to doprogram my over 400 locos with mostly sound decoders!
Thanks very much for giving my problem a shot!

Hi Rick
I will look at this tomorrow for you (EST), and try and see what's happening.
I need to know the version of JMRI you are using, your operating system, and your type of printer. If you can, can you print to a PDF file and tell us whether the problem exists there. Most, but not all, systems will allow you to select a pdf printer.

Still not getting any help here or on the "other" JMRI site. How can I enlarge the font when printing out copies of my loco CV pages? Mine all print so small you need a magnifying glass to read it?? ANYBODY/// Changing font size in preferences doesn't work on these pages. I am not a programmer/coder, just a happy user of DecoderPro. It seems to me as I read answers to other problems I need simplified help as most answers I read here are way above my understanding of the JMRI stuff.\
At one time way back in an early 3. something vrsion of DecoderPro I could get really nice printed pages of the summary with all the CV's and or functions, etc, printed out for each of my locos. They save just fine and when called up they look great, but I normally print them out and keep them in a binder for ready reference. I have tried pasting into WORD but by the time you blow them up to a size to read they pixelate so bad they are all fuzzy. Is there a simple line of code somewhere that controls the font size for these pages/reports? As I noted above, Display/Fonts under Preferences has no effect when printing these pages. Yes they show big on the computer screen but just ant tracks when printing.
Thanks again to anyone here who knows the secret for fixing this, I know it doesn't seem as important as all the issues I read about the other postions of JMRI/DecoderPro but for me, a simple user it is a real hassle.
You folks here seem to be the goto people for this so I'm hoping someone has a moment to get me on the right track.
