Getting last signal prior to fiddle yard to automatically cycle back to green (BR 4 Aspect)
Hi All
I know this has been asked before but i can't find a definitive answer so sorry for asking again ! Im using block detection and BR 4 aspect signalling and I want the last signal on the layout prior to entering the fiddle yard to automatically cycle back to green, once the block section beyond the signal has cleared. How can I achieve this in JMRI ? Many thanks Steve |

NEW MEMBER
I just joined the JMRIusers group to interact with more model railroaders. I design and build all the DCC electronics on our Sun City layout in Georgetown Texas. It now consists of 22 modules interconnected to form a 12ft x 32ft rectangular layout with yards, staging area, crossovers, turntable, and industries. please allow me to join the Yahoo group.

Re: What protocol is easier for turnout/signals via arduino
OK, but I want to avoid the one node-one sketch thing ;-)
My idea is more along these lines: you plug your equipments on a generic node, you do the setup through JMRI (this I dont know how to do) and that's it. This would enable people with no knowledge of programming to use these nodes in different config. Bye Manu |

The same warning applies to Windows Defender on Win10. Just click on the more info button, then accept to run it.

Re: MTH Proto Sound / Decoder Pro issues?
I dont think MTH has a lock, there is nothing listed in the manual, they are a dcs system, not dcc.

Re: Ops: Timetable, wait time
Try the latest test release 4.7.6. You can now set train departure times to the minute.
Car wait counts are decremented every time a train that can pull the car is built. It is not restored if you then reset the train. There's isn't an easy way today to understand that a car that isn't part of the train being reset needs it's wait count restored. Resetting a train releases cars that were assigned to the train, but a car with a wait count isn't assigned to the train, so the train "reset" function doesn't know which car wait counts were touched during the build. Also car move and track usage counts aren't restored when using a train reset. So things can and do change every time you reset and build a train. If you need consistent train builds, you should use the backup / restore feature. Dan |

Re: MTH Proto Sound / Decoder Pro issues?
Depends on which MTH model you have. The newest models with the DCS/DCC decoders work fine on Decoder Pro. The older P3 models do not. With an older P3 model you can program the long address on the programming track all other CV¡¯s can sometimes be programmed on the main. Each incarnation of the P3 decoder has different issues when using Decoder pro. The last MTH loco I bought was the DM&IR Yellowstone which will program fine on Decoder Pro providing you change the selector switch from DCS to DCC before you put it on powered track. If you attempt to change the switch after it just gets confused and doesn¡¯t know what it is. With any P3 diesel or steam loco I rip out the DCS stuff and replace them with my decoder of choice.

jmri throttle direction control - newbie question
I'm working on my first HO layout and am exploring all my options for DCC controllers. One feature that I'd really like on a hand held controller is a single button that toggles the direction each time the button is pressed. is there a way to customize the jmri throttle so that direction can be toggled using a single "button" instead of individual forward and reverse "buttons"?
Thanks, Rob |

/dev/tty.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port; & /dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port I switched to the 2nd one & it appears to be rectified in the System Console 2017-06-17 19:14:29,981 util.Log4JUtil INFO - * JMRI log ** [main] 2017-06-17 19:14:30,979 util.Log4JUtil INFO - This log is appended to file: /Users/williamseabrooke/Library/Preferences/JMRI/log/messages.log [main] 2017-06-17 19:14:30,980 util.Log4JUtil INFO - This log is stored in file: /Users/williamseabrooke/Library/Preferences/JMRI/log/session.log [main] 2017-06-17 19:14:30,986 apps.AppsBase INFO - DecoderPro version 4.6-R81496dc starts under Java 1.8.0_131 on Mac OS X x86_64 v10.12.5 at Sat Jun 17 19:14:30 EDT 2017 [main] 2017-06-17 19:14:33,451 gui3.Apps3 INFO - Starting with profile wmseamac.3f48e951 [main] 2017-06-17 19:14:33,648 node.NodeIdentity INFO - Using jmri-28F0761979C8-3f48e951 as the JMRI Node identity [main] 2017-06-17 19:14:33,785 li100.LI100Adapter INFO - /dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port port opened at 9600 baud with DTR: true RTS: true DSR: false CTS: false CD: false [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:03,807 li100.LI100XNetInitializationManager WARN - Command Station disconnected, or powered down assuming LZ100/LZV100 V3.x [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:03,877 jmri.InstanceManager ERROR - Should not set default of type jmri.CommandStation to null value [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:03,878 managers.ManagerDefaultSelector WARN - SystemConnectionMemo for XPressnet (class jmri.jmrix.lenz.XNetSystemConnectionMemo) provides a null interface jmri.CommandStation instance [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:03,878 plementation.JmriConfigurationManager ERROR - Exception initializing jmri.managers.ManagerDefaultSelector: System connection XPressnet provides a null manager for interface jmri.CommandStation [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:08,809 jmrix.AbstractMRTrafficController WARN - Timeout on reply to message: 21 21 00 consecutive timeouts = 0 [Transmit] 2017-06-17 19:15:38,912 util.FileUtilSupport INFO - File path program: is /Applications/JMRI/ [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:38,912 util.FileUtilSupport INFO - File path preference: is /Users/williamseabrooke/Library/Preferences/JMRI/wmseamac/ [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:38,913 util.FileUtilSupport INFO - File path profile: is /Users/williamseabrooke/Library/Preferences/JMRI/wmseamac/ [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:38,913 util.FileUtilSupport INFO - File path settings: is /Users/williamseabrooke/Library/Preferences/JMRI/ [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:38,913 util.FileUtilSupport INFO - File path home: is /Users/williamseabrooke/ [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:38,913 util.FileUtilSupport INFO - File path scripts: is /Applications/JMRI/jython/ [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:39,210 swing.RosterFrame ERROR - Unable to get the double click speed, Using JMRI default of half a secondjava.lang.NullPointerException [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:39,568 gui3.TabbedPreferencesAction INFO - We are already waiting for the preferences to be displayed [main] 2017-06-17 19:15:43,838 jmrix.AbstractMRTrafficController WARN - Timeout on reply to message: 21 24 05 consecutive timeouts = 1 [Transmit] But I still see 2 different errors. Ops: Timetable, wait time
Question: Is there a way to have ops put the time to the minute (not rounded by 5) into the manifests?
Observation: When doing a build followed by reset, the wait counts on cars are not put back. Is this a known "feature?" |

Hi,

You see half brightness because you are loading the frog lamp with an equal test lamp. The sound decoders are not going to draw nearly as much power as an 1156 test lamp draws. I suspect that you have some real shorting issue going on, not something due to the voltage drop in the frog lamp. I also dislike using the 1156 lamps, but not for the usual reasons that people give. See: for the reason why. Dick :) On 06/17/2017 07:21 AM, Dave Heap dgheap@... [jmriusers] wrote:

Re: What protocol is easier for turnout/signals via arduino
Hi,

A key advantage of the Peer-Peer network is that any device can talk directly to any other device. No computer is required to support even the most basic of communications like a polled protocol requires. You may even have enough horse power in your nodes to do ABS signaling. JMRI is still an important tool during configuration, but if you are writing specific code for each node anyway, you might even be able to skip over the configuration step. MTH Proto Sound / Decoder Pro issues?
Has anyone experienced any problems programming a MTH proto sound 3 locomotive using Decoder Pro?
The PROTO DCC DECODER doesn't want to cooperate with Decoder Pro. Maybe it's just me, but I can't seem to adjust any cv's or settings? Is this a known issue, or am I just lucky...LOL! Thanks |

Re: Turnout Lockout
John,
I am under the impression that JMRI's turnout "lock" feature does not do anything useful for Loconet connections. LocoNet itself does not have any specific "features" to directly support turnout locking. There is one "generic" LocoNet feature which could possibly be used for this (the "Bushby" bit) but noone has submitted any code for JMRI which makes that feature provide any sort of a turnout "lock". There are, however, other approaches. If you are willing to configure a JMRI "Logix" conditional or two for each turnout which you would like to "lock". First, you change the turnout's physical address to be a number which cannot be accessed by a throttle. Then you allocate an internal sensor or LocoNet sensor to act as the "lock" indication for the turnout. Then you create a JMRI Logix to deal with the turnout (or even more than one), then you create a Logix Conditional which is sensitive to the "original, unmodified" turnout address and is also sensitive to the internal/LocoNet "locking" sensor; if the locking sensor is active and the orignal-numbered turnout is changed to "thrown", then send a "change to thrown" message to the renumbered physical turnout. If the locking sensor is active and the original-numbered turnout is changed to "closed", then send a "change to closed" message to the renumbered physical turnout. You can re-use one "locked" sensor for more than one turnout, if appropriate, or implement one "locked" sensor per lockable turnout. But you will need two Logix "conditionals" for each turnout you wish to control, and two "conditional actions" for each turnout you wish to control. With this in place, it is "simply" a matter of deciding how to control the various "locking" sensors. JMRI logix, jython, etc. are possible ways to control those locks. Regards, Billybob |
