HP:

The common here is the power to the SUSIC-I/O "ground" (-) is connected to the power (-) of the switch controls boards. If not the same power supply a 5VDC for the SUSIC and 12VDC for the switch board. Salvaged computer supply with both will have a common. Maybe a -5 or -12 if old enough so beware my (-) minus sign!

The data lines pull to low (-) to activate so if that is not common the switch boards don't see a command to change their output. Inputs too when you get there.

Should that be in place and solid...

The only thing I'm not sure of with your description is the almost solid data in LED (yellow) I'm like Ken, it's been too long... these things just work... that I diagnosed a node... Data out red should be very active if you have the input table open to watch the inputs but I thought the in should only blink when you change something.;.?

Try closing one and the other and see if the data lights change.

Another test is a temporary loop back of one output to one input... since the inputs work...

Pin one to pin one watch the input and change the output.

I never did understand why Dapol went for the current arrangement where a pulse changed the signal position, and another pulse changed it back again, giving no indication of which position it moved from and to.

With a large roster, I recommend opening the JMRI System Console (from the Help menu) and after clicking on "Rebuild Roster", watch that window for the "Roster rebuilt, stored in..." message. If no errors on the way, quit and restart JMRI to ensure the new index is picked up by the Roster screen.

Yes DecoderPRo seems to go inactive when you click on " Rebuild Roster " it is normal as this can take some time to complete. It all depends on how many roster entries you have. My roster is small so it takes only seconds.

After the " Rebuild Roster " completes is the roster showing up as before.. If not can you cut and paste the location information.

No need to test this. The node is responding to the polls, so the address is correct, wiring is right, etc.

If the C/MRI card configuration is right (which is likely if the polling is working), then I¡¯d suspect that the output wiring (i.e. from not to turnout) has a problem. Perhaps no common ground?

I¡¯ve now got it so it pulls all the Car Float cars and routes them to Storage.

BUT, It won¡¯t move any cars back to the float because the float tracks don¡¯t have the space as they still show occupied by the cars that will be picked up.? Hp,

Sounding good so far, the outbound message will change as soon as you alter
one or more turnouts. My usual test is to set the first couple of even
turnouts to normal and the odd turnouts to reverse (closed and thrown for
some people). It should put out a pattern. Then change the turnouts to swap
the positions. The pattern should change. One catch, as I recall JMRI will
only send the output message when something changes in JMRI, OR if JMRI
thinks the node might have reset (timeout to a poll for example).

I used to know that part better, but I've not had to look at a traffic trace
for CMRI in a couple of years, so I've forgot if it repeats the outputs or
not.

But my usual guess is if the dip switch is mounted the wrong way, the on/off
relation gets messed up and you are not addressing the board like you think
you are setting. So I usual give it a try where I flip them all the other

Russ,

Have you tried Recreate/Rebuild Roster Index? This rebuilds the "roster.xml" file to an index of the actual loco files in the "roster" folder found at Roster Location. Note that:
- The rebuild takes a while. Its completion is announced in the JMRI System Console.
- You'll probably need to restart JMRI to see the results of the rebuild.
- The "roster.xml" file is not your roster. It's just the index to your individual roster files. They are what is important.
- Don't confuse "Recreate/Rebuild Roster Index" with "Recreate/Rebuild Decoder Index". You don't need to do the decoder index. It won't help you and may create other problems.

Hi Wrightstuart...

The Dapol semaphores are just a 2-aspect when connected this way. You can just configure each arm using the single output driver as either head or mast (or head controlled mast) with Green (off or inclined) and Red (on or horizontal home) or Yellow (caution or horizontal distant).

Once synchronised with the button on the DP8 the signal arm should follow the state in JMRI as long as the signal is powered while JMRI is in use. If you have used BR2003 colour lights then you should have no problem using the Dapol semaphores. Splitting signal masts get a bit more complicated, but I suspect you do not have any of them yet.

3. Delete is the correct option. This deletes the panel from your current run of JMRI and NOT from your files. You can just reopen the panel again if you want without the need to restart JMRI.

Don,

1. Select the group, use "Tools >> Translate (Move) Selection¡±. This allows you to set the precise move distance.
3. Exit JMRI to close without saving. A panel is not an independent item.
4. Turn off "Options >> Grid Options >> Snap to Grid when Moving¡±.

I used to always enable snap to grid for adding and moving. I now leave those options off and use a key combination that enables temporary snap to grid. On macOS, the combination is option-command. I don¡¯t know the combinations for Windows or Linux.

So, I'm working through the Layout Editor tutorials. I have part of a real control panel entered. I've noticed two problems.

1. Moving: Even when snap to grid is turned on, and objects started on the 10x10 grid, if I select a range of stuff within a box, and move it, the new locations aren't on the grid. I seem to need to put the cursor on the grid to start. With snap to grid on, I think the cursor should jump from point to point on the grid, so this problem doesn't happen.

2. Loss of control: at times, trying to move track, detectors, anchors, and switches in a group, they would only move in one direction, no matter what I did with the mouse. They'd drift off the side of the panel. And, there's no "Undo".

3. Closing without saving: In times like that, I need to close the panel without saving it. What's the right way? The only choices I get are delete or hide the panel. So, I've gone to the Panel Pro window and closed JMRI to escape. I don't know that it's the right thing to do, but so far, it's the only thing I know that closes the panel as saved before the editing messed it up.

4. Grid: The detector symbols default to 5x5 units off the grid. I can't seem to set the finer grid to 5 units, to let me put them on top of the track, which is on the 10x10 grid. I need to go in and edit each one's coordinates. These changes sometimes get lost when moving groups of objects. What's up with that? is the finest grid setting 10x10?

5. Placing many objects with sequential numbering: I'm putting in 64 photodetectors, each one displaying on the panel. It would be great if after I name the first one, ending with a number (for example PD00), that the next one placed had a default identity one number higher (PD01, PD02, PD03,...) I've used other editors, especially ones for schematics and printed circuit design, that had such features. I keep looking for them here, as I'm conditioned to expect them. It's hard to unlearn things that seem intuitive!

Roger,

?

If you look at the right side of the WiThrottle Server window, you will see a pull-down menu indicating the roster group that is displayed by Engine Driver and WiThrottle. You can define a roster group in DecoderPro and then check entries you want displayed and don¡¯t check entries you do not want displayed.
