Re: Why are the function fields blank in decoder pro?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe individual Sound Slot Volumes are further down the Sound Pane. You need to scroll down on this pane. The Sound Slots are (usually) activated in the Function Map by being selected in the Sound Slot column. I suspect you have a small screen and need to scroll across on this pane. --? WiThrottle and JMRI Questions
Dear JMRI Users,
I just joined the group and this is my first post. To all you WiThrottle-JMRI-Mac "gurus," I recently converted my N Scale layout from DC to DCC. I installed a Digitrax DSC240 Advance Command Station with Digitrax LNWI Loconet Wifi Interface. I downloaded JMRI Panel Pro and Decoder Pro 4.10 Software and installed it on my MacBook Pro running OSX 10.10.2 Yosemite I purchased, downloaded and installed WiThrottle on my iPad. The Digitrax DSC240 Advance Command Station is connected to an isolated programming track per the manual. The WiThrottle is connected via the Digitrax LNWI Loconet Wifi Interface. I'm having two issues: 1. I cannot program any locomotives on the isolated programming track. The JMRI Decoder Pro software is giving me the prompt: "Programmer error. Programmer busy (302)" (See JPEG image below) The WiThrottle JMRI webpage states: 302 ¡ª programmer busyThe command station has reported that it's busy doing something else, and can't do any programming right now. This usually means that some other part of the DCC system is doing a programming operation, e.g. a hand-held throttle. Some DCC systems can't do ops-mode programming (programming on the main) while also using the service mode programming track, in which case they'll return this error message. I'm not doing any programming anywhere else on the layout.______________________ 2. The WiThrottle will not allow me to change addresses. After entering address the address is displayed in "Recents." Once I've programmed an address, in this case 6035, when I try to enter the address a second time I get the prompt: "Loco 6035(L) In-Use Would you like to acquire this address?" When I click the YES button nothing happens, even with repeated pressing. When I click the NO button the window disappears, but the cycle repeats and remains NOT SET. I tried to delete the Roster addresses, It's like the WiThrottle gets "stuck."I also get the prompt "Unable to load JMRI WebServer page." It appears that the WiThrottle is not "seeing" the the server" (my MacBook Pro).See JPEG graphic below. The PanelPro appears to "see" the WiThrottle in the "Advertising WiThrottle" window, but no device is showing the the Device Name window. The DecoderPro doesn't "see" the WiThrottle in the "Advertising WiThrottle" window, and no device is showing the the Device Name window. See JPEG graphics in photo section under WiThrottle and JMRI Questions. I suspect these issues may be connected and may have to do with the drivers. PLEASE ADVISE,Regards,Robert Diepenbrock |

JMRI Jython programming question
Is there a straightforward way to send a specific speed step (i.e. 0-28 or 0-126) instead of a throttle value 0.0 to 1.0 to a throttle? I can't seem to find a place in the code where it will let me do that... My apology in advance if this is a stupid question.
I'm using?jmri.jmrit.automat.AbstractAutomaton ... self.throttle.setSpeedSetting(1.0) Thanks, -Erich |

Re: Decoder Pro and QSI decoders
Nick
Ken, The OEM QSI decoders can be "programmed" with JMRI but to do anything with changing the sounds, you need a QSI programmer . If you have a version 7, the chip has been upgraded to accommodate installing a new sound file. The original version, 6 was crippled thanks to MTH and their frivolous lawsuit that they lost. The V7 should have BEMF, speed tables, momentum (CV 3,4) . QSI uses indexed CVs for sound adjustments. Important note. Turn OFF verbal feedback . It interferes with DP sending multiple (indexed) changes to CVs. The decoder tries to verbally respond while others changes are attempted. That might help some of the issues. You need to shutoff verbal acknowledgement.

OK, installed 4.12 and same problem. I have verified everything I can thing of. I ran the LocoBuffer-USB test noted on their website and it checks out. Could it be JAVA related? I have version 8.
What other things should I be checking. Thanks. Bob |

OK 4.12 installed. Roster still there :)
I read entire CV Sheet and made sure all CV¡¯s were read. When I go to the ¡°Function Map¡± tab some functions are indicated, others say things like AUX-1 or 3.? I put the loco (still in the consist of the main and suede my NCE ProCab to select Function keys and I recorded what is on each key. Re: Decoder Pro returns 123 for all decoder settings
One thing: the upgrade alone is not enough. Whether before or after upgrading, you will still need to go to the preferences and correctly set everything up. After that, 4.12 will leave things be, whereas 4.10 will mess up at every opportunity it sees... Help needed checking for sensor validity via Script
Hi,
I have been working with sensor scripts of late and am in need of testing whether a sensor with a given user name exists. I understand from the doc that for:?? s = sensors.getByUserName( uname ) sensors.getByUserName returns a null if uname is not a valid sensor user name. Apparently testing if? s == null is not the way to do it. Could someone point me in the right direction how this is properly done in a jython/python script? Thanks for any help! Have fun!? :-) Best regards, Geoff Bunza scalemodelanimation.com |

Re: Logix
Graham Orriss
Thank you to everyone that contributed to my problem.? I have at last a train that can go around a loop with Dispatcher and stop in the station and then continue after a time.? I have successfully used physical sensors, internal sensors and logix to accomplish this.? One question remains.? How can I reset each block to inactive in logix, after they go red on layout, so another continuous journey can happen around the loop again?? Thank you all in the User Group.? I couldn't have got this far without you.? Best Wishes Graham Orriss(UK)

What would you use to trigger the missing layout sensor(internal) to be active. Re: Using a Large Number of Connections to JMRI
Large numbers of C/MRI connections via Ethernet should not be a problem. Each one will use less than a MB of additional RAM. The network stacks are pretty efficient of CPU time, and don¡¯t care about numbers of nodes for much larger numbers than anybody will realistically build.
Large numbers of USB-connected devices can be problematic unless you have (and your OS supports well) multiple _independent_ USB busses. The USB controller hardware that runs a bus typically has a limited number of slots: RPis seem to have 15, most modern Mac hardware has 30, and PCs vary from 7 to 20 or so. Don¡¯t forget to count built-in devices like the keyboard and mouse if they¡¯re on the same controller. Bob On Jul 19, 2018, at 2:50 PM, jerryk4884@... wrote:-- Bob Jacobsen rgj1927@... |
