Locked reporter failing to update memory after track power is restored #reporters

Hi all
The issue is that a train passing RFID data via a reporter will initially update the block memory with the tag value which the passes from block to block as the train moves, this is as expected. if the track power is cut either manually or via a cutout system following a derailment, upon power restoration the memories are all blank as expected as the track sensors cannot see the train. The reporter block however retains the data that was previously read and passed to the block.
As the train passes over the reader again the reporter sees the data from the tag but fails to update the memory for the block involved, This however is only the case if the ID from the reader is the same as that already in the reporter. If a Different ID tag is read the reporter updates the block memory as expected.
I cannot understand why this should be happening unless the reader is only updating upon a change in the held value.

some insight would be helpful

Tim

Power Cab Instructions

=================

The best beginner-level settings for a Power Cab (any version) and an NCE USB (any version) ?are:

- All USB Jumpers off (or at least 2, 3 & 4. Jumper 1 is ignored).

- JMRI preferences are:

-- System manufacturer: NCE

-- System connection: ?NCE USB

-- Serial port: <whatever is appropriate for your system>

-- USB version: V7.x.x

-- System: PowerCab

-- Additional Connection Settings checkbox ON

--- Baud rate: 9600.

?

The JMRI system console log should then report V6.3.0 or V7.3.0.

If you don't get a version number in the log or the system does not work, Use Help->System Console...->Copy to clipboard and paste into a post for us to see.

?

Also please advise the behaviour of the two LEDs (marked USB and CAB BUS) on the NCE USB (normal behaviour is both to flicker briefly when processing commands, either or both stuck on denotes a problem). Also the behaviour of the LED on the Power Cab Panel (normal behaviour is on, with a brief flicker when JMRI switches it into or out of programming mode).

Roger,

You are correct, the dialog window location does present a nuisance for some editing situations.

However, it is just another window, and as such can be dragged out of the way. Perhaps I was not bothered with the extra action in the past, but now that I am aware of the situation, who knows what happens the next time.

Mark,

The error message reads like one (or more) signal heads do not have aspects defined (CATS does not know what aspects the signal head can display).? See Section 8.1 of the designer manual.? Specifically, the "Create Aspects" button.? when you click on "Create Aspects", you will get the aspect definition table.? Even if you don't change anything, be sure to Accept it.

Locked Re: Items needed to set up a programming track

Hi Neafus,

What you want is an impossibility. JMRI sits in your computer, connected to whatever command station you choose that it supports. No command station means that you (and JMRI) cannot access your locos. Two of the most capable ones for modest prices are the NCE PowerCab and the Sprog.

Locked Re: How do I create a directional sensor.

Phil
It is referring to internal sensors. Create one fwd and one reverse for each section.
Then edit the section, the combo box for them are at or near the bottom.
Steve G.

Locked Re: How do I create a directional sensor.

Phil,

Just like the prototypes, it takes two sensors to detect direction.

If A and then B, one direction but if Band then A, the other direction.

Your pairs of block sensors might provide enough information, depending upon how much granularity is needed, Sometimes a pair of photocells that straddle the boundary between two adjacent blocks might be advisable.

Here is what I do. Main machine is a desktop. I run a manual Back-up. Then I copy that back-up to my portable drive. Plug that drive into my Laptop and copy the folder into the "Backups" folder and then Restore that folder in the Laptop. Then I just reverse the process to get the modified files back to my Desktop.
