If you will NOT be using ESU decoders, then I would suggest a SPROG. I use one

for non-ESU decoders. ESU decoders need the LokProgrammer for installing the sound files. I have both, I swear by my SPROG, if SPROG can't program the decoder, the decoder is dead as far as I'm concerned. John ---------- Original Message ---------- |

JMRI supports a lot of different hardware
Most of the common systems will program most decoders. Do you have a DCC command station at present time? If so there may be an interface for it. If not I would recommend looking at a Sprog which is a DCC programmer / mini command station which uses JMRI. -- Peter Ulvestad JMRI Users Group Moderator - ( ) Tam Valley Group Moderator - ( ) Sprog-DCC Group Moderator - ( ) Edmonton Model Railroad Association - |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýktellis68, I believe I am experiencing the same problem as well.? I have PowerCab version 1.65 and just recently purchased the NCE USB Interface.? I am using Windows 10 and have the latest version of Java installed (1.8).? I have also installed the latest windows version of the driver as well.? I have been playing around with the jumpers (all off, all on, and a mixture of on and off).? Still not having any luck recognizing loco's.? The led's for both the type b port on CAB bus do light when attempting to send commands.? I have the correct port set and have tried various Baud rates (9600 and 19600). Power Cab Instructions ================= The best beginner-level settings for a Power Cab (any version) and an NCE USB (any version) ?are: - All USB Jumpers off (or at least 2, 3 & 4. Jumper 1 is ignored). - JMRI preferences are: -- System manufacturer: NCE -- System connection: ?NCE USB -- Serial port: <whatever is appropriate for your system> -- USB version: V7.x.x -- System: PowerCab -- Additional Connection Settings checkbox ON --- Baud rate: 9600. The JMRI system console log should then report V6.3.0 or V7.3.0. If you don't get a version number in the log or the system does not work, Use Help->System Console...->Copy to clipboard and paste into a post for us to see. Also please advise the behaviour of the two LEDs (marked USB and CAB BUS) on the NCE USB (normal behaviour is both to flicker briefly when processing commands, either or both stuck on denotes a problem). Also the behaviour of the LED on the Power Cab Panel (normal behaviour is on, with a brief flicker when JMRI switches it into or out of programming mode). Dave in Australia |

Items needed to set up a programming track

I hope I¡¯m not posting to a worn out topic but I need some information. ?I am wanting to set a decoder programming track to program decoders from different manufacturers. With the jmri software what interface will work for most decoders or do I need multiple interfaces to cover the most manufacturers. I need this because I rebuild O and HO trains. I only need a programming track for installing new decoders or reprogramming, no throttles needed.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSee, this is what makes this site so great! ?Method 1) Rather than using the association of the two turn out I could have just identified them on the panel with the same number. Method 2) make a hard wire change on the DS64 so that they activate as one physical turnout. I don¡¯t know why I forgot about this as I had done this with my layout before I implemented JMRI. I will see which one of these works best for me. Thanks again for the insights! ? Terry Cummins S.E. Michigan ? Sent from for Windows 10 ? From: Cliff Anderson

Rodney, I've been helping Mark with CATS. I started a panel in Designer to show him how things work and when we tried to bring it up in CATS we got the error message he referenced in his post. When I was there I could not find the misnamed sensor anywhere to correct. We need help in finding the sensor that is named wrong. Before I left I checked every sensor that was define in Designer and they were all correct. When we had CATS open I tried looking in the tables that were in the JMRI window that opens with CATS is accessed. I could not find it anywhere. When I saw the error message I knew immediately what the problem was, but we cannot find out how to fix it. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Clay Smith |

Associating turnout to another horrible results
After solving one issue with my panel I was setting a turnout that when thrown another turnout has to be thrown for the train to be able to continue. When I did this the first time I activated the primary turnout they both ended up endlessly cycling back and forth. One would set then the other and then back again! Finally the JMRI went into a non recoverable error and I had to shut the system down completely. What could be causing this??

Re: Moved sim JMRI not working on active layout
Updates to the issues I created with the migration of my new panel to an active layout. After many trials and tribulations I removed all my switches from the panels, logix, and tables. Then I rebuilt all of these and then added the elements back on the layout and panels. I now can set the switches through the panel levers. I still have some gremlins that I need to deal with such as the switches sometimes take for ever to actually set, and some even after setting continue to click long afterwards. But these are things that should be easy to deal with now that the major issue has be resolved. Thanks to all who gave insight and direction as it was all helpful in solving the issue!

Digitrax PR4 blinking lights?
Hi Guys, looking for your thoughts!? I have a digitrax DCS210, using JMRI 4.18 andhave a digitrax PR4 hooked up and all was working fine.? I shut things down last night, now today my PR4 is rapidly blinking green/red, blue is on constant after booting up the PC.? Jmri will not connect and communicate properly with the system but the PC still sees the PR4 as a digitrax device on com port 3 when plugged in so it seems to read it just fine and the same as it always has.? I can't seem to find any literature that explains the blinking light pattern but maybe I just don't know where to look.? If I'm guessing, it looks like the PR4 has something wrong with it.? Any advice from experience is greatly appreciated. |
