Searching within eBay for "ho dcc sound decoder with speaker for proto 2000" hits a bunch of these with different form factors. All about $30-$40.?

Going back to my original question, does JMRI support XL decoders? ?

Thank you, Wouter, for your intervention. However, the topic may be closed now as far as I am concerned.

Bob, Paul,

You should have left me in ignorance, a bliss. The more I have learned on the theory of sending Z21 CAN messages the more I don't understand - my fault, no doubt about it - hence I had better not ask any more question. Paul, you were advising me, on practical grounds, against using such messages in my present problem, anyway.

Nevertheless, I am grateful for all your information.

Hmm, different seller to the previous item number, and it is a different item to the previous one as well.

?

As to the epoxy covered blobs, Chip On Board (COB) is fine if done correctly, and is especially useful if putting a chip with a lot of connections in a small space.

Scott,

You will need to use the 4.17.3 test release to run CMRI at speeds other than 9600.

Rich,

I'm not near my layout computer so I can't check the other settings, but the COM port depends on what Windows has assigned. Open Device Manager, expand the ports section, and plug/unplug the PR4 into the SAME USB port.? The COM port number that comes and goes when you do that is the one to use.

Also, I've found that sometimes I have to "reset" my PR4 by removing the USB and power, letting it sit for maybe 30 seconds, then plugging everything back in. That seems to fix the occasional flakiness (which is triggered by, as far as I can tell, by switching between PR4 modes of operation).

How do I delete panel files from panel pro?

I have JMRI v: 3.10 installed on an HP Pavilion running Linux Mint 17.2. Setup in simulation mode for NCE and C/RMI systems.

A few years ago I started going through the tutorials for putting together panels. Never finished the tutorials or the sample panels.

However I managed to create several partially completed sample panels. I want to clear all of these out of JMRI and start from the beginning of the tutorials, and not have so many panels on file. How would I go about deleting these files from JMRI?

Thanks,

Regarding the NX prompts, the current web code doesn't come close to supporting something like that. Sorry.

Data bits = 8

Stop bits = 1

Are these settings correct?

I just found this site.? I was working? on VSD last year and made great progress and am getting ready to go at it again this fall and winter.? I have some 20 files, diesel, electric and steam; all based on the framework of the original vsd files.? AND I also have clicking on looped sound files.? Not with bells, whistles, etc. - only with the "idle" and the notch sounds.? ?I circumvented this problem on the electric locos by not using the motor file(s) but instead using a blower sound relabeled as motor.? As I understand it, electrics don't notch.??For diesel and steam I stuck with the original vsd files, adjusted the notch points and added different bells, horns, pumps, etc.? If interested, I can hopefully find my computer notes and give a detailed report on my method.? I use SPJHelper, WavePad Sound Editor and XML Copy Editor to obtain the wav files and manipulate the vsd files.? All wave files are PCM, uncompressed, 11025 Hz ?sampled?, 8 bit, mono.?

Looking at this thread I don't think the problem was solved.? However, VSD is very good (sans clicking).? It's a really great way to fill the room with sound for my "hollow core door", n scale layout.? It works seamlessly with JMRI and Engine Driver.? ?

Don,

If my memory is correct, you say the command station was in storage for so time. It is the early command station - like the one I use - and I do an average of 2 installs per day. All program track programming is normally done through Decoder Pro and A Sprog 3 BUT, for many years it was just the command station. In my area and local club there are 12 Easydcc uses and most of them use the command station only.

You have done a full reset, now the next step - with a small flat bladed screw driver just lift? the end of each IC on the board - no need to take them out completely and then reset them. The main processor can remain as it is. Then do another full reset and try again. The 6.29 Eprom is perfectly good.

I am upside down in Australia but that should not make a difference.

A question for anyone using EasyDCC and Decoder Pro is this: What switches the Command Station between normal running and programming modes? I see commands defined to do that, but don't know what JMRI operations trigger them. Does switching to Programming Track on the Roster page initiate programming mode? Seems likely. But, what switches it back? Changing back to Edit only, or something else?
