Ok this is NOT a Mac specific question, is there a group that I should go to?

I used to use a marvelous app on my iPhone by Emerald Sequoia LLC - "Clock". It gave very accurate time to the tenths of a second. I used it in tracking satellites. But then I got a new iPhone and when I was loading my apps saw that they had shut down and the app was no longer available!! Wah!!

Is there a good app that gives very accurate time to better than the second?

Hi Charles -
This group is for all things Apple and adjacent technology. Even the recent conversation about Internet providers wasn’t off-topic either.
If your primary use case is satellite tracking, I wonder if a satellite tracker would be a good choice. Otherwise, maybe search the App Store for <atomic clock>.
By the way, if your new iPhone has USB-C, it may have been possible to retain your old Clock app with a wired phone-to-phone transfer. Maybe a tip for next time.

I’ve used this occasionally for years! After reading your message I checked, and fortunately still have the app on my iPhone, and it’s working just fine. But I decided to do a bit of research and found this sad story about the company:

Granted, I went from the iPhone 4S to XR, something like iOS 9 to 13, and 30-pin to Lightning.
Why does transferring it by USB make a difference and can you reference any documentation? You offer good advice, but for some reason I want more info.

Way to think out of the box, but the receiving iPhone does not qualify, it is an XR. It is running the current iOS. Since I am on a fixed income, I won’t be upgrading my phone for some time.

Read it again, you can move from older iPhones _to_ the 14, it says nothing about moving apps from older iPhones to another older iPhone.?
Convert’s graphics are much like Apple’s Calculator, but has a wider range of measurement units to convert between. I will look at the Apple Calculator again, but when I moved to the XR, the conversion list was much shorter.
My most current Mac is a late 2012 Mac min, Catalina is the highest OS it can run. I bought a clearance iPhone XR, when they shut down the 3G Networks. My old daily driver was an early 2008 MBP, but it has become very temperamental and about worn out. Living on a fixed income is limiting.?

This indicates to me they are referring to any iPhone from 5 to 14 on either end of the cable+adapter. That’s why I linked to the older camera adapter for your 4S, assuming it’s compatible with a phone-to-phone transfer. I’m having trouble verifying this compatibility.
I realize this probably isn’t worth discussing since you already completed this transfer. Just wanted to outline the options.

Is this the same as backing up an iPhone, then restoring another (usually later) iPhone from that backup? If not, why not?

Doing a direct wired transfer from one iPhone to another is different from backing up an iPhone to iCloud or a computer and then restoring that back to another iPhone.
The former includes all data on the source device whereas the latter does not transfer apps and instead redownloads them from the App Store, if available.
This thread began with a discussion of an app that’s not longer available in the App Store, and thus couldn’t transfer to a new iPhone via backup or wireless transfer. However, wired transfer eliminates this obstacle.

Read it again, you can move from older iPhones _to_ the 14, it says nothing about moving apps from older iPhones to another older iPhone.?
Convert’s graphics are much like Apple’s Calculator, but has a wider range of measurement units to convert between. I will look at the Apple Calculator again, but when I moved to the XR, the conversion list was much shorter.
My most current Mac is a late 2012 Mac min, Catalina is the highest OS it can run. I bought a clearance iPhone XR, when they shut down the 3G Networks. My old daily driver was an early 2008 MBP, but it has become very temperamental and about worn out. Living on a fixed income is limiting.?

Yes, that app from Emerald and Sequoia worked great until I switched from my beloved iPhone SE (pretty small form factor). Keep your old iPhone as long as you can if you need to keep an old app running.?
